I like this beginning, and hope you come back to Genesis sooner rather than later. There's a tremendous amount of potential here. It's nice to see Buffy plunked into Middle Earth and not immediately be in the Fellowship or immediately in love with Legolas or Aragorn. :-) Hooray for variety and a different approach!

This is an absolutely fantastic start! I'm already completely enthralled and can't wait to see where this goes. Your writing, as always, is superb - you can really feel the POV shift with each character, something that's really hard to capture (or maybe that's just me... :P). This must be a beast to work on, between the amnesia, the language barrier and the research you must've put in. But your hard word is certainly paying off - seriously an impressive read so far. You know I'm going to give you no peace about updating this now, right? :P

Gandalf might get a big shock if he seems the amulet & realizes what it is.. I do like the not speaking any Middle Earthian language and not joining the Fellowship.
Hopefully the amnesia won't last forever... it could cut down on her quip-age. ... Any chance Spike will re-materialize 'here'? He'd be a very weird character to have in ME, admittedly.
The Rohirrim --good choice, they somewhat accept women warriors. And with her strength & skills, no problems with medieval fighting/weapons. If anything this is a place where she can really shine--no guns, physical strength matters a lot, and all that.

Started to get a lot clearer with this chapter, probably something to do with being from the POV of someone without amnesia.
It's a good start to what promises to be an interesting story, I'm looking forward to seeing where you take this.

I love it. This fic came just in time for me to be interested in reading LotR/Buffy crossovers again, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it. I always like it when the realism of Buffy not speaking the language is taken into account, as well as the drastic differences in culture between modern American culture and Middle Earth culture. That's been nicely postponed due to her amnesia. Buffy in Rohan is also another favorite idea of mine, particularly if she ends up butting heads with Theoden about fighting at Helm's Deep. *grins*
