Review of chapter "Jailbreak" from Livingshadow
Review:
Humm, I'm really interested in why Khan called faith 'mother'. Then again...if you read about the Augments, they were created and bred for war, later throwing over humanity when they themselves had enough, and saw themselves superior to humans. (which IS true, no matter how you look at it) just pointing it out, Faith comes from an alternate universe where their technology is...well, crap compared to Khans reality. They probably thought faith was from a time WAY before Khans, and thus was the start of the Augments, the 'Eve'.
Plus...who is faith going to join? because I bet she's pretty angry at the humans right now, plus it wasn't Khan who betrayed the 'good guys', it was Kirk shooting him in the back, literally.
I know it was because he was listening to Older Spock...just, HELLO: the entire time-frame is different because of Nero. Khan originally wanted to rule the humans once more when he saw just how advanced they had become since he was asleep, all this Khan wanted was his crew back.

I...can't help but think Faith will join Khan because she HAS no other choice.

Khan's actions would have either made humans fear him (and her because they refuse to believe she's anything but an Augment) or feel greed because well, living weapon.
Though I love Spock and the others...they didn't exactly fight hard enough to break her free (plus, there is no way that Starfleet didn't know about what Markus was doing...how the hell do you hide a ship of THAT size, the crew, the supplies for both the ship and the crew...they also had information about Khan, and THATS how Markus found him).

I honestly do hope that she joins Khan: humanity will never change.

Way to pull a Keyser Söze! Definitely the creepiest way to explain the Augments I've seen.

Really excellent series that I hope you'll be inspired to continue. It's an excellent look at Faith... screwed by the universe & men, but her friends remain true & faithful. I was going too say that Faith has a bad history with the government, but that's true of all the slayers isn't it. Anywho, it's unclear where Faith previously meet Khan.

question
Wasn't Faith supposed to not KNOW anything about the augments? where did the whole "Mother" thing come from?

GOOD! She's out of the jail cell, kicking ass and taking names. I laughed when I read about how she made that psychiatrist piss himself. Although, she should have made him piss AND shit himself! Would have been loads funnier that way.

Khan, for all of his intelligence, really didn't know squat about Slayers; if he had, he'd have known NOT to piss off Faith, who was easily the most temperamental, not to mention dangerous of the Slayers.

Uh, he's not her and Xander's kid, is he? That would just be heartbreaking.

Is the Council still around, in hiding, with the Slayers sleeping or with their powers bound? Once they hear about Faith, and they're GONNA, the fallout is going to be epic.

I read a ficlet here, about Spock's mother, Amanda, being either a Slayer or Potential, and how her death was felt by Buffy, who was a couple of centuries old by then. Sarek didn't really believe that she could have felt it, but it would have been a fascinating storyline to explore.

Spock, born of the Vulcan Ambassador, and a kick-ass Slayer who doesn't take any kind of shit from anyone. Not demons, vampires, Vulcans, humans, etc. About the only one she'd take shit from would be her husband, and even THEN, she toss it back at him with shit to spare.

Holy crap balls!! Faith fits in so well in this universe, it's just amazing. I want to know more about the relationship between Faith and Khan. It's totes obv (:)) that he's made from her DNA, but there has to be more to it. There was a whole lot of hostility. Please post the next part soon, this story is too good!
Comments from author:
Thank you! There will definitely be more on the connection between Faith and Khan in the next installment.

So the Augments were created using Slayer DNA (with or without the Slayers' permission)? That . . . actually makes a lot of sense!

Khan really should have known better than to call Faith 'mother', but I'm glad that Spock had the guts and good sense to claim her as one of theirs, one of the 'Enterprise' family, there at the end!

Excellent work incorporating the new movie into this series!

Thanks! The Augments were created using Slayer DNA, very much without the Slayers' permission. (Khan definitely should have known better.) Once I make up my mind whether or not to tie this to Sleeping Scoobies, there will be more about the connection between the Slayers and the Augments, and Faith and Khan.

Sweet! So glad to have Faith out of the cage, and kicking ass.

Also, I'd loooooove some expansion on the connection between Slayer(s) and Augments, though what you have here is enough to infer quite a bit. Thank you for this addition to the series!
Comments from author:
Thank you for the review! There will be more on the connection between the Slayers and the Augments in the next installment of the series, which will happen as soon as I decide whether or not to tie this in with Sleeping Scoobies.
