You can't deny it'd be fun afterwards. Xander would be the new underground boss. And he'd make good connections. He'd probably be able to take care of problems before they happen. Like using his sources to find out about the mayor and take care of him before his ascension. He'd also get Faith to work for him.
Also, would you interested in an idea I had for a turned Buffy, Xander, Willow? It's interesting.

Oh, I never said it wouldn't be fun. ;-)
I just said that Sunnydale is not the kind of town taht you'd want someone like Tony living in, for many of the same reasons you pointed out. ;-)

That's the problem with some people. They can't think outside the box. For example, Harry Potter could have used something like that with Moldyshorts. Nice story and Xander gets to keep his favorite left eye.
Comments from author:
Yeah, that was definitely one of the benefits of handling things this way, as opposed to Joss' idea. ;-)

As far as I'm concerned, that's what Xander (with his memories of being a soldier) and the rest of the group should have gone with in the first place, considering the Army base was likely easy pickings by that time. *sigh* But, alas, it wasn't in the script. Thank you for fixing that error!
Lastly, I'm glad Xander pulled a good old M-1911 instead of one of those thrice damned M-9s. I'd take my trusty old warhorse over that peashooter any day and I was not a happy camper when the Army took them away and issued Berretta 9 mils instead, I don't care if that IS the standard NATO round for side arms.... /rant

Exactly!!! But Joss needed to show that magic is superior to everything else, so we ended up with the idiocies of Season Four and later. ;-(
A lot closer to what should have happened in canon, well done.

Indeed. I really doubt that Caleb was anywhere near as tough as the Judge was, and we all saw what happened to him.
Joss conclusively disproved any effort to make current technology unusable against demons with that episode, despite what he might have said later, or intended.
