It'll take quite a while to clean up this mess once it's over. A lot of super heroes would never work with the government again, probably. Meanwhile, quite a fight is shaping up. Osborn isn't totally stupid--lured into going after Asgard, but he is rounding up lots of extra muscle. good thing he didn't get Graviton.
Comments from author:
The Count, Graviton, and Sentry on the same side?
Wouldn't want to be the other side of that fight!
As we've discussed, the super hero community is going to be a lot more organised and reactive in the future. And in the sequel 'the Oblivion Wave'.
Thanks for the review.

Great chapter! I liked the scene with Angel & Bethany. Nice to see Angel's past good works actually helping him in the present. This is building up to quite a group. Any chance of Groo being in the mix, too?
Comments from author:
Groo's there as a member of Angel Investigations.
Thanks for the review.

So Gwen is a mutant? Not a surprise. Illyria could probably be quite useful, too. Sounds like Fury is doing the smart thing, rounding up every available recruit for a decisive strike. Osborne's days are numbered and all that stuff. Poor Rulk is not going to be collecting any benefits for his time in the army, poor guy.
Comments from author:
If I'm amalgmating the Marvel verse with the Angelverse, it's the only explanation. Same with that telekenetic Angel met, Bethany. In the Marvelverse, Illyria's small beans, certainly not up to even a Luke Cage's standards.
Yep, Fury is going to be visiting a lot of people over the next few chapters.
Gonna be total war soon.
Thanks for the review.

If nothing else, I'm looking forward to seeing what the X-Men and Angel Investigations make of each other when they meet (BTW, is this set before or after Jubilee became a vampire?)...
in hindsight, asking for Osborne to come in so he could be fired in person may not have been the best move on the president's part. Heh. Future presidents are going to have to add some super powered types to the Secret Service detail. At this point, things are going to start to get ugly.... er.
Comments from author:
Yep, in a verse where metas are striding freely around and in such number, you'd think someone would have the forethought to pull a few low-level types into the Secret Service.
Obviously not stinking muties, but still. :D
Thanks for the review.

It’s straightforward enough to incorporate the Slayers into the Marvel Universe- have them operating as ‘low-key’ anti-supernatural agents, similar to how Blade tends to do his thing on a street level without too much attention from the more public heroes-, but your new take on the Dark Reign is certainly effective (Although I object to the idea of Xander being that comfortable regarding Osborn as Spider-Man’s arch-enemy; with Peter’s identity secret, nobody outside of Peter and Osborn should KNOW what Osborn’s done to Peter’s life, so from an outside perspective wouldn’t Venom or Doctor Octopus be the more likely candidate?), ranging from how the other heroes react to his actions to Faith being forced on the run.
Nice touch with Willow being one of the candidates for the new Sorcerer Supreme- even if she didn’t get it in the end-, and Faith and Xander’s ‘recruitment’ by Fury as non-metagene-operatives certainly worked, even if I wish you’d elaborated more on how Willow managed to restore Stark considering that it took a science and magic collaboration to save him in canon.
Still, should be interesting to see what happens when Faith starts taking on a public speaking role for the anti-Osborn movement; keep up the great work!
Comments from author:
I see Slayers in much the same way as yourself, low-level supernatural agents on a par with a Blade.
I used Willow as a Sorcerer Supreme candidate purely to get more of the Slayerverse than just Xander and Faith interacting with the Marvel verse. More on that later, lol.
As for Faith's speaking role, this is where I stop making minor changes to Dark Reign and veer off in a few completely different directions.
Thanks for the review.

I'm betting that was a Strucker clone or LMD...he's not that easy to off. But it doesn't bode well for the Osborn/Evil alliance if they're now killing each other off. Maybe he should have sent Osborn a memo instead of visiting personally. Once the heroes win out, the aftermath is going to be tough. The public is not going to realize it at first, but they've lost the trust of the superhero community. Relations are going to be very strained.
Comments from author:
Nah, it's the real one. Sentry is that formidable.
But you're right, things are crumbling around Osborn.
Thanks for the review.

Wow, Faith did amazingly well against Venom, considering the power differential. Took him by surprise, probably. Meanwhile is the Canadian gov. accusing Osborn of violating their sovereignty & kidnapping Stark?
Comments from author:
I look at Venom as being probably slightly less powerful and durable than the Beast, and Faith managed to ever so briefly hang with him.
Heh, it would be handy if Stark's disappearance was blamed on Osborn.

So, the media is finally waking up to what's going on. Too little, too late. Human / superhuman relations have been set back years, and will take a long long time to recover after this affair. The weirdest thing is, it was an actual Marvel plot line. I liked that Faith not having enhanced DNA worked to her advantage in the previous chapter.
Comments from author:
I blame too much cocaine in the Marvel writers' room, a lot of the stuff, Utopia, Dark Reign, the Search for the Sorcerer Supreme, and the upcoming Siege all actually happened.
Thanks for the review.
