Well, those are some screwy pairings, and I can't wait to see how things turn out. I dare not even speculate about which team will win, nor how much damage certain characters may inflict on their teammate. Looks to be fun! Since you said that you already have the stories written, I am not going to bother offering suggestions of where/what they are required to go and do. Knowing you and your muse, it will be well worth reading about.

Give you have 5 teams and 31 days in August, that means each team has at least 6 quests if you report on each team equally.
Did you roll dice or other chance selection to determine if each team succeeded in their quest in a certain dimension?
Same question for whether you had them continue on with the quest or skip it?
How did you determine how much time each team spends on a particular quest- pass or fail? 24 magical hours gives an average of 4 hours per quest if they each have an average of 6 quests.
Is one of the quests to get Batman to voluntarily hand over his cowl? Or Superman his cape? or Wonder Woman her tiara? Andrew would go utterly geek crazy for those goals. Xander would hide it better. They'd both go green with envy if it was Buffy who even got to try.
i agree you should definately do a supernatural cross over. my recomendation for the task is getting an angel feather, Dean's amulet or a lock of Sammy's hair.
another cross over idea could be stargate and the task could be stealing a zat, one of Daniels books or Jack's fishing pole
my third idea is a leverage cross. the task could be getting the entire team in dresses, stealing hardison's mini emp cannon or figuring out Sophie's real name.
my last idea is Harry Potter cross over. the task could be stealing Snape's wand, borrowing Harry's firebolt or getting Luna's butterbeer necklace
