Review of chapter "Chapter seven." from WhippingDawn
Review:
YOU BASTARD! YOU KILLED FAITHY!
Damn I have to stop watching South Park... But that's a very cruel ending. I hope you're going to use this in the next story, not just have it as a mean ending just because you like to tear new holes into Faith. Beautiful story anyway, based on a masterpiece.
So W&H has entered the field now. I hope Faith juliennes them!
Comments from author:
To be honest I don't remember what happened next. But I'm sure it wasn't just a mean ending.
Doctor Strangelove turned up in another story I wrote as Doctor Strangewomble!
Yep W&H are in it for a while.
Cheers, D.

Minor nitpick: The USAF does not have the ranks private, corporal and sergeant sind 1952. The enlisted ranks are airman basic, airman, airman first class, senior airman, staff sergeant, technical sergeant, master sergeant, senior master sergeant, chief master sergeant.
Comments from author:
To be honest apart from officers and one Sergeant I don't remember mentioning any enlisted ranks, but as you've obviously read the fic more recently than I have you're probably right.
It is odd because as an ex-serviceman I try to get character's ranks right.
If Faith is dead, then this series is over, which I refuse to accept. Therefore Faith is alive, QED. The real question is : if Faith is alive, then what are you planning for the next installment ? (the six million dollar Slayer - we can make her better ?)
Comments from author:
Actually that's not a bad idea...The Six Million Dollar Slayer...although I thing the price tag would heve gone up what with inflation an'all!
No Faith will be back (after a couple of prequels), after coming out of hospital the Army will send her somewhere for a little rest...you just know that not going to work out!
Cheers, D.

Acht, a cliffhanger ending for the mid-season?. Acht dude, you're evil :P xD!!. Well at least Mandrake had his moment to shine, and saved the world by guessing the correct recall codes. So Wolfram & Hart had their hands in this mess??. I hope you have something special for payback against the dog, the goat and the venison, they're really need to learn a few lessons. See ya!!!.
Comments from author:
Oh I think Wolfram and Hart will be popping into this story every now and again.
Yep, mid season cliffhanger...gives me space to put in those prequels to finish up Faith's back story.
Cheers, D.

Dave I really like this series. It along with the other Buffy and Cordelia in the military stories that some other authors here at TTH have written are among my favorite stories to read.
I just caught up with this story and although it is finished I thought I should bring your attention a couple of errors. First it is my understanding that the B-52 is scheduled to stay in service until 2045. The other is that SAC (Strategic Air Command) has not existed since 1992. At the time this story takes place, July 2008, all B-52's were under the control of ACC (Air Combat Command).
Still another good story. As for weather or not I think Faith is dead I would say no, or not permanently. Also, she was shot in the chest, no mention was made of her taking off her body-armor and I can't see someone of Faith's experience level forgetting to wear her ballistics plate. Most likely, I would say she is WIA.
Comments from author:
The thing about SAC was mentioned in an earlier review, and it is my bad. I meant to research it but for some reason I never got round to it.
Now as we have a reality where Faith joined the army (which obviously isn't what actually happened) I'm claiming an Alternate Universe were SAC was still going and the B52 was being phased out of service...that's by excuse and I'm sticking to it!
Normally I check stuff out but this time I didn't, as I say my bad.
Body Armour, nope Faith never took it off or even opened it, in fact I think I mention the medic having to open it to get at her wound...WIA.
Yep, that was brutal. I think Faith should think about using some special ammo: iron and silver bullets, salt rock shells for a shotgun, ya know, the works. And boy, poor Mandrake is really having a really bad, very lousy day. Cool chapter, see ya!!.
Comments from author:
I'm told that most modern shotgun shot is made from steel.
Well here's the end.
