Review of chapter "Straight, No Chases" from alynambered
Glad to see you back writing. Just reread this great story and hope you can continue it.

How DO zats work on vampires and demons??
Comments from author:
It is definitely being continued. I have the entire story "plotted out", and the next chapter as well as parts of other future chapters are underway. I have just unfortunately had very limited time to write due to my health (I have MS) as well as work (which in itself is a challenge given the health situation), so I write when I can in bits and pieces.

The zat question will be answered fairly soon in the story. Buffy is very anxious to know if the ray guns work on the baddies.

Review of chapter "Straight, No Chases" from Alkeni
Perhaps, but when Daniel married Sha're, the age difference was much smaller than twenty years.

Like I said, I like the fic, but there has to be an addressment of that fact by the characters. Sure, Spike and Angel were even older than that, but they'd also stay frozen in terms of apparent age, so the apparent age gap would shrink, whereas the apparent age gap in Buffy/Daniel doesn't.

W/e. Your fic.
Comments from author:
True, on the other hand, who really knows how old Daniel is "physically" given his multiple sarcophagus treatments, "ascending" and "descending" twice. Of course, "mental age" can have as much or more of an impact as "physical" age in a relationship.

Daniel of course, while the age difference at time of marriage with Sha're was probably around 11 or 12 years or so, also had to deal with the vast cultural difference. Abydos had no TV, Internet, books (Ra had banned writing after all), or the many other things that Daniel would have found commonplace, notwithstanding his affinity for archeological digs. The marriage was clearly a happy one as portrayed in "Children of the Gods" (until Sha're got taken by the Goa'uld of course), notwithstanding the immense difference in backgrounds between the two.

I'm liking this story quite a bit. I like how you've changed enough to have Buffy not be in the horrible state she was in the show after literally being pulled out of heaven, you've connected the two universes in ways I like and I am also glad that you've started it early on in season 6 before willow goes bad. Looks like it'll be Baal as the big bad instead of willow.

I'd like it if you could somehow incorperate having Faith freed from prison with the understanding that she can redeem herself more by doing good and fighting the good fight rather than rotting away in jail. A presidential pardon would work nicely.

I'm also looking forward to a future showdown between the President/SGC/Homeworld Defence V. The Watchers Council.

It would also be cool if you could come up with some sort of excuse to find the Slayer Scythe- perhaps with Asgard Tech?
Just some totally random suggestions that you can completely ignore.
In any case, keep up the good work and update again soon.
Comments from author:

While I appreciate suggestions, I try to follow a "no spoilers" rule in my comments to reviewers. If for some reason I use something a reviewer has suggested, I will note credit for same in story. With that in mind, the general story is pretty much laid out for this, although of course some things may change as this story tends to be writing itself at some points.

As far as Faith, and the Fang Gang, I do not anticipate their being involved much in this story-however, the one thing I will "spoil" is that there will be a sequel to this story once this one is done (I even have a working title for it-"Seasons in the Abyss" from the song and album by the band Slayer). It is anticipated that the sequel will deal with the larger universes of both Stargate and the Buffyverse, and will encompass not only the Scoobies and the old SG1, but the Fang Gang, Atlantis, and the requisite Big Bads.

As far as updates, my next update will probably take longer to be posted than I first expected. Between the Holidays, and my multiple sclerosis acting up this week, I have not been able to get the next chapter into shape yet, and it will probably be another 2-4 weeks before it gets posted (health and time permitting).

Donde esta Spike?

Also, as much as I like this fic, any Buffy/Daniel pairing is going to HAVE to address the fact that Daniel is at least like what, Thirteen? Sixteen? years older than buffy?
Comments from author:
I am glad you are enjoying the difference

Actually the age difference is 20 (Buffy is 20 and Daniel is 40, based on canon as adjusted with beginning of BTVS S6 coinciding with period between SG1 S8 and S9).

Daniel's late wife, Sha're, was at most in her early 20's. Buffy as we know, dated Angel, and in Canon had a relationship with Spike, both of whom are far older than Daniel (aside from the fact that they are both vampires).

