This is a good story so far. More please?
Comments from author:
I'm working on it. Buffy's costume reveal is more work than I thought it would be. Chapter should be up in the next week or two depending on how cooperative my muse is. Thanks for the review.

What!?!?!? Green and Yellow don't go together? BLASPHEMY! I call upon the spirits of the Almighty Green Bay Packers to strike thee down!

Any minute now.

Maybe tomorrow.

Ok, moving on from that. I'm not sure if you could pick a more obscure character for Xander. Except, perhaps, Buffy. Unless she's crossing with SG-1, I don't have a clue.

Anyway, keep up the good, if blasphemous, work.
Comments from author:
Lol, uh, I'm just going to say that sports teams, like comic book superheroes, can do what they want. And I do not share any fashion opinions with Buffy.

As for Xander, my college friends said 'Hideo Kojima' and my response was to mourn Boktai came out in 2003. I was going to try to wing it anyways but, Otenko would just be one too many unseen things for the Scoobies to be having conversations with. When I realized that issue Xander's costume was the easiest one I could/was willing to change.

Of course I could have done Snake or Raiden but aside from characters names I know nothing about the metal Gear series. At least I played Snatchers.

Actually, Buffy's costume choice isn't that obscure and in fact, is growing in popularity the past couple of years. My clues, unfortunately, are all rather obscure because I had to wing Buffy's costume to fit the Buffyverse and explain away anachronic issues (another reason why Xander got the obscure character outfit).

Interesting beginning. I look forward to reading more of your story. I Buffy going to be a Gaould? Not sure of the spelling for one of the Snake Aliens from Star Gate.
Comments from author:
Good guess but no. Honestly, I'm not sure anyone but fans will guess Buffy's costume. The references are all to the outfit's origin story which I imagine not many people know.

As for snakes from SG1 I think the correct spelling is Go'uld. Buuuut, i'm not an avid SG1 fan so what do i know.

For Buffy you could say she was Eve from the Mummy Movies, before she died and got reincarnated.
Comments from author:
I have a costume in mind for Buffy, actually and sadly is not Eve from the Mummy Movie series. It's just actually taking me a while to get to her costume reveal and I admit unless your a fan you might not get the clues. But I have, in my opinion, a hilarious scene worth it all. Though whether it'll be part of the story or just an 'omake' remains to be seen.

Thanks for the review and suggestion anyways!

Like you, I could have sworn I left a second review to this.

This was such a teasing chapter though. Did love the "Willow you are phsychic!" line.
Comments from author:
Lol, we are absentminded reviewers.

I actually wanted to do costume hints and reveal in one go but I was kind of running late for work as it was when I finished posting what I managed to write.

Glad you liked the dialogue.

Review of chapter "The Rule" from cloudleonsgurl
Interesting. My school was sorta like that, except they let sword or axe (even some costumes that were not deemed school approriate), but guns? No way. It was really weird.

I can't see where you take this.

Edit: Well, let's see people who don't necissariliy use weapons (or at least ones not visible).

Batman would be a good one, since he does keep any weapons hidden on him in his belt. Can't fault someone wearing a belt. The X-men would be good, since there powers aren't necissarily a weapon, but a part of them. That could go for superman too. You have a lot option out there, lol. :D

Okay...I'll share story, it's pretty messed about my school and dress up day. We student had to behave, no fights and our teachers...well, guess to keep the students from acting out, acted out for them. One year the pricipal ziplined down from the ceiling dressed as batman. And let me tell you that is the NORMAL don't want to know about the me.
Comments from author:
My schools didn't allow any weapons because the teachers didn't want 'light saber' fights breaking out. :-/ I just know my class missed out on something EPIC.

Don't know where I'm going either, really. I'm totally winging this thing. It's nice to do that once in a while.

Reply: ... I want to go to your school. It sounds like fun. The admin half of my school didn't really seem to care about the students. Except my one elem school principal. He did crazy awesome stuff only people age twelve and under would find awesome.

That said, friends from college already picked Xander's outfit. The only hint I'm giving about it is Hideo Kogima. I'm thinking one of the girls will be an X-man but I'm not sure which girl or character.

He would do that.

I'm thinking they'd try to dress as X-Men to make a point (that would fly right over his head and that the students would get) that he's picking on them over things they have no control over and trying to create trouble to punish them for--something that is done to Marvel Comics mutants with depressing regularity during that time period.
Comments from author:
Sorry for the delay in responding but I agree with you about the Xmen and they would make a good costume idea. So one of the Scoobies will be dressing as a xmen character. I'm aiming for multicross however so all I'm really doing at the moment is debating between a few options yet. Planning to post my choices on halloween, so keep an eye out.

Costume Ideas:

You might have to update the Buffyverse to the present day or retcon stuff into the Buffyverse but I'm perfectly willing to accept either option if the story is good.

Good Luck.
Comments from author:
Hi there oxnate! Long time no chat. ^_^ Thanks for the links, they're giving me wonderful/horrible ideas.

You know, I tend to be a stickler about... anachronic use of anything. It's a pet peeve I think we share. So rest easy knowing if I choose outfits from the 'future' I'll work out the time issues. I have to admit the idea of a present day Buffy is very tempting. Especially considering the point another reviewer for this fic had.

Some RL friends already narrowed down my choices for Xander though they kind of ignored my 'no weapons' rule. The jerks, but hey, it's for the lulz so I'll run with it. Thanks for the review and best wishes.

"Nothing Remotely Resembling a Weapon" is not in the insane force in the 90's. Besides, Trick'r'Treating takes place after school off school grounds. He has no authority to forbid anything.

Also, easily bypassed: Cache the weapons before you get into Snyder's sight, retrieve after. After all, the Scoobies *aren't* insane.
Comments from author:
Actually I'd like to argue that considering Sunnydale is a suburb of LA. Cities like La, New York, and Philadelphia had tough 'no weapons' rules well before the 90s. It's only after '98 and the Columbine incident that schools across the country cracked down as hard as urban school systems in troubled cities. So its not beyond reason the school would have a rule about no weapons, it just might be more along the lines of detentions/suspensions than the expulsion consequences of our modern times. Additionally, the trick or treaters are being picked up and returned to the school campus so while Snyder DOES NOT have any say once the students pick up their charges and leave campus, he does have say while they are on high school grounds. It's the equivalent of ringing a gun to a football game, club, or play occurring on school grounds. As long as the school is running the activity and not just hosting it, school rules apply.

Also, this is Snyder and Sunnydale. Considering all the 'gang activity' Sunnydale has it wouldn't be surprising if the town enforced tough no weapon rules for the school district. Snyder seems the type to take any advantage he has to make Buffy and Friends' lives miserable.

As for the Scoobies, Word of Giles is Halloween is supposed to be a night off from the supernatural. They would not expect the need to carry weapons and aside from Buffy, no one seems to regularly carry ANY weapon unless there's a crisis (and even then Buffy only seems to carry a stake or two on her at all times).

So it's not beyond reasoning the the high school would have rules about weapons and objects resembling weapons, for Snyder to be able to use such rules against the Scoobies, and for the Scoobies to agree to it. Not saying they will, but, the point stands.
