Oh, beautiful. I always loved Tara, and even here, in an abusive household, she manages to be relatively well-educated, brave enough to go to the police despite the danger, and virtuous enough to care about her mother above herself. And it was good to see that Eileen made some sort of penance, even it it didn't go as well as she had hoped. Gibbs was excellent as always. I can't wait to see where this will lead Eileen and Tara.

Thank you. Tara was homeschooled and does have her mother''s full support, that helps. But I've always liked the character of Tara.

Eileen may or may not be a good teacher for Joyce, but the big question is if she will be trusted enough for that.
What did Tara's mother actually die of in the canon verse? Illness? Or being so badly treated by her husband that she died from that? I assume her talk of maybe dying soon has to do with being worried about execution for her past crimes. Hopefully, things will have calmed down a bit over the years and the revelations about the old body-hopper may change people's minds, too.

Ah...but Eileen has a mother...
According to the Buffy wiki (and my memory) she died of soemthing unspecified (and farily horrible) to do with magic. And she does indeed expect to be exectued...but hopes tha Tara will be spared.
Interesting tie-in. The Maclays and the commune was even more extreme than what I got from the series, but an interesting take. I take it that Gibbs will remain involved in the former Maclay women's life? Or at least Tara's, as you've hinted that the illness that took her mother has made an appearance, though maybe she'll beat it... And Tara has got to be around Kelly's age, give or take a few years, which would make him protective.
I wonder what the rest of the Beckforth's think about Eileen and Tara's appearance, given her role in Black's last attempted uprising. And is there any connection to the HP Black family?
Comments from author:
I needed a setting in which witchcraft would be beleived in yet not accepted. Hence the rather frightening (I hope) sect.
Gibbs...well he does need Mothering.
There will be a talking heads chapter in Lonely Souls in which a lot of background is explained. And it will be up fairly soon so I'm not revealing much when I say yes, the HP Black famliy has yet another black sheep...
A very nice NCIS-Buffy tie-in - don't think I've ever read a story where we see Tara's original home.

I probably answered this already but the nifty new unanswered reviews filter showed it, so...
Thank you, I wanted to show Tara's background and I hoped it was believable. I wondered what sort of community would let a girl be raised like that and well...

Love the connections to the other story. Nicely done. However I could see Tara's mom helping Joyce with her powers assuming she is a mother witch. I am guessing Tara is as well. Great snippet. I look forward to seeing how you connect everyone. Fire

Thanks for reviewing. As to how this will be woven in...you'll have to show patience... I'd like to say it won;t take long, but I fear that would be a fib.

Shannon's maiden name would be the same? I tried a quick search on imdb and wiki but couldn't pick the name out of the info there. Still, I am intrigued and beg you to continue this story line when you get the chance. Is there a converging storyline here? All the characters were incredibly life true. I must read more. EDIT 06/21/11. I'm going to read chapter 26 of L.S. again. Homework.

Thanks for reading and reviewing.
Ummm. Shannon's maiden name is Fielding...but she's definately dead...and not Eileen. There will be more of these characters, don't worry.
You seem decided to introduce more and more of my favorite character in your world. Loved it.

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I found it rather difficult to write Gibbs without his usual team (except for Ducky) but none of them were there yet...Glad you're enjoying it.

Very good. Glad to see things worked out for Tara and her mother.
Edit: I think Tara's last name is spelled Maclay rather than MacClay.
Edit1: I almost forgot that Eileen Beckforth was mentioned in chapter 26 of "Lonely Souls". It makes her actions understandable in this story. Perhaps you could mention this in your Author's Note.

Thanks for reading and reviewing!
You're quite correct, I know a guy called MacClay, so I automatically typed that. It has been corrected. I've also added a section to the Author's note that reading chapter 26 before hand is wise.
I sometimes forget that other people have to read this, not just me...
