You do good work my friend, now just do more of it :)
Please. I need to Xander and Cessily start an awkward yet adorable mutant romance, stat!

FreiheitReview:
Just finished your chapters and I am not sure of the way you are doing Xander. I keep thinking that Xander would have never allowed the non-mutant children to be kicked out of the school. If they wanted to go but not just being kicked out. Yet the next chapter of Xander going out to hunt the Purifiers I found was really close.
So far an interesting take on Xander in the Marvel Universe. Please keep writing, I would like to see where you are going with this.
Comments from author:
Ah, well, that's the thing. Xander might object to it, but he has no authority in the X-Mansion and he's only been there for a few days at that point, so he gets absolutely zero input when it comes to sending the depowered kids away for their own protection.

So, is Xander's finger situation a subconscious thing and after a while he'll be able to turn them back to flesh, or is it permanent?
Comments from author:
Yeah, it's pretty much permanent.

warfolomeiReview:
They didn't really ''fight'' about it, just promised Stark that they wouldn't take sides and all mutants on the school grounds are safe from the law. That's why they were surrounded by Sentinels, to keep watch. Some of the 198 didn't like it and escaped with the help of Domino. Scott, Warren, Hank and Bobby went to track them back. While Bishop worked under Stark to arrest them, stating that mutants should police their own. Even though Ororo was a mutant, she was ordered to register during her visit to states. So it's a probability that if X sneaks out again he can be arrested, especially after killing purifiers.
Her grown up version doesn't matter, having so much on her plate at that point.
Maybe romantic was too strong of a word. Think Willow, only more Mystic and Black Cat. Someone who would use and trick X for their own gain, only to get attach to him later on. Plus Invasion isn't going to happen for a while and they did clone a lot of known characters.
Yeah, I know. It's classified as dermal armor, with sub power of full diamond mimicry.
Diamondhead is pretty much the only criminal mutate with diamond body, but he isn't all that important. It's just if someone searches under male\diamond, X could be easily mistaken for him.
Comments from author:
Well that actually gives me a pretty decent excuse to keep Xander at the Mansion for a little while, if he's concerned with the idea of having to register.
And, seriously, I've got enough on my plate handling the characters I've got, I'm not bringing in an OC to complicate matters further.

Yes, I really do have this much spare time on my hands.
It's just something about night, that makes my comic book head go into overdrive.
Must point out again, that I am not trying to tell you how to write your story. Just adding some points you could have missed.
There is something that has been bugging me for a while, but I couldn't put my finger on it. I keep imagining X in the same shoes as Laura.. engineered clone with a mysterious past. Except unlike Laura (who was registered into database trough s.h.i.e.l.d.) X is a true citizen of united states. Because he is not a full clone of Emma, he can't be really considered as a ''true'' mutant. Putting him into genetically altered category. Alright, fine.. power is power, so why does it bother my head so much. Well what else is happening at that moment in the marvel universe ? Registration act O.O Do you see where I am going with this ? Sentinels around the school, analyzing everyone. Even though X men decided to sit this one out, they can't break a law of this magnitude. If you read Civil War ark, there is a good chance Stark would demand that they hand over X for the Initiative. Something to consider if you decide to branch out.
Not to mention the 198 mutants escape.
or at least mention that those things are happening around them.
Nothing big, just seeing Hope as a kid would do. Opens a lot of doors in the future.
If you still looking for a romantic interest, I vote for a skrull, Who doesn't know she is a skrull yet. Keeping her in Anya category and continuing Xanders streak with woman who are always more special than him.
If you ever decide on someone to teach about his powers.
>It's called dermal armor with diamond mimicry.
>Depending on how heavy armor is, users may sink in water.
>If one were to disrupt the process of "armoring up" the results would be user losing the ability for awhile.
>Selective armoring is rare, in short it is an "all or none" principle, either fully armored or not at all.
>May be weak against Vibration Emission and Sound Manipulation, as high-frequency waves may cause molecular-level shattering
>Form can be maintained indefinitely, and prevents visible aging.
>Power nullifier collars.
X can also be mistaken for Archibald Dyker aka Diamondhead.
Comments from author:
I hadn't really considered bringing in the whole Civil War thing, mostly because I'm pretty sure that the X-men fought to have mutants stay completely out of it, but I don't think that I'm going to have Xander get recruited for the program. 'True' mutant or not, Xander's powers are derived from the X-gene so he's free from the Initiative unless he signs up himself. I will bring the subject up, but the X-men won't be getting involved if they can avoid it.
Hope will probably be brought up, as she is a major storyline waiting to happen, but I'm not going to be able to write her character once she's all grown up.
As for romantic interests, I'm definitely not bringing in an OC for the part. I'm happy enough with how this is going so far that a romantic entanglement is maybe a possibility, but not strictly necessary.
And the power thing is interesting, but it's not just Xander's skin that becomes diamond, it's his entire physiology.
Also, I have no idea who 'Diamondhead' is outside of Ben 10.

