Review:
This was a pretty good story. You melded the two worlds together well, although I didn't feel that Sam was adequately young-sounding in places. Setting this around the Gem of Amarra was a good choice.

If I have a criticism it's that I needed more fallout of the Winchesters leaving before we saw Buffy's death and the consequences thereof.

I also liked how you brought Dawn in at the end and retconned much the same way the show did.

Looking forward to the next one.
Comments from author:
Thanks for the review! In my head!canon, Sam is extremely book smart and savvy for a 16-yr-old. He wouldn't hesitate to use a word like "corporeal". :P But, yes, I didn't necessarily shift the voice of the narrative when I shifted POV, at least not consistently, which is something I would like to work on.

My original intent was to write just this episode, ending it where the show does, but my brain didn't want to obey. Hence the last two chapters and the upcoming sequel. However, I will say that I like to stick to canon as much as possible - until I don't. For Buffy, the season continues, except you replace Parker with Dean (because Buffy spending three episodes - THREE! - pining over a one-night-stand with Parker did not make sense to me). For the Winchesters, it's something that's touched upon in the last chapter with Sam and might be explored in Casualty for Dean.

Review of chapter "Chapter Twenty-Nine: Dean" from bradsan
Review:
You know John is a cruel bastard. Their life's aren't much different as Buffy's. Only he chooses it, he forced his sons into this life so just like Buffy they didn't had a choice and he is telling Buffy about her short life spam. Shame on him his wife died young but the time they had together was good. He didn't know she would live this short but that's something nobody knows on forehand. There jobs as hunter made the choice for a short life spam on forehand and everybody deserves some happiness because of that. If he had known his wife would dye this young would he have leave her or enjoyed the short time. John is a bastard. He has no right to make the choice for his son(s).

Dean needs to learn that the world isn't black and white. Would he kill Oz because he is a werewolf, Or Clem if he ever meets him. Supernatural isn't equal to evil just like human and having a soul doesn't mean you're a good human. He also needs to learn his dad isn't his general who can order him around. As long as he still listened to his dad and can't have a life on his own, he isn't worth crying for. When will he grow up. Buffy wanted to talk and he wouldn't let her explain by just ignoring the phone calls. How immature. I never understood why he always did what his dad told him to do. I never understood John how he could do this to his children. Don't get me wrong they love each other but the way they are acting around each other and the way John treated his children. Is wrong very wrong. Children are born to be raised to adulthood and you have to set them free so they can have a life of there own.

So this is my rant. Thank god Buffy is a strong woman who will learn to live through this but was it another Slayer he would sentence her dead. Dead wish as nothing to live for or I'm done and tired etc.

Good story can't wait for the next update.

I love your rant. It makes me feel like I've done my job as a writer when I get these emotional responses to my story!

So thank you!

Review:
well, that sucks, but it's also very, very Dean. He's obedient boy. He's black and white boy. He's gonna have a very hard time breaking free of the easy answers that his father has been feeding him... or breaking free from his father at all.

What really, really scares me is the head space Buffy must end up in after that conversation with John. that place where she 'knows' she never 'deserves' to let herself love or be loved... that place where her short life stretches out in front of her empty... and with really nothing left worth fighting for. Because what goes for lovers, goes for friends too... letting people in means hurting them when she dies... so she's apt to withdraw... and then why bother fighting? Why keep going at all? She's done her duty, she's all alone in the dark, why bother?

This is really, painfully good.

Comments from author:
I had originally planned on having another chapter of Buffy after Dean walks out, but I couldn't get the words right. It felt too exposed to voice something so painful and deep.

And thanks for the compliment. You make me blush.

Review of chapter "Chapter Twenty-Eight: Buffy" from (Recent Donor)DeepBlueJoy
Review:
Whoaa... that's a truly shattering chapter. John hit Buffy right where it really hurts... her life is short, brutal and dangerous to everyone around her and she's terrified that she can't ever have love precisely because of it... she's all heart and doesn't want to break Dean. I think Dean should get a say in the matter, however. Just maybe he'd rather have Buffy in his life for a few years than no Buffy at all. Some things are so precious, that even if we know we're gonna lose them, they're worth having.

Very well done!

Blue.
Comments from author:
Wow, thanks! It means a lot coming from you.

Just because John's right, it doesn't make him any less of a manipulative bastard. Hopefully, Dean will see through his father's machinations and choose his own path. But you've seen the series. It's a very slim possibility.

gulp! John's gonna be a dead man if he kills Giles & Buffy finds out it was him.
Comments from author:
I don't think their relationship could handle that! Of course, John is sort of the type to shoot first and ask questions later...

"Agent Denny Duquette" - very clever. Love this story so far. It's great that you switch the POVs while still keeping the whole story in third person. I hope you update soon.
Comments from author:
Hehe, how could I not? I loved Denny and Izzy. Maybe John disappears so much because he's getting treatments at Seattle Grace. :P

Thanks for the review! I'm glad you're enjoying the story.
