Review:
nitpick

The Model 1860 Henry rifle was rather obsolete by 1880 or so, having been replaced by various Winchester models such as the Model 1866 (aka the "Yellow Boy" for its brass frame), the famous Model 1873 (chambered for more powerful center fire cartridges) and later models.
A smart British professional soldier in the American West in the 1890s probably would have carried a rifle dating from the 1880s or earlier 1890s, being both more powerful and more reliable than earlier repeating rifles.

Note that the 1860 Henry and the later Winchester rifles all were made by the same company.

Comments from author:
I'm good at British Military weapons (and even US ones) from this time, not so hot on US civilian arms.

I was sort of using the name 'Henry' as a generic term rather than a actual type of rifle.

Nitpick all you like, its one of the ways we learn.

I really must do some more stories in this series, I've got several planned out but no time (at the moment) to write.

Darn!

Cheers,
D.

I remember this old western from when I was a kid and you followed close to the plot in the movie. Hmm going to California, too late for the gold rush, too early for Hollywood. It'll be interesting to see what crossover you come up with next. Faith seemed to fit pretty good into the old west. Falling for an old geezer wasn't out of line. I vaguely remember her first words when she saw Giles ... said he was hot, or something to that effect in the Buffy series.
Another good read, you never disappoint.
Comments from author:
Thank-you very much. The next story in this series will be a while but I have got a xover picked out. I intend to make this a five story series, I know what the last xover will be its number four I'm a little stuck with but I'm sure I'll think of something.

Cheers,
D.

Some of the people Faith and Albert have met, would likely send reports to Washington, about the excellent work that Marshal Lehane done.
They didn't have the chance to have their clothes washed. They must be stiff!
Great story.
Comments from author:
You could be right about the Washington thing, I'll try and remember that when I get round to writing the nextstory in the series.

Review:
Michael Cain from that Kipling story as the movie is the Major. But I am probably ignoring all descriptive passages of the Major you have in the story. No matter, I enjoyed it all.
Comments from author:
Had to think really hard about what you meant there. I'm guessing 'The Man Who Would Be King', seen the film done the xover! MC's character was a Sergeant in that film and Faith ended up shagging him in the xover. Albert was an officer and a gentleman! I actually based him on a historical character with a similar sounding name.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.

You mentioned Horror Express? I remember picking it up because it had both Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing.

BTW, if you can't find the DVD, it's on Hulu.
Comments from author:
That's the one! And yes I've already got the DVD. I actually saw this in the cinema when it first came out!

A good ending to a good story. Here's hoping Faith and Albert manage to keep each other alive for a long (and no doubt busy) life.
Comments from author:
We'll see we have other stories in this series planned. When they'll get written and posted I don't know but I'm going to try.

Cheers,
D.

I enjoyed this quite a bit, not a combination I would have imagined for Faith but nicely written. Thanks.

A nice peaceful train ride should settle them down just fine. Nothing bad ever happens on a train. California here they come!
* Wouldn't it be funny if it later turns out the Chase family is descended from Faith, i.e. Cordelia?
Comments from author:
Now that's just evil!

Like you say nothing bad ever happens on a train.

Bad move of Albert calling Faith's name. He was relieved to see her, hence the call.
Faith's riding skill reminds me of Mongol horsemen firing arrows at targets; very skilful.

Or Boer Commandos.

A film set on a train ? The only one that springs to mind is "Murder on the Orient Express" which isn't the right tome period OR the right location - but it just might work anyway, with a little fiddling. Looking forward to it, once Red Shirt is dealt with.
Comments from author:
A little known film from the late 70's, 'Horror Express'. Its about the right time period and although its set in Russia it can be moved to the US.

Red Shirt will meet his doom!

Albert may get the idea eventually if she uses hand puppets to explain...

Nah, she'll need to hit over the head with something!

So much for walks by night. Almost done. Next... heading for the west coast, maybe? It'll be interesting to see which film you 'do' next. Stagecoach? The Searchers?
Comments from author:
Yeah, only a couple more plot twists to do!

Where next? Now that's a hard one, did think about Stagecoach, the Searchers might be interesting (I'd need to get the DVD) There is one film, right time period wrong location, set on a train that could be made to fit quite nicely.

We'll have to see.

Cheers,
D.

What did Albert do, to teach Faith about tactics?
Nice one with the vamp and Faith's opinion of herself.
Comments from author:
Oh, I expecxt he just sat around the camp fire and told her stories. At the time I doubt Faith even realised he was teaching her things.

Cheers,

Review of chapter "Chapter Ten." from (Current Donor)MaxGSandeman
Review:
Rynders' mistake, was to assume white people are smart and 'Indians' are dumb. Who's dumb now? That group got what they deserved.
Initially, I thought Red Shirt was a vamp with the Gem of Amara, but he wasn't strong enough, so a spell and something to do with the bones he was wearing and the vamp's little dance. The power of the spell should fade, but not soon enough for everyone.
Faith needs a very sharp axe or sword. Red Shirt end up like the Black Night from Monty Python in The Holy Grail.
Comments from author:
Indeed, you will soon find out!

Cheers,
D

“Y’know, B,” Faith told her horse, “I’m just too good!”

Yah! For Faith is what I say.
