It's a Real Life thing, at least it was once; my ninth grade English teacher, the most influential teacher I can remember in my entire pre-college education, came up with it. I've found some other variations online since, but not that one in particular. Since I was trying to come up with a 'teaching dance' anyway for this ficlet ... I thought I'd honor her with it, since she's the first adult-type person I can really remember complimenting my writing in more than just an 'oh, that's nice dear' kind of way. :-)

A lovely, humorous moment post-canon--it truly vibrates with the feeling of family. And I love the idea that Zoe has a bit of wash still with her. thanks for sharing a happy moment on Serenity.
