Review of chapter "Only Ship in the Quadrant" from DarthPayne
Review:
I do hope to see more of this fic soon... :)
Comments from author:
Thank you. So do I ;)

Seriously though, I've got about 6-7 pages on the last chapter done... but it has been a bit of a slog. I'm still making progress though, which I consider a positive sign.

Infinity Box by HMaxMarius : Why no updates for this interesting Star Trek RPG / BtVS story you developed to answer the Willow as Captain Challenge , Because you made so good of a start with what you wrote so far please some more soon ???, If required bribe your muse with some cookies OK .
Comments from author:
My big reason is that I'm bogged down getting the set-up for the final chapter's confrontation just right. I'm trying to do more with the Stargate characters and I'm not nearly as comfortable with them as I am with the Buffy bunch. I think it is very important that the characters are believably in character. Progress is slow, but progress is being made on the final chapter of Infinity Box...

Good news is that I'm already plotting out the second episode, 'Infinity Box: Rocks and Shoals' and hooks are being planted in this chapter for that episode. (Note, I intend to include a JAG crossover in that episode).

Thought about what training Cordy could train that could benefit the ship and the fleet. Starfleet would have a ship counselor training program the Cordy could train in. Holograms teaching proper techniques and getting her certified to serve as ships counselor. Her holodeck trainers

1. A simiuation of Deanna Troi-Riker
2. Same of the Voyager EMH / ECH
3. Simulation of A Vulcan (This will Drive Cordy Sturcrazy). Logic upon Logic

That could get Cordy certified as a counselor in a short peroid or put her in the Federation Funny Farm.

Secondly Dawn S. need to pull a Mccoy on Jack. "I'm Doctor not a _____!"

I hope these ideas help you finish the chapter.
Comments from author:
:) Well I did have Dawn use that line on Andrew :P

And COUNSELOR??? CORDY??? Uh, unless its a fashion counselor ;)

Actually, to begin with, I think she's going to be more of a 'social adviser' since Willow is going to have to 'hob-nob' with the power elite *cough*Kinsey*cough* and neither her upbringing nor her Federation memories will really help there.

Cordy finding her niche would be a great arc to incorporate across several stories though!

Review:
Great story. It reminds me of the Ship of the Line challenge fics I've been reading, only with Willow as the captain. Either way, it's really cool, and you've gotten further than most of those stories. :) None of them had to do a boarding mission, at least not yet. So I'll be looking forward to reading more. :)
Comments from author:
The specified challenge was very similar, just with Willow the one in command. I did list SOTL as a secondary challenge.

An advantage and disadvantage I think I had was that I was very focused on getting to the other side of that battle and was able to write what is posted very quickly. The disadvantage is that because of that focus, I've encounter a massive writer's block on my concluding chapter for this episode. I'm attempting to overcome it, but it is taking time, and I'm not going to 'cheese' the ending.

Thank you for the encouragement. I've hit a bit of writer's block on the final chapter of this installment... I'm hoping to break that and get it finished soon.

GREAT story. Both canons work. The logic works. The story is beginning to flow really nicely. I'm looking forward to seeing it grow.
Comments from author:
Thank you very much. My muse's defenses are finally starting to show cracks... I might actually get some writing done on the last chapter this weekend.

*cries on my keyboard*

I'm STUCK!!! I know what I want to happen in the last chapter of 'Infinity Box' (Where Do We Go From Here), but someone poured quicksetting plaster around me while I was writing the first segment :(

I have two or three scenes I need to set the stage ... I can see the characters... and their lips are moving, but I can't hear a blasted thing they're saying!

*thud* *thud* *thud* (uh, sorry about the desktop) *thud*

I'll get this licked and get going... even if it takes cutting Jack loose with C-4...

Review:
I happy to hear that you will be doing this as an espodic series. My plot bunnies have been raging and though this may be an idea that you can get the SG-1 team a lession in humility and be funny to boot

1. The members of SG-1 and General Hammond each take the Kobyashi Maru Test.
2. One of them (Not Col. O'Neill) does something that only a Kirk has done before, if I am correct. That's Right, Beat the No Win.
(Jim Cheated, Peter Challenged the Romulian commander in the Sarek Novel)
3. When O'Neill gets his command shot up (Enterprise no Suffix) on the holodeck, the view screne opens and Willow walks in wearing a Wrath of Kahn Admirals Uniform, O'neill states to Willow

O'neill: Any recommendations, Maam.
Willow: Prayer, Col. O'Neill, Klingons do not take prisoners.

How Poetic. Hope this helps

Edit Response: I agree with you on that point, it is the Academy. Yet I think that Jack would engage his mouth before thinking stating to Willow that SG-1 could beat the Maru or make a good show of it.

Willow would accept the challenge, if just to give a lession in humility to SG-1 the team and get good blackmail material for General Hammond. The betting pool would be highly contested and Willlow and her crew could cleanup at SG-1's expense.

However I leave what you are planning to SG-1 to your determination.
Comments from author:
Interesting ideas... Though I kinda doubt I'm gonna have a KOBAYASHI MARU test as that is a Starfleet Academy function... Willow's gonna be more focused on training up a crew via hands-on.