So many good news, seems like all my worrying was for nothing.
I keep imagining him as Emma's first class movie form, you really should clarify it a bit.
This is jumping the gun a little, but he should really meet Hope Summers. It seems like only mutants that came in contact with her got any time later on.
Comments from author:
Wow, that is jumping the gun a tad. Hope Summers hasn't even been born at this point, and, honestly, I know very little about her, so I don't think I could write their interactions confidently.
I will clarify the feature thing sooner rather than later.

warfolomeiReview:
Just like with the rocket launcher, it's all connected. Job well done.
I always forget about Jessy, that's how downplayed the whole incident was.
"he's got a slight ego problem that is only now being taken care of." Goody, because it's going to be a bumpy ride after Limbo.
Hmm, it's just that Xander could interact with all sorts of people, but not all of those people liked him. Here some of his actions may seem antagonistic and if something hits the fan, he still has a home to run to... unlike some others. Not saying he would do that, but as with Jay, they don't know him well enough.
Something else to think about. Purifiers, Marauders and what other.. are a pretty evil bunch, even attacking some of the mutants families later on. This is even worst in Xanders situation. if they would stumble unto hellmouth while tracking his origins. If not a mask, than maybe a hoody to hide some of his features.
Comments from author:
I know what you mean, I don't think Jesse's death is ever even mentioned after the first episode. And Limbo definitely will not be a whole lotta fun.
Xander can interact with all sorts, but, at this point, he's pretty much only interacting with people through the team, with the exception of Jay who he actually brought onto the team. A lot of the students barely know anything about him other than some rumours or second hand accounts, so there may be tense situations ahead in a combat situation if students don't know how to react to him.
I wouldn't really worry about the mask thing, I've been meaning to mention for a while that, when Xander shifts, his features become somewhat indiscernible due to the way that the diamond interacts with the light, producing odd reflective effects and such.

