Review:
I just giggled reading the end of this. I really hope that you think up a way to update it. I'd suggest Xander duck out and send letter's to each of them.

Oddly, the only one that I might see actually wanting to seperate would be Giles. Although everyone would be stunned at Dawn being considered all their daugther, it might actually be a good thing. She might be what actually brings the family together. "Eww in the case of Giles."

I can actually see Tara having a thoughtful look about it all and actually taking Xander's side. He didn't know any of this until he went to the goblins. Willow, Giles, Tara, and Anya were supposed to be the magic experts. Oddly, I can actually easily see Anya and Tara joining in. The "solution" would be fairly easy in that Giles/Anya hook up with Xander's blessing and they pretty much ignore the consort thing.

They could consider it like a family adoption. Willow will be very mixed on the whole being married to Xander bit. So will Xander. I can actually see Xander and Tara bonding over it.

Dawn will have the biggest shock to the system. I think learning that she was actually Xander's daughter would give her warm fuzzys though.

I've never been fond of the Buffy being pulled from heaven angel. I've always thought that she was just on a nice peaceful plane where she wasn't in pain. Not heaven, but much better than where she was. Actually if you were mixing it with HP the enjoining spell could be considered the groups horcux and in theory that any of them could bring back the others. The reason that Buffy was having all those warm fuzzys and in a happy place wasn't because she went to heaven. She was living inside their family bond.
Comments from author:
Oh yeah, telling Buffy, Willow and Giles that sort of news isn't really something anyone would want to be stuck with doing. ;-)

And I completely agree with you that Willow actually pulling Buffy out of Heaven is a ridiculous idea to even suggest. Possibly Limbo or Purgatory, but *not* Heaven, or even Hell.

The very idea implies that she possesses god-like power, which leads to the question, why the Gang didn't simply have her hand-wave all the Big Bads out of existence?

Oh dear god, this chapter made me laugh so much! The whole consort thing is just wonderful, and I wonder how Xander is going to sort it all out. Man, just thinking about his predicament makes me giggle. Can't wait for the next chapter!
Comments from author:
I think the best way to really address the issue is from a very great distance - like Antarctica, maybe? ;-)

Review:
Well........Shit. So, I know in canon the Monks basically cloned Buffy just different, my conclusion for this is Occam's razor, they made her out of all of them, and since she's part Black and the Wizarding World is at most Victorian in it's standards, the only way they could have a legal child without marriage is a consort. No doubt the creation of Dawn was one of the disturbances Xander is looking for and the other involves the one where Angel became human then changed his mind. Boy is Dawn going to have conniption fits, that name will be hell to write not to mention she has the hots for her own dad.
Comments from author:
Nope, the disturbances the Ministry is concerned about are completely separate instances, and have nothing to do with Dawn, in any manner whatsoever.

And Dawn's reactions are most certainly going to be fun to watch. As will the other Scoobies', too. ;-)

Review:
This has to do with the Enjoining Spell, doesn't it? The Potter-verse veiws it as a magical marriage contract, I presume. Of course, explaining how he is 'married' to Buffy, Willow, and Giles isn't what will get him diced into teeny, tiny pieces that even an electron microscope couldn't see. No, that outcome is from having to explain how he is Dawn's father. Xander hasn't been in this much trouble since the Love Spell incident.

Does he have enough money to set up an estate on Uranus?
Comments from author:
That does seem to be one logical explanation, doesn't it? Of course, when has logic ever played a part in any Scooby situations? ;-)

And why should Xander get blamed for what they monks did?

Yeah, I know the usual explanation - Buffy has never let facts get in the way of her hissy-fits before, so why should she start now?

The response to that should be, why doesn't she start acting like the adult she's supposed to be, and that she insists she is, and stop acting like the hormonal teenager that Dawn actually is.

And Willow ("I've Got My Magic Completely Under Control") is just as bad as Buffy, most times. Of course, at other times, she's even worse.

So do the Goblins know something that the rest of us don't, or did they make an assumption based on Xander's desire to descretely provide money to them?
Comments from author:
That's a very good question.

And when my muse tells me the answer, I'll be sure to tell all of my readers what she said. ;-)

Review:
I'm looking forward to seeing exactly what unintended circumstances result from any paperwork that Xander might have signed thanks to his bank manager. /snicker/

Seriously, in reference to one of the reviewers comments - it would be taxable income.

Now, if the Goblins treated it as a gift... By current law, that puts a whole different spin on things. You can gift up to a certain amount tax-free. The lifetime limit is currently 5 million for gifting to others in this manner. (The limit applies to the giver, not the receiver.) However, if he gifts 13k or less each year per person receiving the gift, the limit does not apply and it is still tax free.

i.e. He can give Dawn, Buffy, Giles, Anya, etc. each 13k and they don't have to pay taxes on it. Or, he can give any one of them up to 5 mil. And that one person won't have to pay taxes on it. However, that would reduce his lifetime amount by the amount given. If he gifted 200k for the house and we'll say... 300k for expenses for the next few years, he would only be able to gift - tax free - 4.5 mil for the rest of his life. If he gifted 200k for the house and 13k a year for the next several years, then he would only be down to 4.8 mil. Just as an example.

I'm not sure what the law was in 2000. (The year Tabula Rasa aired.) However, I think the lifetime limit might have been 1 million at that point.

The joys of internet research.

Seriously, though, now that I'm done pointing out the particulars of details most people don't consider. /laugh/ Great story! I want more!
Comments from author:
Glad you enjoyed the chapter.

Thanks for the info on the tax implications and consequences.

And any complications from any paperwork will be seen in upcoming chapters. ;-)

Good. The only problem I see with paying off the mortgage is the IRS. Wouldn't the IRS treat that as taxable income?

Yep. They want their cut of *everything*.