I'm developing plans for Jack and the rest of SG-1... don't worry... I think you'll end up liking it once it plays out.

Edit: GAH!!! New Plotbunny!!!! With what I'm planning for SG-1 in episode 2... that could actually work for a future ep!!! *still doesn't help me get unstuck on the last chapter though*

Review:
Awesome story so far, can't wait for the final chapters...and MANY MANY sequels.

This review is more of a response to a response to a response...you mention Kinsey. REALLY looking forward to seeing you give that jackass a black eye...or worse.
Comments from author:
Well, we'll see about how many sequels get written... Maybe if I hold with the 'five and a teaser' format... Who knows, after I do a few of these to get things properly established I might throw open for others to write 'episodes' (so long as they follow the format) ;) There are a few characters and technology issues I would need to establish first.

As to Kinsey... it's looking more and more like Episode two will have him, and SG-1 going at each other while the Buffy bunch are attempting to fight off a hostile take-over... The more I think about this, the more hooks I need to set in act five of Infinity Box.

Really glad you're enjoying the story!

Review:
I can't wait until you get the Prometheus to Season 7 of SG-1. I imagine that Anubis will be very surprised at the abilities of this ship. I think by then though Willow will find herself in command of a true Starfleet.

I wonder if in your Infinity Box universe do the Klingons, Romulans, Vulcans, and other Trek races exist alongside the Stargate races. It would be so interesting to see a Vulcan scout ship make first contact with Earth now that it has the Prometheus and perhaps making plans to build new ships to aid her. I think the BC-303s and DSC-304s should be built, but with Trek Tech and perhaps some of the smaller Trek ships as well. I still say an improved version of the NX-class ships would be a good step and they're closer to the tech level of Stargate Command anyways. Perhaps some Grissom-Class Science Vessels to explore scientific and astrometric phenomena should be built too. Then the Intrepid-Class cruisers like the Voyager and the Defiant-Class escorts could be added to the fleet. It's too soon to have Galaxy-Class Exploration Cruisers, but the Enterprise or Constitution-Class Cruisers and perhaps Excelsior-Class ships too could become part of the fleet in time.
Comments from author:
That might take a while to get to. Especially since I'm doing this more like episodes of a series. (not that I'm gonna do 24 stories and call it a 'season').

No, there will not be Trek races in the Stargate universe, other than Jenny as the token Trill. That, however does not mean that we won't see other Trek races, as I do have SOVERIEGN OMEGA planned for after I've written a few other stories.

I have a few problems planned that will prevent a general production run of Trek ships. In fact, the major one will see significant modifications made to the PROMETHEUS. As my beta pointed out, Stargate ships are orders of magnitude faster than Star Trek ships. (Galactic void crossings in weeks while VOYAGER would have needed over 70 years to get back from the far side of the Delta Quadrant.) I've already dropped hints regarding this by referencing the depth into subspace that the Ha'taks were cruising.

With that said, the SGC now has the wreckage of two ha'taks and the resources of the PROMETHEUS to reverse engineer the Goa'uld technology. Lets just say that the X-303 isn't going to have an al'kesh hyperdrive ;). And yes, there will be a fleet by the time Anubis comes to play... Although knowledge of the PROMETHEUS and her individual capabilities would be known by then. Of course they would not have seen a proper fleet action coordinated by a Commodore/Admiral Rosenberg yet... ;)

I'm still struggling to get the final chapter rolling... there's lots that needs to happen and yet very little action, so it's a bit of a struggle getting the preliminary scenes set up... Plus, I'm thinking that Kinsey might simultaneously win and lose a particular fight he lost in SG-1...

Awesome, Astounding. Far exceeded expectations for a Halloween premise gone berserk. I love this kind of berserk.
Comments from author:
Thank you! I still have one more chapter to wrap this one up... (Progressing slowly at the moment).

I do have several follow-on story ideas as well. Much as I love 'epic' works, I'm thinking that the five acts and a teaser TV model is perfect for this series.

Review:
I discovered there was a Chulak known to the Federation, Chulak of Romulus was a defeated Romulan Military Commander. It might be interesting for Willow & Co to mention the irony of name: a Romulan in the Star Trek Universe shares his name with a Goa'uld Planet in the Stargate one.

How Long till Teal'c seeks to obtain a Lightsaber of his own. Even if he must apprentice himself to (Shudder) Johnathon. Sam will, I think geek out once the crisis has completely passed, over all the new Technology. Daniel is going to be in paradise, all the New (To Him) Cultures for him to Study. Jack's snarking will be defeated by the true master of the art Cordelia.

TTFN
Comments from author:
Hmmm interesting... Though I think that's the kind of geek level thing Andrew would bring up ;)

Good question. How early in SG-1 did Teal'c develop his fascination with the 'Galactic Rebellion'? Sam will geek and then be greatly disappointed, as she's not going to just get an info-dump. Danny... hmmm you know, I'm kinda thinking that SG-1 might not be good fits aboard, too important they be out there. Maybe I'll go with recruiting the Atlantis folks... McKay, Zelinka, the Doctor... Kinda like I showed the folks who ended up commanding the 303 and 304s' being the GL test pilots...
