*ROFLMAO!*

A perfect take down of all of the various "character soandso dresses as [insert costume here] and... " tales. And the mental image of Ethan repeating Halloween endlessly over the past ten years is just priceless. ;)

Love to be able to go back to the beginning and watch (read) the whole tale through up to this point, but I can kinda understand how you might not want to go through all the work of doing that much creative writing. Still, properly done, it'd be hilarious.

Just when I thought it was starting to get impossible to come up with a truly original take on the Halloween episode...
Comments from author:
well, not truly original.

blame Xanderhog Day.

Oh I have to agree with GreyWizard - you have a marvelous set-up: Ethan stuck in Groundhog Day. The poor sod deserves it and it'll be fun to see his response to how everything works...
Comments from author:
Yeah, but Xanderhog day is brilliant and I doubt I can match it. (anyone who suggests otherwise either doesnt know me or hasn't read it)

Lordy, lordy, I'd like to see what happens this time around! Basically, I figure Xander will be suspicious, but has seen enough of what goes around by now that he's willing to give it a shoe - especially after Ethan's little display of foreknowledge about himself and His Girls - and allows Ethan a chance at helping everyone out.

Buffy is still ditzy enough to get her back up about her Precious-He-Has-A-Soul-Even-If-He-Is-A-Walking-Corpse, so it'll take a lot of argument to prevent her from going the ball gown route. Xander will need Willow's help here, BUT...

Willow is going to be hyperventilating about everything she just heard as well as Ethan's rather forceful way of putting things. Her whole view of the Slayer/Vampire Romance is so skewed but deep in her mind that I don't really know if she can let it go at this point, so whether or not Xander gets any help from her at this point. She is also the one most likely to want to contact Giles about this...

Ethan, the poor Bas***d, has been getting beaten up every night for the last 10 years from his point of view, so I think he'd be paranoid enough to have set up some form of enforcement about the whole No Giles Contact as well as the costumes they have to chose from. Even though he isn't allowed to force a specific one on them, as seen he /can/ try to make them avoid the prior disastrous choices. And another point - did Ethan see the results of his Chaos Spell on the children of the town? Did the Forces throwing him into 10 years worth of repeats force him to witness the innocents he harmed with the spell, and now he's getting a chance to /stop/ it and help the Slayer and her friends instead of the harm he caused?

... makes ya wonder...
Comments from author:
thanks for the review.

Xander - its entirely in character for him to be either suspicious or not. he's a malleable character - hence why a popular one among fanfic circles.

Buffy - yeah, agreed.

Willow - ohmygodIcantrightwillowbabblesoyoullhavetoimagineit.

not so much having seen it, as made aware on one of the few where he goes out of the shop to watch and seeing the horrible consequences, and actually becoming desensitized to it.

You realise, of course, that he must get them to embrace luck AND do penance? Understanding the madness of unleashing chaos without any particular cause is probably the key to it.

In the movie, Phil had to grow as a person and accept the world as it was to ever move out of the loop. Ethan's spell says it all. "Janus, I remain, as always, your degenerate son." He ain't leaving the loop until that's no longer the case.
Comments from author:
Eh, I figure that it would be different for him. Janus telling him at one point, "Hey, it's what you wished for." :P

RAOTFLMAO! Talk about karmic justice. Well done and your story sure did make me laugh.
Comments from author:
ah, gud gud. Yeah, it is karma. I think I remember Ethan saying at some point 'be careful what you wish for'.