I hope it is clear that I am working on a logical development of the characters based on the starting point shown in the prequel to this story. Many May-December romances, or even potential romances, have been successful, and many have failed. Frankly, the fact that there are such issues which need to be "addressed" is part of the interesting aspect of a Buffy-Daniel relationship. Frankly they both have issues to deal with in connection with any relationship they have, even aside from the age (i.e., Daniel's grief over Sha're, Buffy's track record with relationships).

Slightly older? Giles has to be in his fifties...Daniel's what, thirty-five? Thirty-eight?
Comments from author:
Daniel is actually 40, while Giles I believe is in his upper 40's. From the perspective of a 20 year old, 40 and 50 are pretty close to each other (or at least they were to me back when I was that age).

Love Buffy's bouncy response to the idea of 'ray guns', and to the possibility of laying her hands on a couple of 'misplaced' zats, should they prove effective anti-demon weapons. :)
Comments from author:
Thanks. Buffy's response pretty much wrote itself as I was working on the chapter.

The fact that the stun ability of zats would allow Buffy to deal with troublesome humans (like assistants to the Mayor, Initiative types, and the like) without having to kill them is something I think would appeal to her very much.

Daniel meeting the nightlife? Dear me. Dawn embarrasing the good doctor and the sister? Oh yes indeed... I look forward to the next chapter and see what the Zats do.
Comments from author:
Thanks. Daniel tends to let his desire to learn about new things overcome his attention to his won safety at times (although remarkably not that of others, although of course they get in danger rescuing poor Dr. Jackson), and as we all know, that can be a bad combination on the Hellmouth.

What zats will and won't be able to do appears to be a popular topic. I am sticking to Stargate canon (even though their are major flaws in how zats work in canon) in so far as it applies to non-supernatural. As far as impact on the supernatural-well that would be telling.

oh awesome! Can't wait to see how patrol goes!!!!!!
Comments from author:
Thanks. Glad you are enjoying. It is safe to say that the SGC group, for all of their other-wordly experience, have never dealt with anything quite like Sunnydale's diverse (and dangerous) nightlife.

Excellent story so far. Good job with the writing! Like the storyline and plot. Keep up the great work!
Comments from author:
I am glad you are enjoying the story and that you think highly of the writing.

While I do a lot of writing for work (I am a lawyer, which means lots and lots of writing), writing fiction is so very different (I'm sure there is a good lawyer joke in their someplace), and this is my first lengthy story.

I am interested to see what effect the zats have on vampires too. Maybe they can test them on Spike?
Comments from author:
I'm sure Xander would wholeheartedly agree with the idea of testing the zats on Spike.

Thanks for reading and reviewing.

interesting evening.... I`m sure the night will be a revelation for the SGC team...
eagerly awaiting for the next update ^_^
Comments from author:
The SGC team is going to find out there is big difference between knowing about the supernatural and KNOWING about the supernatural.

Glad you are enjoying the story.

I still want more. When is the next chapter due?
Comments from author:
Thank you very much. I am glad you are enjoying the story and are anxious to see more.

Hopefully next chapter will be done within next couple of weeks (it is underway, but may be a bit longer than some of the earlier chapters-or I might split it into 2 chapters-not sure yet).

My health (multiple sclerosis) and trying to still maintain a full time job (which is necessary to maintain health insurance to pay for the wonderfully expensive experience of having MS), often leaves me with little time or energy to write. The story will be completed and I am enjoying writing it very much, and have the story "framed out" as well as many scenes either sketched or mentally sketched. Turning them into full chapters and getting them posted is going to occur at variable frequencies, as my health and work permit.

I get as frustrated as other fans due of "discontinued" stories and I have no intention of letting that happen here.

AWESOME story, can't wait to see the next chapter!
Comments from author:
Thank you very much. I am glad you are enjoying the story.

Working on next chapter, but will probably still be a while before it gets posted due to work, health, and not having electricity last weekend due to the snowstorm. I have mentally "storyboarded" the story already, so I know what the major plot points and many of the scenes will be, but as you know, stories tend to write themselves once they get going, and the story is going to be quite a bit longer than I ever imagined it would be when I first started.

Great story - I just found this one. Most Buffy/SG-1 crosses have the Scoobies going to the SGC, rather than SG-1 coming to Sunnydale and you've written the encounter very well.

Keep up the good work.
