Great new chapter Thank you ;D
EDIT: Would that be The Secret Return of Alex Mack? If so Im not reading that yet because Ive been swamped with RL but for you I´ll Give it a go soon :D
Comments from author:
I'm glad you're reading! Xander-centered stories usually get more hits per chapter, and my other current story has a much lower hits-per-chapter reading rate.

Only in Diane Castle stories do we sit through most of a highschool lesson and enjoy it. Now I wish my Latin teachers had been as good as Giles. Or Diane.
I got to say that I'm surprised by how little happened there. We had the announced repairs & homeworks along with a Latin class ... which is pretty low on action or drama on the Scoobie Scale.
Comments from author:
Yeah, things slow down after each of those wacky apocalypse things. :-) If you try and work the assorted episodes into a school year, you realize that not everything can be set exactly one week apart. "Surprise" and "Innocence" *have* to be consecutive. Some eps cannot really be on a Tuesday. Some eps last less than a day, while some must be spanning more than a week.
As for Latin class, there are actually some fairly good works to translate. Forget the yucky stuff you probably had to read, there are works in Latin about brutal wars, and monumental sieges, and some stuff completely inappropriate to let delicate high schoolers see. (Speaking of which, there's a reason high schoolers don't get to read a lot of Jonathan Swift. The guy was the Lenny Bruce of his day. Maybe the Adam Sandler. Oh wait, Adam Sandler never managed to create something so rude, so filthy, so insulting that he had to flee the country to avoid getting locked up or maybe executed. Adam Sandler can only aspire to being another Jonathan Swift.)

Laughy goodness to be had by all!
Comments from author:
Thanks. Sometimes I have to go listen to mid-season Buffy characters to get the 'voices' right.

Happy demi-versary :) It's kinda hard to believe you've produced this quality stuff in only 18 months.
Were they playing the D&D module Tomb of Horrors? Because that's the first thing that sprung to mind. Awesome.
Comments from author:
I'm so glad when someone gets the weird little references I drop in here and there. Yes, that was exactly the D&D module I had in mind.

Congratulations on your rankings. They are well deserved. And I don't remember much from my German classes in High school, only that I learned a lot more about English in my German classes than I ever learned in English classes.
Comments from author:
Interestingly, knowing Latin will really help one learn Hungarian too. Okay, maybe 'interestingly' is the wrong adverb to use there.

Comments from author:
Ahh, the days I could actually diagram sentences without referring back to examples...

Congratulations on your terrific rankings, which you totally, radically deserve. Hee. And that may have been the best latin lesson in all of fiction. The best I've seen, at least. Carry on rocking on. :)
Comments from author:
I wasn't planning on writing that much of the class, but my muse thinks Tony Head is hot.

Now you've got me wishing i could take that class.
I'm pretty sure your Chapter included more information about English than the sum total of every highschool english class i ever had, for example :)
Comments from author:
Well, Giles would probably be a really cool teacher. That always helps.

Congrats!
Please tell me you're going to continue with the latin explainy! I want to know more and don't have the money for a class. I have a latin-english/english-latin dictionary but that's about it.
Comments from author:
I doubt I'll do a lot. A Latin-English translator isn't nearly as useful as a first year Latin textbook, at least given the state of translators I've found on the intarwebz.

Good one. Surprised you dramatized the latin class as you did. You might have something here if you want to write a series of young adult books that include latin lessons -- you might get schools to buy them.
Comments from author:
I wasn't planning on writing that much of Giles' class, but my muse insisted. It could have been worse. She might have made me conjugate all the irregular Latin verbs. :-)

*sigh* such innocence. Makes me wonder if Joyce will be exposed to the night life early and insist on either having Willow and Xander at the Summers' place or at Giles' at all times or something like that.
Edit: I'd forgotten about that.
Comments from author:
Joyce got exposed to the nightlife in season ONE. Darla almost drained her in her own kitchen. Afterward? Joyce was sure the doctors were right and it was a barbeque fork accident. They don't have a barbeque fork. Sunnydale syndrome is strong in this one.

How i wish Joyce really did this in canon for Willow and Xan.
Comments from author:
I think Joyce would have, in offscreen times. After all, she was very kind to them in canon. Oh yeah, except during "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered" and "Gingerbread", both of which were directly due to magic. Too bad Joyce is clue-impervious. :-)
