Review of chapter "The cost of success" from lunalurker
Review:
Finally found and finished this, and have I mentioned how much I love this series? Because I love this series very much.
Too awful an hour to say anything intelligent, but thank you very much for writing, and I'll be continuing to watch for more. Hopefully. With gleeful anticipation, even. :)
Comments from author:
Yes, W&S takes most of the attention. I do love my smaller series, but I am only one person and lack the time to write as much as I would like to do. The next stories in the series may make people grin though...

Review of chapter "The cost of success" from RebeccaAshling
Review:
Great story! The Casarua is a nasty and insidious thing. Even beyond its demise, it can still kill. Truly horrible! So Buffy slayed in short skirts to attract a certain redhead? Doubtless this is merely George extracting the urine but as a Wiffy 'shipper I choose to believe Buffy and Willow fell in love at first sight ;) Will any more denizens of the Blytonverse appear in your stories? Such as the unfortunately initialled Secret Seven, the Five Find-Outers (and Dog!) or former alumnae of Malory Towers or St Clare's? Look forward to the next tale in this series.
Comments from author:
Thank you. Isn't it, just? That's the problem with enemies who work on emotions and fears, they do not disappear quite as fast as a bruise, even on a Slayer. George has an insidious and evil mind. And how much of it is true? That we may even find out...

I'm not quite certain if they will. I've not read the Mallory Towers/St. Clare's books. I might read them, not as if they take long to read, and see then.

I'm working on four at the same time. That might not be the best way, actually.

Review:
A short but exciting story. There is space between 4 and 5 that is missing lots of angst etcetra, but kudos! for a atmospherically creepy Buffy Willow story.
Comments from author:
I considered adding more angst, but then I realised I've got plenty of angst coming and going and thought, let's give the poor dears a break... Glad you liked it.

Review:
I never expected to see a story involving the Wombles of all things, let alone a good one but you have managed to do it. Also having the Famous Five in it as well was a bonus for me as I loved that series when I read it.
Congratulations on a well done and surprising series. I hope that we will see more from it in the future.
Comments from author:
Thank you. I will try to mix in more weird combinations. That is one reason for this story. Glad you liked the Famous Five too. I tried for Swallows and Amazons, but that didn't work.

Thanks and quite a bit of sequel and prequel is already written.

Review of chapter "The cost of success" from Meneldur
Review:
Oh, simply superb ending. I loved it, and I hope to see more in this universe eventually.
I found it quite ironic that for all the help Emma gave throughout this chapter, basically solving everyone's problems, she still saw herself as unneeded and extraneous. It is good to know that despite her fears (and they were partly true, not only based on the Casarua), she will manage to live in this life.
Loved the reference to the Fear Demon, with Buffy and Willow cracking up. Spike and George's relationship was quite amusing as well.
As I wrote, the last part was very good, very realistic, conveying Emma's feelings quite well, and the groups feelings as well.
And again, an excellent ending, and I hope to see more of this one day.
Comments from author:
Thank you. I've got parts of two sequels writtten and a good deal of one prequel. I still have to write the immediate sequel however.

The Casarua got qutie deep into Emma. Less powerful psyches, less experienced ones, would have failed here.

Yes, that is one of my favourite episoded. George and Spike are not moving qutie as fast as people may think, and Spike may hope...

Again, very glad you liked it.

Review of chapter "Into the Pit" from Meneldur
Review:
Excellent chapter. Not much to say, since it was mostly a fight scene, but it was a very good fight scene, and the way everybody confronted their fears and emotions was very we;l done. The good-natured teasing of George and innuendo between Buffy and Willow also provided good moments of humor that lightened the mood. Can't wait for the last chapter.
Comments from author:
I don't do fight scenes very often. I prefer to keep them for climactic moments. (Which this was) Glad you liked it though. The facing of fears is something that had to be done, glad it was convincing.

Poor George, a forties girl in the 21st century...

Review of chapter "Old Wombles do not die" from RebeccaAshling
Review:
Oh, goody, you've updated :) The Wombles are unharmed which is of the good. I wonder what horrible scene Spike and his team came across? We tend to forget that Spike was a vicious, evil monster and it's always good to have a reminder of this. It makes the effort he made to seek atonement more impressive. Wonder what an Earth Mother is that Willow is in such awe of one? Doubtlessly, all will be revealed in the next update.
Comments from author:
Yup, and plenty more written. Spike has a lot of skeletons in his closets. Or wardrobes...

The next story, not chapter, will reveal more about Earth Mothers. Sorry!

