Review of chapter "Chapter Five" from MickyLee
As with most of your other stories (that I've been binge reading for the last week or so), loving this one.
I am curious what the box 'o goodies that Future X had Current X pull from the attic is. He opens the main box, oohs and ahhs over the sword and 2 other boxes he sees, and then promptly forgets about them?
Comments from author:
Nope, he definitely hasn't forgotten about them. While a sword's function is relatively straightforward and generally doesn't require any special instruction to use properly, the function of the items in the boxes are going to need to be explained by Older-Xander, and he felt that this wasn't the time to do that.

As you can check, I noted that Older-Xander had interrupted Current-Day-Xander before he could really ask any questions about the legacy he'd been informed of, because Older-Xander was more concerned about determining exactly what the time period he'd returned to, was, since he was hoping he would be able to rescue Willow from dying at Ampata's hands.

As far as actual time passing is concerned, it probably took less than a a half-hour for Older-Xander to give Current-Day-Xander a summary of everything that happened to him in the future, so not all that much time has actually elapsed. Once things have stabilized a bit, they'll return to a discussion of his new toys, and everyone will find out exactly what they can do.

Glad you're enjoying the story. ;-)

Review of chapter "Chapter Five" from (Current Donor)dogbertcarroll
Cordelia's his sister-aunt?

-Discovering (too late) that the town's esteemed Mayor, Richard Wilkins III, was not only his supposed father and grandfather, but that he had developed a century-long plan to sacrifice the entire town as part of scheme to transform himself into the embodiment of a pure demon species no longer extant on this place of existence? That had been more than a slightly mind-blowing and eye-opening shock.

If the mayor is his Father and Grandfather as well as being Cordelia's dad....

Note: Discovering (too late) that the town's esteemed Mayor, Richard Wilkins III, was not only his supposed father and grandfather...
Comments from author:
Not exactly sure who you're referring to. Cordelia is Wilkins' illegitimate daughter, as one of the characters has already noted.

Resps0one to edit:

Nope, Wilkins is not related to Xander in any way, so therefore, he's also not related to Cordelia in any way.

Which part made you think Xander is related to Wilkins? I'll have to correct that.

Just how badly you plan to mess with Xander in this fic? Cordelia turns out to be an enemy, and at the same time, you throw in a not quite evil demon who looks exactly like her as his ally him? Can you say 'ouch'?
Comments from author:
Well, this Scooby-verse is significantly different from canon, and you'll see additional examples of just how different in the next couple chapters. ;-)

While I am enjoying your very dark story, I wish you could update faster. I know, real life happens, but I really can't wait to find some happiness in your 'nasty' AU. For instance, did Kendra die before Dru and Spike were dusted and what happened to Faith? And with Willow dead, what about Tara? I love Alternate History stories and this is a gem. OK, right now a dark and depressing gem, but I hope the Returned Ones can do some good, kick some Evil asses and make it all bright and shinny! Or at least a lighter grey.
Comments from author:
Thanks for reviewing and letting me know your opinion of the story.

Kendra did not die in the library attack during which the vampires kidnapped Giles, but she was seriously injured and hospitalized, and Sam Zabuto came to town and escorted her home. Because of this, Faith wasn't Called as her replacement.

Xander never met Tara, because pretty much the entire senior class died at Graduation. He survived, but suffered the horrific injuries described at the start of this story, and never went to college, afterwards. More on that aspect of his life will be revealed in the course of future chapters.

Not to worry, things won't continue in this vein for too much longer, since Younger Xander is going to be introducing Older Xander to Buffy and Giles very soon. ;-)

running this many changes along side events that supposedly could have happened just doesn't feel right to me. Change someones parentage and you change the person. I only like changing the future, not the past.
Comments from author:
I'm establishing the background to show just how these variations of the canon characters differ from them, and what led to those changes.

And given the established canon characterization of Season One and Two Cordelia, this doesn't change her personality all that much. For the most part, she was an arrogant, self-centered, vicious bitch towards pretty much everyone, regardless of whether they were one of her minions or not. All I changed was the identity of her actual father, and fleshed out her in-story relationship with him. I see nothing wrong with changing a character's background as I wish, as long as it doesn't contradict established canon, and would still do so if it made for a good story.

The canon particulars of Cordelia's parentage were never discussed as far as I can recall, and both of her parents were basically vague descriptions which barely covered the basics of their relationships with her.

You killed Willow? How could you! I am so upset! :(
Comments from author:
I'm showing why Xander believed his life sucked, and why he was so emphatic in his efforts to try and change it.

Willow and Jesse were the central focus of Xander's life prior to their meeting Buffy, and Jesse's loss was extremely traumatic for him in canon.

Losing Willow after previously losing Jesse was emotionally devastating to him, and this will figure significantly in some of his future decisions, so I wanted to make sure my readers understood what's driving Xander's focus.

