Review of chapter "Chapter Two" from (Recent Donor)nerfherder
An interesting approach to introducing common sense to BTVS!
Comments from author:
"Moi?" (looks offended) "Introducing common sense into the Joss-verse?!!! Please!!! Do not offend my responsibilities with such nonsense!" ;-)

Thanks for reviewing, and I'm glad you enjoyed the story. ;-)

Review of chapter "Chapter Two" from ChefJackButler
No such thing as a fair fight was a rule I learned while earning my black belt.

This deserves to be continued.
Comments from author:
Yes, there really isn't any such thing as a fair fight - just one where there are agreed-upon rules. ;-)

Anything more is up to my muse's whims. ;-)

Review of chapter "Chapter Two" from Oxnate
Very good points though perhaps a bit heavy handed.
Comments from author:
I'm being just as subtle with regards to characterization as the various writers were at this point in the series.

Review of chapter "Chapter Two" from Hyperion
This was an unexpected but very nice and interesting update.

As a couple of people have mentioned, I hope you don't try to turn this into a Xander wank fic. I personally don't see it as such right now, but something to keep in mind.

That being said, it is nice to see Xander having better potential that what the Scoobies seemed to give him starting from around season 3 onwards.

If you continue this story at any point, maybe another idea you could mention would be Xander or someone suggesting slaying during the daytime perhaps? Wouldn't be the first time that's been done, but given how this story has gone so far, such a suggestion wouldn't be an unusual idea. I take it from the last part of this chapter 2 that Giles is at least someone sympathetic and supportive of Xander's comments and ideas as well. Finding out that Giles somewhat approves of Xander's idea could make Buffy somewhat more receptive of anything else that Xander suggests down the line.
Comments from author:
This started out as a complete crack!fic, so anything is possible. ;-)

Review of chapter "Chapter Two" from Difdi
That's really a very good point. After all, how many of her opponents does Buffy beat barehanded? How did she win her fight during the Cruciamentum, when she only had the strength of a normal 18 year old female?

If using a weapon (physical or chemical -- don't forget, holy water counts as a chemical weapon against vampires) or trickery is cheating and any fight you have to cheat to win doesn't count, then Buffy's win/lose/draw record is pretty pathetic too.

Using male logic on a female opinion is nearly always considered cheating, in my experience.

And to address what burmafrdnow wrote in his review, I can attest to how easily a human can be knocked out. I once had that unique sensation of waking up on the floor with no memory of falling asleep or lying down while unfolding one of those memory wire & mesh laundry baskets. And those are MUCH softer and less powerful than a brass knuckle clad punch you don't see coming.

If Buffy were just plain immune to human strength punches even concentrated the way brass knuckles do, then she would also have nothing to fear from a human slashing her with a sword. For that matter, most smaller caliber pistols would be ineffective.

Slayers are still human physically, just stronger than normal.
Comments from author:
Yeah, using logic in your arguments is apparently cheating, too, I guess. ;-)

Response to edit:

I agree with you completely. I've seen both sides of the sucker punch issue, and it makes it quite easy to knock someone out.

Review of chapter "Chapter Two" from ubiquitous
Didn't really approve of Xander doing that to Cordelia and Willow though I thought doing it in the fight with Buffy was appropriate and served to make his point. Despite the way that Cordelia and Willow, particularly Willow, were treating him his response in the fic seems a bit disproportionate and brutish.
Comments from author:
Abuse, whether it be physical (as Willow did) or verbal and social (Cordelia) needs to be confronted and it made clear to the abusers tha tit wil lno longer be tolerated.

And if you check transcripts of the episodes, both girls' behavior was completely in line with their canon portrayals.

Awesome! You have everyone of the girls and Giles totally in character. I loved it when he got Cordelia and what he said. Can't wait for more.

Cheating, the best way to win =D!.

Review of chapter "Chapter Two" from BlueEyedBrigadier
Wow....that went about as swimmingly as I would expect such an event to happen. I am glad that Xander has jumpstarted a neglected part of Willow's brain, but I do get the feeling he's not gonna make it easy on his friend since she and Buffy have been dismissive of his efforts.

Comments from author:
Since Willow has already shown she's perfectly willing to shit all over him if it helps strengthen her friendship with Buffy, why would Xander want to make things easy for her?

I love this, way better than giving Xander magic or superpowers.
Comments from author:
Yeah, Joss seemed to want to denigrate science and technology in the shows for some reason. ;-(

Review of chapter "Chapter One" from burmafrdnow
a punch from a normal human even with brass knuckles renders a slayer unconcsious?

Do you realize how STUPID that is?

That means every Vamp that ever hit Buffy would have knocked her out!

Especially since a vamp has several times the strength of a human and brass knuckles do not really mean that much.

I guess this is another xander wank story. So I leave you to your fantasy world.
Comments from author:
Actually, having spent years fighting in and out of the ring, I know exactly how hard - and how easy - it is to knock someone unconscious.

Sucker punching someone who isn't expecting to be hit at that moment is a perfect way to knock someone out. I've seen it happen, and had it happen to me.

And using brass knuckles *does* make a significant difference in the result you're trying to accomplish, since it focuses and reinforces the striking power you're inflicting. It would help your credibility if you knew what you're talking about.

If you're looking for Buffy wank stories, as it would appear, to judge by your comments and your own stories, you're obviously looking in the wrong place.

Review of chapter "Chapter Two" from LFW
I like how you are changing Xander in this; not just chemistry but psychology too.
It did seem a shame that in a library they only read the demon books.
Looking forward to more of this
