Not being a viewer of the series I have absolutely no idea who died. Mostly this story left me rather confused.

My apologies. I'm afraid if you haven't watched Sherlock, you're better off skipping this one, as it does require knowledge of the series through The Reichenbach Fall. I'll add an Author Note to clarify, since even if you try to categorize a story under Television->Sherlock, it still ends up under Literature->Sherlock Holmes. (I'd forgotten about that.)
