Oh so sad. but I underdstand that Buffy would not want to be loved for who she might have once been but who she is now. I have to wonder if you are going to make her immortal in one of your future installments? It is possible she already is, either because her fea is Elven or because Willow chained her to the Earth when she brought her back from heaven? Or is that where she is now?

Poor Elrond, he gets stabbed twice in the heart. Awren and the twins at least didn't feel that cold bite of reality. I adore Buffy/Haldir shipping. One of my favorite ships. They are one of the more compatable ships. At least in my opinon. Plot idea is great. Flows good. Everything is very orderly, all very easy to read and understand. A lot of good food for thought. Very enjoyable read. Was nice to see Gladerial and Celaborn get to bond with Buffy. All three of them needed that. Buffy from the lose of her mom. Them from the lose of there daughter. That was very sweet. All three stories are very well done and most imporantly to me. Are a joy to read. Thank you for sharing with us all.

Thank you for your lovely comment. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Whether it was intentional or not, the description of Celebrían reminded me so very much of Joyce Summers at her best. I can also very definitely see Buffy wanting to do everything in her power to spare three children, even grown adults, the pain of losing their mother again; especially after having just had her return to them, even though she has not. Absolutely brilliantly done, as have been the previous chapters of this story.
Is there any possibility that we will get the conversation between Haldir and Buffy? I'm truly interested in what Haldir thinks of Celebrían's alternate life and all that it entailed and what she went through.
Thank you for the update! It's getting to the point that I'm looking forward to these more than my morning coffee and afternoon tea. :)
(moved to bottom of comments, since TTH doesn't allow html in comments) When was Buffy returned to Middle Earth? Post season six, so that she had experienced heaven? Just after she jumped from Glory's tower? I'd love to know, so I can formulate some opinion of what Buffy's mental state may be in all of this. ETA: *smacks self in forehead* Well, duh....you had put that information in the author's note at the beginning of the first chapter! Pardon, I have a bad habit of quickly skimming such things and forgetting them. *blushes* Neverrr miiiiind! But, since this is immediately post "The Gift", it is going to be really rough on everyone if you decide to allow Willow to eventually pull Buffy from Middle Earth. Ouch.

I'm glad you enjoyed my depiction of Celebrían. There's very little really known about her, so I just pictured her as THE mother, much like, as you said, Joyce at her best. As far as Haldir's thoughts on Buffy's other life... we shall see. I must admit this thing is turning bigger than I every planned!
Have to agree with GRD, I'd love to see Buffy out hunting orcs with the twins and Haldir. They would all be quite surprised at how amazing she is in battle! Then again, that would also be a terrible time for Buffy to get a flash of memory of the trauma she suffered as Celebrían and that would be just her rotten luck.
((I logged in just to review this story. Had been meaning to review the series since you started it, but this is the one that really forced me to.))
This was so beautiful and heartbreaking. Everyone knows she isn't Celebrian yet they can't help but be reminded of her and hope that what they lost has finally been returned. I can't imagine how hard this must be for Elrond and even for Buffy. I really cannot wait to see where you are going with this story.
