Review of chapter "Chapter Six." from DieselDriver
Review:
There's so many really bad science fiction movies where they just keep shooting with no affect whatsoever on what they are shooting at. The reminded me a lot of those. I was quite happy to see that, in this instance, it did have some affect. I'm sure they were happier than I was.

Godzilla movies are quite bad, all of them; the Blob, both that I've seen. Both typical.

I enjoyed the Godzilla movie with Mathew Broderick. Great special effects but they seriously broke the cube square laws of physics. The streets wouldn't have been strong enough to hold that weight up and neither would it's bones nor muscles. But that's true of all the giant monster type movies.

Edit to your reply: The Think? Alien is another take off from A.E. Van Vogt's "The Voyage of the Space Beagle". It's an episodic novel written about 1950 if I remember right. The whole book is centered around a huge starship with about 400 man crew on a multi year mission to explore space and meet aliens and such. One of the episodes was very certainly the progenitor of "Alien". Main difference is that they found the alien floating in space and put him in a capture cage before he woke up. When he did, and they opened the airlock to come out and study, it escaped into the ship and started grabbing crewmen and putting eggs in their chests. If your "think" is "thing" misspelled then it's progenitor is "Who Goes There" by John W. Campbell in 1938.

You aren't the first one to hate that movie with M.B. I never understood why anyone did. I didn't have any problem suspending disbelief at all. I thoroughly enjoyed it the 3 times I've watched it, although I did hate his girlfriend. She was a dip. He should have dumped her and gone for the hot scientist babe. Like Xander says, "smart girls are SSSOOOOO Sexy".
Comments from author:
Hated that 'Godzilla' film!

The thing I realised while I was writing this fic was that 'The Think...' was actually 'Alien'.

D.

Twice this stupid system has blocked my review. Sorry. Good stuff. Good song reference. Sympathy for you know who. But BS&T did it better. Demon A reminded me of it.

Buffy has to do it the hard way just like us. I stopped on my own after spending most of 1972 soused.
Comments from author:
Happens sometimes, I find coming back in five minutes usually works.

Kudos, its how I finally stopped smoking.

This was going top be its own little fic but I chickened out, mostly because people don't read songfic...mainly because most of them are so terrible!

One day I might re-edit this and give it it's own spot.

Cheers,
D.

I hope she has either a sat phone or a magic link in her comp if she's going to contact Willow from way up there in the boonies.
Comments from author:
I think its magic.

Actually its not really that far away from civilisation...there's just a lot of unpleasant sea around.

The weather was nicer when the Vikings settled the place.

“Nuke it from orbit,” Dawn grinned, “it’s the only way to be sure.”

I like the way Dawn thinks.

I think I've since used that as one of the 'Slayer Rules'.

Review of chapter "Chapter Four." from DieselDriver
Review:
I love to play with words inside my head. I came up with this: "Semantics is antics with words" a few decades ago when I took a creative writing class. So when I read this: "four armed airmen" I couldn't help thinking "Hmm. are there 4 airmen with arms or are there airmen with 4 arms?" More thinking occurred and I thought "hmm, I wonder how many airmen it took to get 4 arms or how many of them were there with 4 arms?"

Some of my others: "Diet" has the word "die" in it. "Embarrassed" almost has "Bare assed" in it. I don't think this is mine, I probably heard it somewhere: "Meat" has the word "eat" in it. I love to use that one on Vegans.

Yes, I know you meant 4 airmen with guns... Does that make them "Airguns"?
Comments from author:
You know I often find myself thinking like that, then tying myself up in knots trying to get around it.

BTW, I found 'albeit' in my dictionary...I've still can't remember seeing it used and I stil think it looks too much like 'Albert' to risk using.

Cheers,
D.

Review of chapter "Chapter Two." from DieselDriver
Review:
Heh! Tried to follow their route on Google maps and didn't have any luck looking up these places. So I started looking up and found Yell and Fetlar. Once I located those I found the other island and found where they landed and followed the ferry lines back to the island and was able to fllow the roads north to the north end of the island. I found Breken but not Gloup. I did find a picture of a ferry about midway on the Hanners Ness - Belmont line and another on the Gutcher - Hanners Ness line. Not a lot of detail, first one about 130' long and other a bit smaller, guessing from the scale of the picture. Anyway, I am assuming RAF Gloup is fictional. It was quite fun to try finding though. Couldn't get much farther north in Britain.

Review:
Hard to imagine that Faith would be the one to say this.

“Just so long as ya don’t forget and say it to their faces,”

Oh cool, one of the "famous last words" I didn't mention (didn't think of)...

“everything’ll work out fine.”

Willow should know better than to say something like that just before a mission. Sheesh.
Comments from author:
Well this Is the more grown up Faith who's trying to better herself.

Review:
As soon as I read the part where Willow talks about a rabbit 'god' I started laughing and could image Faith as a giant rabbit eating all the carrots.
The scientists bickering with each other was also funny, can't say I know any scientists, but I have had to work with dozens of engineers and they pretty much act the same way.
Buffy hitting bottom with her alcohol addiction was very well-done and I can just imagine how Kennedy is going to be hard on Buffy when it comes to drinking, but your Kennedy has a soft heart, so I think she'll also temper her 'hardness' with actually helping Buffy.
Another really great story. Thanks.

I used to work at a University, I know how scientists act!

Review:
I never would have thought a slayer could become an alcoholic. I seem to recall other authors having slayers able to quickly metabolize the alcohol (which is why they never got drunk).
Comments from author:
I don't think theres any evidence from the series that Slayers can't get drunk.

