Review of chapter "Chapter One" from BlazeVein
Review:
Great short story. I am a fan of Arlene/Jack all along the ride , and I love to see those 2 together, and oh why not a sibling for Evy to worry about? heh ;P
Comments from author:
Thank you. This might not have been the best way to get a relationship started again. Only one? How conservative...
;-)

Review:
Great story.

I would have been easy to have Jack go in and clear things up, but it would have felt wrong. They need more time before they can talk about this.
Comments from author:
Yes, Jack needs time and so does Arlene. We shall see where it ends.

Review:
Rather revealing of emotions! I enjoyed reading it, learning more about Arlene.
Comments from author:
This sort of encounter is bound to be revealing. The way such things get downplayed in the series and other series always seemed unrealistic to me. Glad you liked it, thanks for reviewing

Review:
Excellent story. Interested in seeing the back story as to how Kowalski survived, as in SG1 canon, he dies after being taken as a Goa'uld host right after the pilot episode, Children of the Gods (he died in the next episode after in canon, which is the official first episode).
Comments from author:
IT is really quite difficult to write how people react to his survival sicne they do not know he should have died. ;-) The Enemy within showed a great deal, but too little of the impact for my taste.

Dang. If you wanted to be really evil, you could have Arlene get pregnant out if this.

Review:
Seeing Kowalski in there threw me a little, but when I went back to "Children of a Greater God", I'm guessing Carol's air support kept the Jaffa far enough from the gate, the primta didn't infect him?

I know the whole command decision to make her 2IC during the Touched outbreak might look like favoritism, but they didn't really have time to look for anyone higher ranking who might also be immune. Hammond knew he was most likely infected, didn't know how much time he would have to prep someone to take over, and had two people who were apparently unaffected right in front of him.

Having solo quarters? Yeah, it sounds great...until you find out it's not safe for her to leave base. I imagine it'll also make it a bit difficult for whoever Adam contacts about teaching her.

Edit: Now that I think about it, though, Sr. Airman was about when they started encouraging to move out of the single airman housing, either off base or applying for base housing to make room for newer airmen.
Comments from author:
It's rather difficult to write a negative, but yes, that is what happened. He survived and will for a while yet.

Exactly Hammond's reasoning. Most others will realize this once their reational minds take over. YEs, Carol has definite downsides to her life...

Carol was looking for a place to live when the Marigold people tried to kidnap her.

Review:
I really like this story. Love the reactions of the various characters. I can see the general as being a protective and loving father. I do hope there is more soon. It be fun to see Carol matched with someone from the highlander universe. Richie strikes me as a really good choice. I would love for him to be saved. The other option would be pretender and maybe pair her with Ethan. Anyway lovely update as always.

Comments from author:
Thank you. I rather like Hammond, it probably shows. I'm not quie certain yet with whom I 'll match Carol, these things tend to grow in my mind. I wasn't actually planning to have Jack and Arlene do the nasty. That just happened.

But Ethan? I think not...

Review:
Great chapter. More than I had been hoping for in the drama of dealing with events of the infection. Some serious 'healing' chapters ahead that is for sure and it looks as if Carter is off Jack's radar now in ways that was so fun and so hard to watch on the show. I hope you can find a better match for Sam than the piss poor efforts the show made. Girl needs a special guy or hey even gal in her life. I vote some alien..but thinking about it having her fall for some guy heavy in the world of magic would be funny as hell to watch them argue over magic and science. His family shocked at him falling for a Muggle or something.

The stern talking to for Evy was a great touch. Now I look forward to seeing who you have at her school to become friends with.

And lastly poor, poor Carol. I really feel for this women and think this tale will be a blast to read outside of Evy and her mom's tale seeing how her life shapes up.

Comments from author:
Thank you. I always felt that after this sort of episode is not given nearly enough attention to the results of the things that happen. THe Naked Now deals with it by Picard's statement 'it did not happen'.

I have notions about Sam's love life I hope you will like.

Carol will receive attention, never you fear.

Arlene was stripping of her blouse

**off**

Interesting. I was thinking of this story as boring but necessary background for the main plotline. Reading the other reviews I find there was a lot I missed. When did we find out that Airman C is an immortal ?
Comments from author:
Sigh... the off monster. I hate that word...

Carol's immortality is revealed in Children of a Greater god. She wakes up in a charnel pit and Adam Pierson/Methos senses her when Marigold try to grab her and thinks about getting her a mentor.

Review:
Aw. This was... kinda sad while encouraging. It's good to see Arlene and Evy are dealing, with lots of help from family. And Jack will have his with Jon. But Carol was really sad. Hopefully she'll realize that some people, like Arlene, Jack, Sam, Daniel and Janet are willing to be her friends despite what problems she imagines or are real.
Comments from author:
I was hoping to get that reaction, so I'm rather glad. Evy still needs a lot of help and Arlene needs to deal with her guilt. Carol's life hopefully will get better from here on out.

Review:
Poor Sam. There's almost no way for her & Jack to work out (unless she decides later on that mini-Jack is ok< heh > )
Carol W. meanwhile has no idea how lonely her life might get, as the years go by. On the other hand, the Council (of people who follow immortals around) doesn't know about her, that's a plus. Can you imagine if they did find out, assigned a watcher, he follows her, and gets arrested by security, thinking it's somebody trying to find out about the stargate project?
The amusing thing is, she could be a huge asset to the SGC, and they don't have a clue. Though I suppose with the way things happen there, it's only a matter of time before she inexplicably recovers from something fatal.
Comments from author:
The Sam-Jack romance is fraught with trouble. The problem is that neither wants to quit the Air Force and that rather limits their options, to put it mildly.

It would be rather fun to write Carol's Watcher's trials and tribulations... Carol is going to be lonely, but then there are other Immortals out there. Find out? Lethal consequneces? In the SGC? ;-)

Looks like another good addition.

So, will Evy get a sibling of her own out of this? It might actually help to have someone she can look after.

BTW, to ChaosLady: This was the Stargate episode "The Broca Divide".
Comments from author:
Thank you. A sibling? Won't that stir things up...

WOW! Amazing kick off to a new part of the series. Only down point is poor Evy got the short end of the stick. Girl just can't seem to cut a break. Looks like Jack got lucky and I wonder how that will sit with the pair once they are cured. Somehow I see Evy getting a grand tour of the base to make up for this day.

Comments from author:
Evy is life's butt monkey. ;-) /:-(. Next chapter will deal with partial fall out, but the rest will be pciekd up in LS. I can see 'Uncle George' doting on the girl...
