Yes, what Ray interrupted was Ethan's ritual for transforming Giles (the fic starts with Buffy's birthday, which is the day/night Giles was transformed) into a Fyarl demon, as I have enough going on without trying to incorporate the episode plot, which was pretty tight timeframe wise, adding this story and maintaining continuity; this was the better way I felt. I aim to incorporate something that will have a similar emotional impact on Giles as the Fyarl incident did.

The main basis is exploring Joyce's story in the past and then something happening in Sunnydale to explain the visit of the GB team.

Talk about a reputation to live up to. The Scoobs are going to be so jealous, not to mention Giles will be polishing his glasses into oblivion. On the other hand, he'll have some very intelligent conversations with the guys :-) Should make up for the teenagers he's forced to associate with.
