nicely done, it was great seeing some of those characters. did Jon kill the scorpion king in this AU verse instead of Rick? can Jack use the spear? thanks for sharing this
Comments from author:
Thanks, I enjoyed using them. Jon and Rick killed him together. Jack can use the spear, yes. Charlie could have too, had he lived.

Thanks and thanks for reviewing

A not on Earnest Worthing

**note ?**

Since Carnahan has a hereditary title and is not just a Life Peer, the possibility that Giles and Jon are related on the noble sides of their ancestries becomes higher.
Comments from author:
No, no this is a deep and philosophical argument regarding the negative curse on Jon. Who am I kidding, I forgot an e.

Yup, it does, but the nobility, especially the lower nobility (baronets) was actually quite numerous. Many families were raised to the peerage every year after all.

Very humorous!! I like Jack's grandfather!
Comments from author:
Thank you. Jon Carnahan is the comic relief in the Mummy, he does a fairly good job here too, I hope.

Review:
This was fun. It was good to have a story which didn't deal with any serious stuff. Just telling the history, walking the land, and sleeping with hot women. I quite enjoyed it. Not sure how it'll all tie in, though it may be connected with Willow's hacking, and of course the fact that Jonathan knows Simon. Well, I guess we'll see in the next story or the one after that. Until then.
Comments from author:
I liked it too, though there were some serious bits. By now you should have a notion how it ties in. Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for reviewing.

Utterly wonderful tale. I loved the Earnest Worthing reference - and that the Western World had to intervene to prevent two troublemakers reaching China... Charming, delightful, and funny - thank you!

Yes...Jon and Jack together are enough to give most governments headaches...

Review:
Great story. Jonathan was hilarious.

What I am confused about is the Sceptre thing. Rick used the Sceptre to kill the Scorpion King and it got lost in the oasis when it all collapsed in on itself. Or is it something to do with the fact that Jonathan carried the sceptre/spear about with him for ages?

All the Jons were a touch confusing as well.

I liked the Ernest Worthing reference, but please note that the name Ernest does not have an A in it.

Great work - keep at it!
Comments from author:
The Sceptre thing will be explained. ( When Jon hits good all SunnyD...Where did he go after the Chinese caper?)

Yeah, that was my problem too. I was rather happy Jack went by Jack. Just be happy not the entire family showed up, lots of Jons, tons of Jons!

I've seen Earnest in American usage, which is why I gave it to Jon, but you're quite correct that's not in the play, only in the title. Silly me.

...did Jon, by any chance, happen to be good friends with a chap in the fifties by the name of James Bond?
Comments from author:
Heh. No, Bond, in this Universe, was written by a guy called Fleming. He did meet Fleming.

I like your old Jon. So, he's the "Ernest Worthing" mentioned in Lonely Souls. And also MoNY/SoS. Okay. That answers a couple of questions.

Does Simon know who Arlene's "Jack" is? Joyce probably knows Jack's last name, but she wouldn't know about the connection to old Jon. Is Jack's name on Evy/Marcie's birth certificate or did Arlene lie on it?

When or how will Jack find out about his daughter? And why didn't he want children with Arlene? Was it because they were both career military? Or was it some sort of misunderstanding? Or did he simply mature a bit in the years between Arlene and Sara?

So Owen is lying, by omission, to old Jon about the Stargate. Is he doing it to Simon, too?
Comments from author:
I always liked Jon. I thought he, with proper seasoning, was perfect for the role. He's old and experienced enough to make the young dogs sit up and take notice.

Simon is not aware of all of Arlene's romantic past. His name was not on the birth certificate, it was 'unknown father'. Joyce knows hios last name, but hte family usually spits when it's mentioned.

The when and how will be revealed, that's all I'm gonna say. As for why he and Arlene broke up, that too will be dealt with.

Simon is unaware of the StarGate being opened. Owen is unaware that Simon knows about it.
