Very nice start here, I can't wait to see where it goes. I will admit I was among those that was put off by the nu in the summary. In my experience spelling like that indicates a low quality story.

I like the addition of the Maquis to the story. They being from a parralel Universe to the ship, will be invaluable to Xander. Also the Maquis being REAL FREEDOM FIGHTERS, they will be more apt to help Ishta and her people. I mean Moloc, he even sickens the other Goa'uld with his depravity.

Review of chapter "Chapter One - Where quite a few have gone before" from redboy
Review:
At the climax of the “Star Trek” reboot movie, young-Spock manually piloted ‘the Jellyfish’ onto a collision course with the Narada. I was thinking about how Spock is a science officer driven by the pursuit of knowledge and that it’d be in-character for him to spare a second to instruct the ship computer to send data back to the Enterprise. The Jellyfish had a voice recognition system, so Spock could’ve given a vocal command while his hands were preoccupied piloting the vessel.

.(1)the Jellyfish’s sensor logs from when it traveled through a black hole could give insights on better protection against spatial/temporal distortions, transwarp conduits, controlled time-travel, artificial wormholes, etc.

.(2)Historical records, such as accounts of how the Maquis were crushed by the Cardassian-Dominion Alliance. All Federation ships carry massive databases on history and culture completely unrelated to exploration, diplomacy, or military operations.

.(3)info on the Jellyfish’s blue prints and schematics [trans-metaphasic shielding, a hull designed to withstand unstable atmospheres, a safe means to transport Red Matter, etc.].

.(4)detailed scans of the Narada’s interior as the Jellyship was held it’s shuttle bay.

The Jellyship was built in 2387. U.S.S.Voyager returned to Earth in 2378, meaning discoveries from the Delta Quadrant could have been incorporated into the Jellyship or indirectly influenced its design as Voyager’s information gets disseminated between the Federation and the Vulcan Science Council over the course of nine years (2387 minus 2378 equals 9).

interesting fact, the actress that plays Ishta is the same actress that plays T-pol on Enterprise. The lovely Jolene Blalock.

Review:
Xander’s and Cortana’s biggest advantage isn’t technology but their knowledge of 20th century American pop-culture that they can draw upon for ideas and inspiration, not to mention the fact that you as a fanfic author don’t have to worry about copywrites or trademarks. If you decide that Xander wants to build R2 astromech droids to help B’Elanna in engineering, you have the freedom to do so if you want.

“In your face, George Lucas! Mwahahah!!!”

Most of the characters in Star Trek seem to suffer from ‘creative sterility,’ although this is probably the result of finite money for props and sets rather than the writers being unimaginative With the exception of the Borg and Nero’s Narada the Federation rarely learn from their encounters with more advanced alien civilizations.

A webcomic called “Quentyn Quinn Space Ranger” did a satire out several flaws in the “Star Trek”: *over-dependence on structural integrity fields, *ships having a single computer system that runs everything yet has minimal compartmentalization or cyber-security, *the inherently volatile nature of anti-matter reactions in comparison to safer fuel like zero point energy so the ship doesn’t risk detonation every time there’s engine problems, *security limited to voice recognition and internal force fields, etc.

Review of chapter "Chapter One - Where quite a few have gone before" from johnjr
Review:
How many shuttles does the Enterprise have? Stranded in hostile territory far from home much like the U.S.S.Voyager, it may become necessary for them to build a multiple-purpose shuttle/Runabout like the Delta Flyer, albeit with UNSC, Gou’ald, and Ancient tech instead of Borg Collective tech. One of the Enterprise’s larger cargo bays could be converted into a hangar or secondary shuttlebay for the construction, repair, and maintenance of auxiliary spacecraft.

The Federation signed the Treat of Algeron which made it illegal to develop or use cloaking devices, but there’s nothing to stop Xander, Cortana, and the surviving Val Jean crew from trying to build a cloaking device. Otherwise, the Enterprise will be a sitting duck as it travels through Gou’ald-controlled space fiefdoms.

Assuming that the Enterprise will eventually return to Earth, will the ship’s sensors be able to detect the Ancient outpost in Antarctica? If the Enterprise discovers the outpost before Stargate Command does, they could take tricorder scans of the Control Chair and teleport a few Drone Weapons back to the Enterprise before the American military tries to take control of the outpost. The Enterprise has a limited number of photon torpedoes, so taking a few Drone Weapons would be practical. Also, a neural interface head-set derived from tricorder scans of the Control Chair could be added to the Enterprise’s bridge; this would reduce Cortana’s burden and allow her to devote more processing power to other tasks.
