Squeee! How do you always know when I'm thinking of this??? I just reread the whole series last night and now I'm gonna again, this time in order.

Anywho, the promise thing was interesting and does tend to combine the human world with everything else, or everything else with the human world or something. 10/10 for sure.

...just had an idea. If you want to infer that Buffy's makebelieve world was in fact just an alternate universe or something, write her meet-n-greet with Anita or another necromancer who may or may not mention that she is imbued with some sort of strange necromancy trait.

...another idea, do tiny oneshots with Buffy and interactions as sentences with her children and maybe others around that are important to her. It can be done kinda quickly if you just give like three sentences to a tale.

Thanks for the suggestions. More than one person has inferred that they would like to see that the makebelieve world was actually real. I actually have an idea for a fic, but I'm not sure if I'd want it to be part of the series or make it a one off on its own.

The sentence idea is a good one as well. It inspired a few interesting ideas. :D

I do have a few fics for this series at various stages on development and I think today I'll work on a few of them because I can't resist. :D

I'm SO thrilled to see another snippet from this universe. I think Buffy's relationship with her kids is so wonderful, and you do a great job bringing to life how much they mean to each other. I am also loving the Buffy/Derek dynamic so even a glimpse of him is fabulous. I feel like it's about time Buffy winds up with a guy who is devoted to her, and Derek seems to fit the bill. Would love to see more as your life and muse permit.

Thank you so much. I do love Buffy's relationship with her kids. It's so pure and while there is a little angst involved (especially in the early days) mostly they're all happy moments/fics. I agree with you about Buffy deserving happiness and Derek certainly loves her. There will be more.

Actually, yesterday I was checking out all of your challenges because I was looking for a challenge to respond to (and yours are always so inventive). I'm thinking of working on the "This Won't Switch Off' because it's pure evil and I love Joyce. :D Either that, or I might write a companion to Ulfric Incarnate.

The response to is giving me the motivation to post the other fics that I have written (there are quite a few, some, like this one, I hold off posting because I think they're too sappy or focused too much on the kids).

I can not readily express how much a new story from this universe makes me feel. The closest thing would be if your greatly missed brother or sister comes home for a few days, unexpectedly. Keep up the good work and if the inspiration strikes then write another one. In the meantime I will be reading the series all over again.

I love how much Buffy's kids care about her and vice versa. So, so sweet.

And also, Buffy/Derek is awesome.

I admit that writing Buffy and her kids is pretty much my favourite thing to write. I can't resist it. I always walk away feeling happy after writing with that level of love between characters.

And Buffy and Derek... it thrills me that people have taken to this story when essentially all but one regular is an original character.

I can just imagine that this is a two way ritual just as you have described. Both parties (Buffy and her kids) know that they cannot really protect the other, but that isn't going to stop them from trying!

It's a really difficult time for them, especially for Luke (who fears losing Buffy fear more than anyone because of what they've been through together). In my mind, Luke hunts as fast as he can and then he patrols the woods near the house because he can't bear to leave Buffy too unprotected.

Love your Guardian series more Buffy/Derek! :)
