Not bad. I had to do some digging for this - _Master of Hawks_ by Linda Bushyager (followed by _The Spellstone of Shaltus_).

Well, actually, I've never heard of that story (or series) before this, that I can recall.
The locale where Buffy, Faith and Xander have ended up is a world I developed years ago for a FRP game setting. The world is actually a compilation of several FRP adventure modules from different game producers, and some people will probably recognize at least some of the players who the three of them are going to be meeting over the course of the next several chapters.
