Review of chapter "Blameless in His Generation" from lunalurker
Review:
Ah, Faith, don't ever change. I luv you so. And will always regret that spinoff show centered around her didn't happen. A very fun story indeed, as well as some thoughtful reasonings on certain plot holes and oddness in the original material, which I always seem to enjoy. There was some swerving away from the dark scaryness and over the line toward silliness toward the end, but since that is a trademark of both the Potterverse and the Buffyverse, it's far more appropriate than jarring. Thanks very much for writing, my reading habit appreciates it greatly. ;)

A 'Faith the Vamp Slayer' show would have been awesome.
And yes, I simply can't leave massive plot holes alone. I either make fun of them or patch them, depending on the story.
Thanks for the reviews. If you really enjoyed the story, I wouldn't mind a rec either. :-)

“Accio fist!” Oh, giggled over that. And not for the first time. Very fun read and a nicely smooth blending of worlds. :)
Comments from author:
Well, Snape got off a lot easier this time.
Would there be any Snape or Draco fangirls if much less attractive actors had been used?

A compelling, funny and exciting story, with the right amount of drama without falling into overly dramatic convulted territory. I loved seeing the slayers and scoobies kick wizard butt at the final fight, and the way Percy and Snape were acting. And Ginny was perfect, especially the way she handled Harry's attempt to break up with her for her own good.

Thanks! I appreciate the review. (I wouldn't mind a recommendation either!)

Review:
I really love this chapter, especially the abolition of the House system at Hogwarts
"There are no more houses…no house points or house rivalries or house Quidditch teams. Classes will not be segregated by houses either."
This just seems like EXACTLY what Snape would do. Even if he's only Headmaster for a year or two, he will create at least one grade that has no sense of the senseless rivalries that (for him) made Hogwarts such a cruel place. Even though Snape's by no definition a "nice" person, he almost certainly considers this the "right" thing to do. Good for him.
Comments from author:
The house system at Hogwarts seems designed to cause trouble. Of course, it's necessary for meta-reasons, but it did seem like all it did was make certain blocks of students hate other blocks of students.

Like all of Diane's work this is really fun to read. I started it some time ago then went away and waited for it to be finished. Reading the parts I'd already read again were like coming back to a favorite easy chair or a favorite pair of shoes. Then the finish is great but I'm sorry it's over. Thanks Diane, Chris in CA Whately fan too.
PS: anyone who hasn't read her Whately Universe work is missing a real treat!!!

Thanks and thanks. I appreciate the compliments, and I appreciate your reading my stuff!

I put off reading the last couple of chapters of this story for a few weeks just because I didn't want it to end :) Sadly all good things come to an end and I finally got around to reviewing this one. Great story. I don't know if you planned it all out before you wrote it but the plot filled the whole story flowing from one scene to the next and coming to a satisfying conclusion at the end where Tom Riddle got his due reward - a final death. I found the Harry Potter characters very convincing and their reactions realistic considering the world they lived in. I liked how they put to use what information they could find about slayers and what they could do. And the little hints throughout the story about the scooby gang paid off at the end when they came storming in to save the day. I did feel the first couple of chapters with the scoobies showed them to be a bit blase with the whole wizarding world and the threat that Voldmort posed. But the scoobies soon learned that their were more useful spells to be learned from their new friends even as they easily handled the "Death Suckers" and other minions of the most feared "Dark Lord" in the last generation or two. I just hope that Faith isn't the only slayer assigned to Hogwartz to help Ginny train or a whole generation of school children may be forever scarred in all new ways. This time their scars consisting entirely of things they wish they did not know!
Comments from author:
Yes, I plotted the entire thing out in a lot of detail before I started writing the first full chapters. However, things still changed; for instance, Willow did some sort of spell and got my muse to control what I was typing about the battle, so it turned out more dea ex machina than I wanted. (Okay, the Battle of Hogwarts was pretty deus ex machina'ed in canon too, just with a lot more death.) And if Faith really is the Slayer on duty at Hogwarts, I think Minerva will have a nervous breakdown. :-)
Thanks for reading and making so many helpful comments.

This was quite an enjoyable, well-paced story that poked a lot of holes in Rowling's storytelling. Overall I quite liked it. I did find Buffy and Co to be a bit of a superpowered deus ex machina when they showed up -- especially Willow -- but you wrote the characters from that world well and gave us lots of funny moments with even the minor players. Still, worth the time investment. A good read.
Comments from author:
Yeah, as my muse made me crank the story out, I just couldn't stop the Buffyverse from taking over. And if you've read Season 8, you know that what they did is *nothing* compared to canon.

Review:
“Are you sure we can’t have a different Slayer to train Miss Weasley?” Too funny, because Faith's going to shock the robes off the wizarding community. And the poor monsters of the Forbidden Forest.
I enjoyed Ginny's gradual development as a Slayer, particularly the dreams helping develop her fighting ability. I've gone debated this with others, and find it reasonable (and less over-the top than "a Slayer is an instant master of any weapon she handles") even though I don't think it's canon.
I was curious how you were going to integrate the Sunnydale crew into the story, and was pleased how seamless it was (even if it was Willow ex machina). Funny BtVS/HP dialogue, especially Buffy. Good written description of the final battle and vanquishing of Moldyshorts. Go Team Slayer!
Comments from author:
Thanks. In retrospect, I'm not satisfied with the 'dea ex Willow' issues either, but all along I was subtly setting up the 'earth magic vs wand magic' issue (like with the goblins), and then Willow asserted herself ruthlessly, taking over my hands and making my muse beat me with a half-brick in a sock until the battle was over. It's all my muse's fault, really. On the other hand, I'm seldom really satisfied with my work afterward, but there comes a point where you have to stop fiddling with edits.
Yeah, Rowling failed with the sword retrieval scene. I realize it made the whole thing more fraught with danger, but they have all those spells! One of many reasons I didn't like DH.
Comments from author:
JKR may not fully visualize the entire scene as she writes. Go back and look at the 'rescue of Sirius Black' scene in book 3, then look at how they had to fix it in the movie.

I really liked how you had them disassemble the house. That was cool.
Comments from author:
It should be safer to take the house apart than hunt vampires from room to room.

Fantastic story... the only bad thing about me waiting for it to be completed is that I didn't leave more reviews. Sorry about that :(
I'll definitely have to look into your other stories, even though my main focus is on Buffy x SG1 crossovers. You write way too well to ignore your other fandoms.
Comments from author:
Thanks, and thanks. If you feel like adding a Rec, I'd appreciate it. :-) And if you like the crossovers, you might like some of my work in the Whateley Universe, which I co-own.