Review of chapter "A Different Perspective" from
warfolomeiReview:
As long as it happens. That's why some people have trouble reading Superman, he is just too "super" in everything he does. It feels like most of his weaknesses are forced, just to add drama (Clark, fella, suit that blocks radiation was invented long ago)
Sorry, I meant it as something for the future. Growth as a character. Understanding the responsibility.
His match with Wolverine, Rockslide, Kimura and Colossus are like small glimpses into his transformation.
"Xander reacted on instinct, calling on his power and transforming his flesh" reflex,
"Never being one to lose graciously, Xander cheated" using his ability and a level head,
into "Xander ignored her, barreling straight into the woman" and "Xander and Santo charged towards the metal man" after his use of power increases.
This is why I have such high hopes for this story. I don't know if it was on purpose, but the end result can be magnificent. As I said before, an old plot but in a more subtle way. Spider-man before the demise of his uncle Ben. Magneto (first class movie) before Xavier.
Sociable, sure. Liked by everyone, not likely. Wait, does everyone know he killed people ?
Julian is a prime example of someone who could be on either side. Emma's real son, but not by choice. Forgiving Elixir, but still naive in his existence as a mutant. Hellion didn't play well with everyone and kept with his own group. It was really in character for him to pick another table just because of one person.
Comments from author:
I'm going to choose to take credit for that transformation. He starts off fighting as he normally does, using his power purely to enhance his effectiveness but he still gets by mostly on instinct, then, with Rockslide, he goes in strong and confident but is then forced to get smart when it turns out Santo has him matched. Then, with Colossus, Xander is overconfident in his ability to handle a big, strong opponent, only to get his ass kicked when it turns out that he's more than he seems. And then, with Kimura, he doesn't play around, he sees her, knows that Laura is terrified of her, and goes in aiming to kill, only to be surprised when she turns out to be invulnerable, and then getting his ass kicked again. Predator X, interestingly, is probably the type of adversary he has the most experience with, and there, recently humbled, even though its abilities take him by surprise, he is able to adapt.
I really find this story interesting to write because, well, Xander's already seen the death of his 'Uncle Ben' in the form of Jesse, which led to him joining Buffy in slaying, but now he's got powers of his own and is already aware that he will use them to fight, but, with both his experience and new abilities, he's got a slight ego problem that is only now being taken care of.
And, sort of. Everyone knows that Xander and Laura did something, and the specifics of that something aren't a secret, but only about half of the students know with certainty that Xander and Laura actually killed Purifiers.
As for Julian, he doesn't play well with many people, and he may be slightly jealous of Xander's biological connection, but he has long gotten over Elixir's past, much more preoccupied with more recent events. But, yeah, he can be dedicated and loyal to his friends, but he can also be pretty petty, hence avoiding most of his friends because of a single person.

warfolomeiReview:
Thanks to Logan's own special medicine, booze and woman. Maybe been with Xmen and receiving help from Xavier had a small role in his recovery >.>
Some small loss of control would be nice to see. It's like he knows a bit, but there is still more to find out and learn. School with mutants for a reason.
EXACTLY, except now he can use that experience to his advantage. Rehashing old plans to fit new situations.
(That military grade rocket launcher, from an army base, from a fake memory, from a spell, from a grudge.. it was all connected)
Maybe use a bit more variations in his tactics. For example... the enemy is behind a cover, X doesn't know what else is behind that cover, oh look there are some grenades in the box near him or that enemy is firing unknown weapon from the top of a building, oh look someone dropped a rifle or this seems to be an evil layer, oh look a truck going towards it, maybe I should take the evil drivers place and so on. Not just Xander see, Xander slash... especially if he is in a company with a more innocent teammate. Some mutants didn't approve of the way Laura handled things, even if it helped. Kind of like Nick Fury Secret Wars, was it a right thing to do or not. Does the end justify the means.
Wasn't Julian a bit of an Emma's boy, looking for her approval until the debacle concerning Laura ? Trying to stop her from killing people later on. Plus his hate for Elixir, in this case Xander was understandably forgiving (from a human point of view), but completely misguided in a mutant way.
Comments from author:
There's plenty left for him to discover, and I agree that seeing him lose a bit of control would be interesting, but it might not be seen immediately.
Xander hasn't really been in a position where, well, anything like that is much of an option. The whole 'Xander see, Xander slash' is a bit of an exaggeration, but I will be trying to show some more variability in Xander's fighting strategy... just as soon as Xander runs up against something where his current one won't work. And, no, plenty of mutants do not approve of Laura's actions, nor do they approve of Xander's role in some of those plans, Xander's just a whole lot more sociable than Laura ever was.
Yeah, to start with Julian was pretty much Emma's devout follower, until she went a little too far on the X-23 hate, and, yeah, at one point he did despise Elixir for his past involvement with Reavers/Purifiers, but I'm really not sure what you're getting at with Xander being 'misguided in a mutant way'.
