Review of chapter "Chapter One" from VillageOrchid
Review:
I like how this makes a slightly happier situation for Buffy. Certainly a more well adjusted one.
Comments from author:
Thanks

I figured Buffy deserved a bit better than the mental torture she put herself through when she returned. I always wondered how things would turn out if Buffy didn't have that kind of overwhelming baggage to deal with. Not to say there won't be any issues resulting from it. After all, she got a rather quick education as to the existence of extra-terrestrial "big bads."

Great story. Normally I do not read the shorter stories, but yours caught my eye and I am glad I stopped to look. Even in a story this short, you managed to keep everyone in character as well as develop a line to continue with. I saw the sequel and will be reading it next.
Comments from author:
Thanks. Keeping people in character is important for me, although, as events move farther from canon, personalities will develop differently then in canon in consistency with the events. I hope that in doing so, I am able to make such changes realistic.

Review:
Sneaky ancients, they got someone else to do their dirty work - again. At least it all turned out better for everyone. After all, why would Buffy be depressed after being kicked out of a diner?
Comments from author:
There are actually a number of candidates who would have benefitted from manipulating the diner situation-and who may, or may not, be revealed in the sequel.

Some of the changes in both the SG1verse and Buffyverse in the sequel. You definitely have picked up on one theme-that Buffy's reaction to being resurrected is not going to be the kind of extremely negative almost pyschotic reaction that she had to being "torn from Heaven" as occurred in canon.

Review:
Good start.

I'd read another intriguing story here back in 2005 that had Buffy working as a waitress in the Ascended Diner at the end of SG1 season 8 ("Astral Anne" -- http://www.tthfanfic.org/Story-6538-2/Riversong+Astral+Anne.htm), but that one had her end up there at the end of BtVS season 2 instead of working at the diner in LA, rather than after jumping from the tower at the end of BtVS season 5. I like this variation very much.

I look forward to seeing where you go with this!
Comments from author:
Wow. I wasn't aware that someone else had played around with this idea before. I only learned about TTH back in 2009 or so, and have not read a lot of the older stories that are archived here. I am going to wait to read the other story until I finish my current sequel to this one, as I want to make sure that I keep the ideas I have in mind separate.

Thank you for the kind review, and also the recommendation.

Wow. If only my first story on the site had been this much fun. I can't wait to see what you write next. If it's a sequel, I'll be happy, but even if it isn't, I'll be looking out for it. Way to go!

Peace,

Blue

PS, once you've been around here for a while, you'll find out I don't give out tens unless you hit it out of the park... this was close... I'm looking forward to the next story. Eagerly.
Comments from author:
I really appreciate the review. I myself and not one for "grade inflation" so I fully sympathize with the desire to not give out lots of 10's. I anticipate writing a follow-up at some point, is I really would like to revisit this and see what consequences are down the road (both for Buffyverse and Stargateverse). My work and health do not leave me much time for writing, so it may not happen quickly, but I definitely am planning a follow up.

awesome story....
GO Buffy!!!
hope you will write a sequel - a meeting of the 2 groups would surely be very interesting ^_^
Comments from author:
Thank you very much for the kind review. I have some ideas for at least one follow-up. Unfortunately between work and my health, I don't have much time or energy to write, but I certainly anticipate doing at least one follow-up to this down the road.

Nice one-shot. Any chance this may turn into a series (of one-shots or full-length stories)? I'd like that.
Comments from author:
Most likely will be a series of one shots. I have some ideas for a follow-up. Unfortunately my work and health do not give me much time or energy to write, so shorter one-shots are easiest for me to actually sit down and compose.

Review:
As much as I loved the actor who played Anubis in the diner, I would have cheered to see Buffy kill him.

EDIT: Had to look up the actor's name 'cause it was bugging me. George Dzundza was fabulous on Law & Order, too, as Max Greevey. Man, now I want to go watch season 1 L&O.
Comments from author:
One of my favorite SG1 episodes, and the actor who played Anubis in the diner gave one of the flat out best performances in the series' run. I was watching the episode again and just wondered what would happen if there was an extra "guest" at the diner, and this short fic just sort of begged itself to be written.

EDIT: So that's where he was from. I knew he was familiar, but I just couldn't remember where I saw him. Have never been a big fan of L&O but it would definitely be worth the time to watch the episodes he is in.