Review of chapter "Old Wombles do not die" from Meneldur
Review:
Oh, hurray, you have returned! And with a very good chapter, too.
So, the Wombles are safe. For now. I'm surprised Willow can't cast a sunlight spell. Wasn't she working on creating one in Sunnydale? Unless she meant something more like a sunburst spell, which would be hard. Still, even a few seconds of sunlight should be valuable in desperate straits.
So, that's what was hiding here. No wonder Spike is so worried, and feeling guilty.
Willow is completely right. They all need a psychologist. Here's to hoping they find one.
Giles and Xander's argument was actually quite entertaining.
Oh, poor George. She really had to go through a lot as a Slayer, didn't she? The way she expressed would have been amusing if the situation wasn't so serious, though.
So, they're going over past mistakes. I'd say that's a good thing, except, you know, considering the situation they're in, I'd think they should shelve it until they're actually safe.
It's not a trap if you know it to be one. And they have backup/reinforcements. But I'm worried for George, and the cliffhanger isn't helping. Can't wait for the resolution.
Comments from author:
Thank you. The story is finished and will be uploaded in the next couple of weeks. It hung around my neck like a millstone and was part of the slow development of W&S.

Fiat Lux is more than just a simple Sunlight spell. And it's not so easy for Willow.

Yup, Spike is suffering from a good deal of guilt. And the Scoobies need to have a number of heavy duty group therapy sessions...

Yes, like all Slayers George suffered a good deal. I did intend for it to be mildly amusing.

Cliffhangers, yes, cliffhangers are evil...

Emma with a flame thrower is something I want to see. The otherworldly sensibility of these Wombley stories are a sublime read, so completely realized.

Emma with a flamethrower in a Peel suit is something I want to see too. Thank you, I do enjoy writing them a lot.

Review of chapter "Chapel Royal" from (Past Donor)Glendon
Review:
This story has such an interesting quick sharp shift from fluffy to creepy every couple of paragraphs for me. It's kind of a cool effect. When I'm reading W&S, I get the high highs and the low lows of the story but they balance out over time. Maybe it's because this shifts so fast, it doesn't seem to do that.

The last reviewer hit most of the plot points i would have touched on, so I won't do that. What I will review on are the mystical concepts you brought in with this chapter. The whole pool of echoed emotion idea isn't completely new obviously, but I like how you handled it in this chapter. Looking forward to seeing how everyone ends up handling it. I have a feeling a general use exorcism is going to quite do the trick on something that was jump stared with that much pain and has been bubbling along for all this time.
Comments from author:
Part of the quick turns has to do with the much faster pacing/shorter space. I've also filtered a lot of the 'bad'things out of W&S into their own stories.

The casarua is a celtic concept, a ghost that results from horrible crimes against a group of people in a mystically charged atmosphere. As for how it affects people, well I hope to get the next chapter up faster than this one, that's all I can promise.

Review of chapter "Chapel Royal" from Meneldur
Review:
Okay... this si going to hell in a hand-basket. Possibly literally, if Willow loses control. On the other hand, Buffy is there. Love worked last time, so they've got a chance. And With Buffy and George, I think they can certainly hold out in fighting power until rescue arrives.
Spike and his romance problems... the poor sod is almost as bad as Buffy. But this dashing rescue might be a chance for it. I actually wonder if they'll all be forced into an interview with the Queen after this incident.
In any case, excellent chapter. Can't wait to see more. Until then, Meneldur.
Comments from author:
Yes, its a very naasty enviroment for poor Willow. Buffy and George are indeed a formidable fighting force. Personally I think Spike may be slightly worse in this verse than Buffy. And Buffy is now safely in the arms of Willow. Well, Willow in hers and not very safe, but you know what I mean. I've no doubg HM will invite them for an audience, yes...

Thanks, and thanks for reviewing

Review of chapter "Chapel Royal" from RebeccaAshling
Review:
Tomsk as black-clad ninja Womble. An amusing and strangely cool image. I expect that Spike/George will be on the cards but I'd like to lobby for a Buffy/Willow/George triad. George Kirrin was the best character that Enid Blyton ever created and I'm pleased to be following her adventures. Wonder what will become of Emma Knight? And just how bad is the mini-Hellmouth the Master caused to be made? And what's become of the missing Wombles? Update soon! *big kitteny puppy dog eyes*
Comments from author:
Not so much a ninja as special forces, but I like the Ninja image immensely. George is indeed the best character Blyton created who she will end up with, we shall see. Emma and the Wombles will get more 'screen time' next chapter. As for how bad...Wait until next chapter. Evil grin. I do hope to get that one up quicker than this one.

Review of chapter "Little Slayer lost" from RebeccaAshling
Review:
George has a really exceptional sense of smell. Must be morphic resonance from spending her formative years with Timmy the Dog. Look forward to finding out how such inoffensive and cautious creatures as the Wombles managed to get in such a mess, and also the exact nature of said mess. Glad you're continuing this series of stories :)
Comments from author:
Heh, I suppose it is a possibility. I just liked the idea, the first book George is quite a nature girl so her senses might be more attuned to them. The Wombles are little to blame, as you can read in the next update. which is now up.

Thanks for reviewing.
