A bit sceptical about the idea of Giles STILL believing the Council's crap about the Doctor after he helped Buffy prevent Toby's escape- even if Buffy only provided some details, she couldn't exactly have omitted EVERYTHING if she wanted to justify her actions-, but nice touch with that last scene about the starlight.
Comments from author:
Oh, yeah, this took place quite a while after Don't Be was set, didn't it? I think I sort of forgot about that. Basically, most of this was an excuse to get that last scene in.

Beautiful. I absolutely loved the conversation between Buffy and the Doctor, especially the last bit where the Doctor talks about the stars. Very deep and philosophical. It's too bad he's not sharing everything with her about his association with Angel, but then the Doctor isn't one to give up the secrets of his past so easily.
I hope Giles can be convinced that the Doctor means no harm. I suppose I'll just have to read on to find out.

I was surprised at the brevity of the Doctor's association with Angel. I do, however, love how the rest of the story went. It was very sweet and poignant.
Comments from author:
Oh, your surprise is well founded. It's a very acute observation that the Doctor is not telling everything he knows. Originally, I did have the Doctor telling everything he knew, and it was just not that believable. So I cut out essentially everything, leaving just the bare-bones details. But don't worry, in the sequel to "Don't Be", there's a lot more.

They really need to deal with Giles believing that The Doctor is the enemy, maybe ask him to seek out non-council sources of info. Hey, Anya might know a bit about him and be able to explain that the Doctor is a force for good. Now in thanks for this chapter - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWLW5YI-YPQ
Comments from author:
She probably would, but by this point in the series, Anya isn't really a big factor in the Scoobies' lives.

Yes that sounds like the Doctor. He loves the intricate plots and sometimes forgets that simple is best. Or that proactive beahviour may save lives. Like when he took on mortal guise and a village was terrorized. He could have imprisoned his enemies for the three months it would take them to die, but nooo... And then afterwards he tortured them for eternity, just like he seeks to torment Angel, to assuage his own guilt. Angel's reaction was quite correct however he does need to tell Buffy something.
And the Doctor really needs to work on getting places in a timely fashion.

Yay more of this story I like. I love that the Dr. helped her, will Angel come clean about being warned about the whole moment of happiness thing? Cuz if I remember correctly the Dr. gave him a chance to become purely human when he saw Buffy for the first time. or was that when it was? I don't suppose there will be a happy ending at the end of your series for The Dr and Buffy?
