I'm thinking a cloned eye or a mental transference into the clone, myself. It all depends on if his other scars are present.

As for how, well, if the Cabal didn't kill Willow, Xander's faction may have saved her, which makes that sort of thing possible.

Still a little too confusing to figure out what's going on, but it sounds like the Faith and Willow who were killed may have been clones that weren't fitting in well enough??? Or instead of actually being killed they were recalled? Also 2 eyed Xander probably need to prove that he isn't a clone.

And the problem with Season Eight, basically, was - ALL OF IT. Mindless idiocy, erratic, contradictory and erratic characterization (where there actually was any) and just plain stupidity on the parts of everyone - good guys or bad guys - involved.

The scripts, such as they were, deserved to be flushed down the toilet even before they were completed.

Aside from all of the above, it was really wasn 't that bad. ;-)
