Review of chapter "Epilogue: Far away on the other side" from lunalurker
Review:
I has a sad from this.
Comments from author:
The Epilogue was supposed to stop people getting a sad. My original intent was to end it with Laelryne's death but Curiouslywombat threatened to divorce me unless I added the Epilogue.

Review of chapter "Epilogue: Far away on the other side" from mendal
Review:
I found a website where someone had written to Lisa Smedman and according to the reply she got it was WOTC that made her kill off Eilistraee and they had to break canon rules to do it.
Comments from author:
I know it was WotC who dictated the outcome but I still resent the way Lisa did it, with Qilué and Eilistraee both acting like total idiots, and Lisa's pet Mary-Sue Halisstra Melarn being the one to strike the fatal (although not fatal by canon rules) blow. And I'm going to continue burning Lisa in effigy annually.

Review of chapter "Epilogue: Far away on the other side" from Oxnate
Review:
I'm not sure whether to like this one or not. It was good. Well written. Great battle scenes and very realistic. Maybe even too realistic. That all the Drow died was horribly depressing.

Good Story.

EDIT: Now I don't feel so bad for mentally comparing this to your wife's LoTR stories, of which I am a big fan.
Comments from author:
Thank you!

I must admit I was really depressed when I wrote it; my cat, deeply beloved pet of sixteen years, was going through the illness that ended in his death. In fact the final chapter was only added at the insistence of my wife Curiouslywombat who wouldn't let me end it the way I had originally planned.

Review of chapter "Epilogue: Far away on the other side" from MarcusRowland
Review:
OK, that's a different type of happy ending, but I suppose its as valid as any. Nice of the Valor to take them in. Loved the line about the Valor providing a guidebook!
Comments from author:
Thank you! Yes, in a 'verse where there is an Afterlife, death doesn't necessarily rule out a happy ending.

lol, okay, I will admit, that's one way to finish it :)
Comments from author:
Thank you! It was the only way I could finish it that my wife would accept.

Review of chapter "Brothers in Arms" from CrystalBlaze
Review:
The Valar take their own, no matter the parting nor its length.

Rest easy, Eilistraee. At the last, your goal was accomplished.
Comments from author:
I am so angry at Eilistraee's death that every year, on November 5th, I burn Lisa Smedman in effigy. And my 'fix-it' fics on the subject now run to half a million words.

Review of chapter "Brothers in Arms" from Sendai
Review:
Awesome too bad they all died. I was half expecting for divine magic to come back and ressurect them all :)
Comments from author:
Thank you! That would have been a cheat; I'm playing this totally straight according to the laws that operate in Arda.

Now you've done it! :(

But, wait...
They are elves and all elves in Middle-Earth are bound to the fate of Middle-Earth. If they die they go to the Halls of Mandos ...

Review of chapter "Brothers in Arms" from (Current Donor)Sithspit
Review:
Well, that was a "Rocks fall, everybody dies" moment.

Can't wait to see how THIS plays out.
Comments from author:
I wouldn't say it's a "Rocks fall, everybody dies" moment; they died fairly, in battle against overwhelming odds, not in a cheat ending like that of NWN2. More a '300 Spartans' moment.

The Epilogue will be Legolas POV.

That was extra depressing.

I'm afraid so. There is still an Epilogue to come...

Review of chapter "What a night for the Dancing Dead" from MarcusRowland
Review:
I really don't like where this seems to be going, but I can see how likely it is - I hope that at least the survivors (if any) will set the record straight.
Comments from author:
You'll have to wait and see - but not for long, it's all written, and I'll probably post it on Tuesday.

Review of chapter "What a night for the Dancing Dead" from BarbarossaRotbart
Review:
This chapter has a huge problem. You begin to kill character en masse. Do you plan that none of them will survive?
Comments from author:
I'm not going to answer that question at this stage - but remember the Terry Pratchett quote I use at the beginning of the story.

"They did the job they didn’t have to do, and they died doing it."

And the Lisa Smedman 'Lady Penitent' novels kill off almost everyone; hundreds of characters, including ones I had loved for many years. In fact I couldn't find anything in the books to indicate that there were even as many survivors as I show in this story - in canon Laelryne and Kyoroth probably didn't even make it out of the Promenade.
