Review of chapter "That's no moon....." from Dragonwolftiger
Review:
You said that nothing is a threat to Dahak? True the Goa'uld are fairly weak but in large numbers they are like the Achul'atanni? sorry not sure if that name is right. But combine the replicators, the Goa'uld, the need to protect earth, the Asgard, and the free Jaffa whom could with training be a enlisted (of their own free will) army, then you have the Wraith and the Ori whom only the Asgard tech could defeat. Yeah if you think about it you have lots of enemies. Still a great fic and think about continuing, maybe instead of having Sam Carter explode a star with a stargate, they bring in a pair of Planetoids, the Dahak and a new one and wipe out Aphosis's fleet. Remember only the Alterran chair allowed them to defeat Anubis's 60+ ship fleet.

Another perfect Jim Baen/David Weber crossover! And it does deserve a continuation. Yes, Dahak is (very) powerful, but even he (you, the writer, actually!) hinted at the fact that the Ancient Tech under the Ice-Cap could very well be more advanced, so there are possibilities!

There were at least three enemies of the SGC that would be problematic for Nergal. The Ori, the Replicators, and any other rogue ascendants. Until then, the hellmouth still needs policing. Also, moving the moon will have serious magic related consequences so it is probably gonna be stuck for the entire run of Buffy. The tech and enhancements should upgrade the Scoobs and SGC1 very nicely. It will take a decade to get everything ready on Nergal so lots of time to build up to the big battles. Have fun!

thank you for doing one now for a antagonist you have a few options
1 make the snake have a empire that is more realistic after been in control of the milky way for over a 100,000 years
2 there is Wraith they destroyed the alterans after all
3 the Ori are the last i can think of

I love these books. But remember, with Dahak you don't need a protagonist, having humanity simply crush all the evil overlords is justification enough for a continuance. I want a utu class planetoid for Christmas.

anubis flagship with the ancient ship killer weapon could hurt it bad but not kill it, an small fleet of ori battleships could with luck destroy it but not without heavy losses. Atlantis with full power would destroy it with ease and not take any damage doing it, but would probly have most of its power drained in the process and be forced to land. theres no defense against the drone weapons it uses to my knowledge, and atlantis shield is probly the strongest in all of scifi i know of absoulutley no way to get around the shield at full power. the wraith seiged atlantis for YEARS and continuously bombarded its shields with cannons cracking out in the high gigatons of power if not low teratons, before they said screw it sank it and abandoned it, and then it sat for 10,000 years with shields up on the bottom of an ocean. yeah that a damn tough shield.
There is a way to introduce a strong enough enemy without having to add another crossover to the mix but it would make it really AU. What would happen if Anubis gained possession of an Asgard computer core and established a Time Dilation field around some worlds he controls with both research and ship building capability? His fleet could be expanded literally overnight and the ships he produces could dwarf anything earth has seen...
Alternately may I suggest if Janus summoned one ship why not another? Most frightening would be a Borg Sphere in my mind. But any hostile race from any universe could suffice. Heck even some of the not so hostile races could potentially make a decent conflict. How would a B5 Vorlon react to being in a universe without any of its race? Or worse what would happen if someone like Andrew or Warren dressed as Darth Ravan and gained access to the Star Forge?
Possibilities are endless... also the conflict could be vastly different. Just because the ship is undamaged does not mean it has the fuel needed to power it for long.

Comments from author:
Dahak has a Core Tap (basically a SUPERSIZED ZPM), and LOTS of Fusion plants. Not gonna run out of power for a LONG time. He sat in Earth orbit as the moon for 50,000 years and was active for a long time before then. Imperium life span was on the order of 5+ centuries.

The Ori might manage to be a threat, hell, the snakes might manage if they threaten to attack and destroy whatever allies the Dahak is furthest away from.
Me? I just want to see the Senator's head spin when the news hits his desk.

When I first read about the challenge, this was the first crossover that came to mind. I am so glad someone wrote it. The line for Jack was cool as well. Did Harmony's personality get over written by the spell, or is it merged with the blond? 16 years of memories would after all fail to stem 50,000 years, even if she wasn't away for most of it, of memories. As for enemies, what about getting something from about a threat from another universe, or the future? What if you set it up as being in the world of warhammer 40,000.
Something like Ethan's spell creating the ship, awakens or draws out the chaos demons early, and Xander plus his crew must lead humanity against them. A full 40,000 years ahead of scheduled...will they win, or will the future of the Warhammer verse still happen.
And for anyone who thinks the Star Gate universe couldn't become Warhammer, 40,000 years is a long time for the universe to change enough to look like it. You would be surprised what the universe would look like after if you chucked a few temporal weapons around the place, and added a few civilizations with a god complex, who think they could do a better job at creating life then The Creator. (The Vorlons, The Shadows, The Engineers, etc...)
Sorry for the min rant, and I hope that helps a little.
Thank you for letting us read your work. I can't wait to read more of it.
Sincerely
John
