Review of chapter "By The Work Of His Hands (Post IM3)" from Failisse
Review:
Wonderfully crafted! I love how time skips in this story. It's almost like each chapter is it' own vignette. I really enjoyed the way the Buffy's and Tony's friendship grew almost reluctantly at first into the strong bond it was at the end. I also really enjoyed the way Tony was flabbergasted by the concept of magic and how later on he learned he was creating it in it's own way. The only real complaint I have is that it felt like Clint's and Buffy's relationship was dropped at the end. Not dropped as in it ended, but rather that it was left unfulfilled. I mean, they got together, he goes patrolling with her and helps her to train Pepper, but after that there was no word on where they left off. I know this fic's focus isn't romance, but rather the relationships between Buffy and the Avengers, but it would have been nice to see where everything was at between Buffy and Clint at the end. That said, it was beautifully written fic and I really enjoyed it. So thank you. :)

(Shhh ... this probably isn't the actual end. I was kind of hoping to see more of Clint in the Marvel Movieverse before continuing it, though ....)

Great story! Interesting way you've combined magic and tech. Stark as an enchanter? Certainly explains the inertial dampening effects of brushing off a hit from a tank round.

Good story and well written. It did rely on reader's knowledge of the comics (which I don't have) but you still made it almost entirely understandable (except for things like the genesis of "Extremis", how Tony obtained it, and a few other odd bits that would have proven enlightening to novice non-Movie Ironman readers).

However, even with the lack of some information it was still a fun read.

I liked your Buffy-isms and snarks...they seemed to be more mature and subtle versions than those observed in canon and typical fanfic. The dialogues meshed very nicely with Buffy's current gestalt in your story.
Comments from author:
Which comics would those be? I've never read Marvel-verse comics, and I generally ignore virtually everything about the post-series Buffyverse comics and make up my own post-show headcanon. :) You're probably right about the Extremis, though; I guess I just assumed anybody seeing the "Now with IM3 tags" would have therefore seen Iron Man 3 before reading them.

Glad you liked the story in general, even if you didn't fully get all the references; I appreciate your review!

I love the world-building that you're doing here, with Tony as an accidental enchanter, who manages to get "technology" that doesn't quite exist yet/shouldn't actually work to work. Even though Buffy and Willow aren't actually saying it, they have encountered this type of enchanter before, in Sunnydale: this is how (or so it seems to me) that Warren got his impossible sci-fi inventions to work, and how Maggie Walsh was able to animate her creation, Adam, which really should not have worked. The fact that they were both on the Hellmouth at the time, where the laws of physics are more like strongly worded suggestions, probably made it that much easier.

Great chapter! Loved how it cleared up a few things from his verse. No to see how JARVIS and Tony take finding out that JARVIS might as well be his son! well and Pepper! lol

Good as always. Well it would explain a lot of things that Tony did and to me it doesn't sound strange. I never understood why he didn't think more off it. Well sometimes you don't want to know things because than you have to think about and handle it. Handling things when you aren't ready or can't talk about it to someone you thrust can give a burden . So Buffy telling him was a good job because he was ready.

Now Jarvis. I hope you will show a bit about his reaction and Tony's when he discovers that Jarvis is in fact his child.

I really love the interactions between Buffy and Tony.