Review of chapter "Chapter Four" from Gideon
Well if Cordy was the Mayor's illegitimate daughter then I can understand her siding with him. I can't condone it but I can understand it. And poor Xander, he doesn't even get full control of his body like the others and he is too late to save Willow. With Ampata taking Willow from him I can see him being a lot less charitable if he ever met up with Anya in that timeline :(
Comments from author:
The Cordelia Chase shown in the first season of BtVS was all about power and how she could make sure she was better than anyone else. This 'verse is showing that aspect of her personality taken further along that route, and the reasons behind it.

And Future-Xander's situation is a lot worse than Andy's and Kyra's is, because his younger personality, after the pack incident, had actually made an effort to strengthen his mental protection in an effort to prevent himself from ever being possessed again.

*These versions of Xander, both future and current, are a *lot* less forgiving than canon Xander, as you'll see in upcoming chapters.

Nice last line, if very disturbing. More, please?

With Willow and Joyce already dead, this is one fracked up time-line. Now I'm wondering what about Faith and Kendra?
Comments from author:
Yes, this timeline is *seriously* messed-up, as I had indicated in earlier chapters. ;-(

I'm showing you just how bad it was for Xander and why he was so motivated to do something about it, and why he was willing to go to such extremes.

You'll find out more about Kendra's and Faith's situations in upcoming chapters.

Your Wilkins having an illigitimate daughter is definitely OOC from Canon. For all his evil plotting, infidelity wasn't something I would have expected of him. However, nice plot twist.
Comments from author:
More will be explained about Wilkins seeming OOC behavior in upcoming chapters. There is a reason for everything he did, and it will eventually be revealed.

Glad you enjoyed the story.

Review of chapter "Chapter Three" from draconis
Good beginning. The xover mix is promising. Interesting bit that you tossed naquadah into the box. Hope that means SG1 and/or at least one Goa'uld make an appearance. Those snakes won't know what hit them if they meet 'true' gods.

Glad to see Kyra is getting a new lease on life. Always was bummed she was killed-off in the series.

I do have to say, the merest spectre of a thought of Andrew as being immortal is ultra-scary. Perhaps this should be shoe-horned into the 'Horror' genre.
Comments from author:
Well, it's pretty much a dead certainty SG-1 will be showing up sometime. The whole question is going to be *when* they appear, and that won't be for a while, yet.

And while the idea of canon-Andrew as an Immortal is scary, *this* version of him, Andy, is a very different person completely.

Review of chapter "Chapter Three" from (Recent Donor)redjacobson
I'm sorry, but considering I've never watched Charmed, and only know the characters from FanFiction, I really have no idea what the hell that last part of the story is all about.

Comments from author:
Not a problem, man.

Kyra arrived at a very inconvenient time when she was 'entertaining' the Source, the ruler/head Big Bad of the Charmed side of the supernatural world, and when the current body of the Source was destroyed, the essence of the Source simply found a new home - Belthazor. He was pretty much the next one in line, and I suppose it coudl be compared to the Slayer Spirit seeking out its next abode after its current residence dies.

Hope that helps.

Review of chapter "Chapter One" from GwynApNudd
Xander and Kira expected to die to give Andrew the chance to go back, but all three made the trip into their younger selves' minds. And Xander, with his "buttmonkey" luck arrived during either a dream or a mental attack and became part of the weirdness... (Nice twist.)

Did Kira go back in time further than the guys? Or are you tinkering with the Charmed timeline? In any case, I assume that she is the one calling Andrew. Part of the fact-checking that she is doing to orient herself before explaining herself to Grams, Leo, and the Elder. Plus, how does Grams know Leo and the Elder to call on them like that?

Orchid --

I'm not Greywizard, and don't know where the story is going, but I got the impression that Andrew's thoughts of "killing" his younger self is not so much wiping him out of existence as realizing the fact that all the future memories men that he will not be thinking the same thoughts and making the same decisions as the first time around. So it's not a question of possession but of perspective. Xander is less introspective than Andrew, and so it will not be as much an issue, especially if what is going on is a magical attack which splintered Xander's emotions/motivations, etc. When he is re-integrated and wakes up, his future memories will just be another aspect of the re-integration. Xander will still be the high-school Xander. He will just have important memories from the future.
Comments from author:
I'm pleased you're enjoying the story, and yes, Xander and Kyra fully expected to die during the ritual they performed to send Andy back into his younger body. Why they didn't die, and how they ended up back in the present, alongside Andy, will be a topic of discussion in upcoming chapters.

Yes, I'm playing with the timelines to suit myself, although there is no real canon statements regarding where Kyra would have been at this particular moment, as far as I can determine. As far as Grams is concerned, again, I'm not aware of any canon decrees as to who she did or did not know at this particular point in time, so I'm taking advantage of author's fiat and stating that she is acquainted with both of them, having met each of them in the course of her career as a witch.

With regard to Andy's indicating that he 'killed' his earlier self, you're more or less correct, in that Andy realized that his earlier self would not ever be reacting the way a teenager would after receiving his late self's memories, and thus would be essentially absorbed by the personality that those memories would necessarily help establish in reaction to their arrival.

And Xander's apparent fractured personality will be addressed in the next chapter.
