Joss did a fair number of stupid things but that was BY FAR the dumbest. If they had to write Anthony out PUT HIM IN A COMA OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

Not leave the poor girl that is still traumatized.

Beyond moronic

I cannot begin to tell you how satisfying it is to see Blair yelling some sense into Giles, rather than allowing season 6 to proceed as in canon. Talk about an elephant in the living room that nobody wants to acknowledge! It never made any sense to me (in terms of character or real expectations for what a young woman in Buffy's position should be expected to endure) that Giles would have honestly thought that leaving under those conditions was the right thing to do. Thanks for writing this.

I always disapproved of Giles running out on the kids like that. It never really made sense based on canon characterization and the group dynamics.
Well done.

Yay Blair! I always wondered what the hell use Giles thought it would be if he left... I mean, he's an intergal part of the Scoobies...they can't function as well without him, even if he didn't think so.

Yes! Thank you. I wanted to beat Giles over the head with a two-by-four for deciding to leave when he did. Stupidest thing he ever did. It's about time somebody talked some sense into him. Blair was right about everything he covered. Plus you left out the fact that Buffy probably has a severe case of post traumatic stress syndrome from the whole dying and gettting yanked out of Heaven. Near-death exeperiences can cause post traumatic stress. It never occured to Giles that actual death would cause it? That's usually treated with therapy, not abandonment.

Glad you liked it... and it's good to know I wasn't the only one who thought it was the most backward idea he ever had.

A suggestion:

Since none of these "stories" are really separate stories, but just chapters, why don't you combine them all into one story, in the multiple crossings section?
Comments from author:
I considered it but it just caused a different set of problem because these were written and intended as a series of ficlet rather than a long story (even if right now it's over 200KB long). Reading it as a single story would be confusing because I took a different approach at writing each part... and that's not taking into account references to some non-crossover fics which I would still have no way of fitting in.

Thanks for the idea though, I really appreciate it.

Okay, so now I've read all 10. There were some really funny bits sprinkled throughout. (I especially liked the "what is a carpenter doing here?" bit, although I forget which chapter that was). I also continue to like the idea of Giles as Blair's dad. (He's no MacGyver, but he'll do :-) ) You write Buffy's reactions well, and your characterization of Jim and Giles is apt. Blair I find a little less believable, though not much. I suppose my main problem with the series is that each story is essentially little more than a drabble, so the whole thing isn't as satisfying as it could be. I almost feel like instead of having read a good, solid story, I've been treated to an overview or an outline of what a good story MIGHT look like. More frustrating still is that you use only dialogue in some parts where I'm dying for description and only description (and inner monologue) when I'd love to see some dialogue (e.g. when everyone is being introduced to each other). Finally, part 10 doesn't feel like a continuation of Parts 1-9 at all, and while I agree that someone should have said something to Giles, it feels a bit odd to have Blair do so here.

Overall, I'm still enjoying this series very much, and I hope you'll continue.