Buffy didn't drink because she didn't like the taste (I think). However cold vodka is more or less tasteless and being in/near Middlesbrough is enough to make a Saint start drinking...heavily!

Cheers,
D.

Howdy Dave!

Was kinda curious as to iffin who survived other that Dawn and Faith...then did't over much as the image of Rabbit-Faith all passed out from gorgin' on space carrots hit the brain! Rabbit-Faith huggin a relieved Dawn was equally cute. Boy is Faith NEVER gonna live this one down!

Buffy as a mean drunk, damn whatta sight. Bein' the control freak that she is...well on one had I find hard ta buy her lettin herself go like that. On the other hand she did in another fashion once before. And as a bit of a homophobe? Damn! Its like they say, they're all cool with it til it visits their house! Oh maybe its that Buffy feels no one needs her anymore, or bit of it all mixed all together?
Waitin' eagerly for the next season!

The Cracker!
Comments from author:
So many things came to a head in Buffy's life I'm not surprised it sent her over the edge. The loneliness, Faith 'stealing' her sister, the struggle to get the Slayer Organisation up and running. No one noticing she's climbing into a bottle.

I feel sorry for the poor girl and next season I'll do something nice for her...promise!

Cheers,
Dave.

Review:
I wanted to say that I like just about everything you have written. You have a way of writing that brings out all of each characters strengths and flaws. Yet, when you are putting them through hell and back, you do not bash any of the characters in the process of examining their flaws. I think that ability to take both the good and the bad of a character and make good use of all of it makes for good writing. I have seen many fan fiction writers fail at that. I think that you efforts to vindicate Kennedy may have shaped that and I am glad to see it applied to everyone you write about.

Now as to this story. I thought that the use of the same entity that Kennedy and Tina faced in your Seattle Slayers story “WABBITS!” was an inspired way to deal with the "Vampire Carrot". It is to bad that Anya is not around to see it as her reaction to a Bunny-Faith would have been hilarious.

Finally I was surprised that you made "Demon Alcohol" a chapter at the end of this story as in the series summery it is listed as a septate story. Still I do like your Buffy alcoholism storyline in this series. I have often thought that Season 6 of Buffy would have been better if the storyline had dealt with Buffy drinking instead of the sex with Spike situation. Do you think Buffy has PTSD as well? I am hopeing that the next story "Another Brick in the Wall" with Buffy and Kennedy gives more exploration of Buffy working on overcoming her alcoholism. Did you have the Kennedy also being an alcoholic laid out before hand? I am trying to remember if you had clues in earlier stories.

Overall I think you have done a great job with this series. I am looking forward to the next part.
Comments from author:
Ok, thanks for your very nice review.

As for putting 'Demon Alcohol' at the end of the story; well, the sad thing is people don't read songfics, and generally I understand why. Apart from a very few that I've read they're pretty cringe worthy! So I added it to this story to ensure that at least some people got to read it.

Bunny-Faith, actually I'd sort of let the fic take on a life of its own and I suddenly had the problem of how D&F were going to get out of this situation. That night I watched 'Curse of the Were-Rabbit' and I thought 'why not?' Rabbits keep popping up in my stories and I remembered something about a Native American 'god' so away we went. As I've mentioned else where we've not seen the last of Bunny-Faith. And yes its such a pity Anya's not around.

Alcoholism.
I have hinted at Kennedy's drink problem before by saying how she only ever took one drink, a glass of wine with dinner, a cocktail by the pool and then she stops. I'd noticed how Joyce used to drink at times of stress and I talked to friends who had more experience of alcohol abuse. They told me that it would make Buffy more likely to drink if her mother had too. And yes I agree S6 would have been better if it was drink rather than sex.

Kennedy, I started writing Kennedy mainly because people were so nasty about her and I couldn't understand why. She loved Willow (I'd always liked Willow) and she called Buffy on stuff, she was brave and a leader. Yet everyone hated her...go figure!

Buffy, PTSD? All I'm gonna say is...not yet! I worry some times, I like Buffy but I'm being so mean to her, I must do something nice for her soon.

Thank-you once again,
Dave.

My computer died so I'm sorry I haven't commented on your story for a bit. While I enjoyed your story, I'm sorry you killed everyone but Faith and Dawn. But then you have an annoying habit of killing characters I like. I still remember the Three Bears! Lol! Glad to see Buffy have her "Come to Jesus" moment. Mine wasn't nearly as dramatic. I just realized I had to stop drinking or I was going to die. Lol!

In the movie the saucer burned up. Isn't yours still on the bottom of the lake? Lucky RAF. Your logical conclusion that defeating an invasion of Evil Blood Sucking Carrots would take a giant rabbit was inspired. I was hoping you would save one of the scientists survive so Faith could say the immortal words of "What's up, Doc?" And Dawn and Faith now have a new role-playing fantasy! Lol!

I look forward to your next epic. But don't let Buffy get away with any s**t. We drunks need to work for our salvation. Lol!
Comments from author:
Do you think Buffy's gonna have it easy with Kennedy to keep an eye on her?

NO WAY!

You know because I had 'Curse of the Were-Rabbit' at the back of my mind I completely forgot the 'What's up Doc?' thing...wascally wabbits!

There could be a few more survivors I just didn't bother because it wasn't important, but you never know next time there's aliens... Anyway PO Dukes got away!

Cheers,
Dave.

PS; Hope your computer is in good working order!
