That ending was a relief, in a way -- I honestly wasn't expecting that choice after that build-up. It's still sad, but not nearly as bad as it could've been. And Giles flipped destiny the bird, just like a proper Scooby should. Good, enjoyable work.
One typo, though - it should read
“I could bring her back,” said Voldemort.
instead of
“I could bring her back.” Said Voldemort.

while I like the idea, I think each fragment could have used an additional paragraph or three to flesh them out and sell the whole thing a bit better. bravo.

Well, nothing saying he can't go kill the Watcher's Council anyway now. Their security obviously sucked so badly someone could just walk in with a bomb.
Great story, as usual! I was not sure how Giles would act until the end. How about a sequel? He killed Voldemort, I doubt that he would let Quentin Travers and company walk away ... Darth Giles on a vengance mission doesn't sound too bad, does it?
Um. Whoa doesn't seem to be a strong enough expression of astonishment. I'm sitting here with wide eyes, and when I got to the last bit, I actually sat up straighter. It was short, but compelling, and I like it very much. and wouldn't it be a kick if Giles' birthday was July 31, but he's not Harry Potter? *facepalm* Oh no... now I've gone and done it. There are new plot bunnies in my warren gain...
