I really enjoyed reading this! This is definitely one of the best CM/BtVS fics out there.

Review:
This is a really good look at the B.A.U. looking at the life of Buffy Anne Summers during her time as The Slayer and their attempts to psychoanalyze her and getting it all wrong except that her Joker laugh is really creepy.

I'm really looking forward the continuation of this interesting plot and will enjoy watching as the straight, clinical and only slightly twisted world of Criminal Minds collides head on and splatters al over the place with the creepy dark and ultimately twisted world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

*If life gives you lemons... ask if its giving out gold instead.*

I'm glad that you've enjoyed this fic so much! I definitely agree that perspective and whatever facts that you have to go on matter immensely to how you view a person/situation. Thanks so much for reading and commenting!

I so wish you'd come back to this. it's an interesting look at the limits of 'analysis'. If you don't know all the possibilities, you can't profile people who don't fit inside your parameters.

more soon? I know life and muse can be cruel... here's a wish that you have plenty of time and energy to write, and that muse showers you with his blessings (My muse is male ;-)

Comments from author:
I had the rest of the story written but it was lost during some computer troubles and I haven't done more than pick at the rewrite in fits and starts, I'm afraid. But I *am* working on it and it's definitely nice to know that it'll be enjoyed. Thanks so much for your lovely well-wishes!

I'm glad that you're enjoying this story! Eh, all of my chapters for this fic were lost (including the back ups) so I have to rewrite them. Reproduction is *hard.*

So thanks for the encouragement! (And for reading and commenting!)

Okay. I just reread this and I can't wait for the next chapter. You can't just end it here... such a cliffhanger.

Oh, one comment. Deaths _did_ go down in Sunnydale during Buffy's tenure there. The reason Buffy got named class protector was that the graduating class of '99 was the _largest living_ class on record. This was thanks to Buffy.

However, I could see Buffy's prophetic dreams leading her somewhere before things happen, they happen, and when she leaves, they're gone due to slaying.

Oh, one canon issue. The institution is canonically _after_ Lothos and the return from Vegas. The Vegas trip happens after Lothos as well. There's an official origin comic that goes through the events of the movie as if they happen in the TV Series universe, and it goes through Buffy's incarceration at the mental institution. Basically Pike tells the Scoobies the story.
Comments from author:
I'm definitely not going to leave this fic here. It's not finished yet!

While I certainly agree that Buffy saved some people's lives - and most often saved the lives of people that she saw every day, such as her classmates - there's no way that the various plotlines that involved massively upping the locals' deaths (and all of the Sunnydale villains had at least one of these) did anything good for the population count or the murder statistics. So I stand by my statements that, although Buffy may have saved a lot of people, her efforts were balanced out by gratuitous deaths caused by her various opponents.

Although, I find that to be an interesting idea regarding Buffy's prophetic dreams. (And it's definitely not one that I'd considered before.)

I haven't read the origin comic and, honestly, I probably won't. To me, canon is compact - it may or may not include the movie but doesn't go beyond the television series. In short, I don't acknowledge the comics in any Buffy fic I've ever written. So I feel like it's fine to play with Buffy's personal timeline on the front and back ends, especially since movies have sometimes enormous time skips between scenes. But thanks for the tip!

And thanks so much for reading and commenting!

Living people leave trails so Garcia's bound to find *something* on some of those people, even if its just suspicious blank spots. And Willow can't exactly reach into a contractor's computer and erase the account or orders for materials for building or refurbishing an academy. (Well, she could, but it'd soon be difficult to get jobs done in those areas. I suppose she could unleash a virus but most people/businesses/entities keep backups.) There are simply going to be records that can't be hidden or erased or sealed, I'm afraid.

Yeah, but I got the impression by Hotch saying . "And track down Buffy Summers' financials" things were going futher than that. You're talking about diging into people's bank accounts, credit histories and other things on a level that would set off all sorts of alarms if you did it with a court order.

Now imagine doing it *without* one or the knowlege or approval of other govement agencies and others who's turf would be getting stepped on in the process, and would have reason to concerned about such things.
Comments from author:
The bank accounts, credit histories, etc. belong to Buffy (& Co. in some instances). Therefore, it's not any other government agency's turf. Other government agencies wouldn't be able to sue or press charges because they aren't the party with standing. (And, honestly, from what I understand it's not hard for someone to check your credit score/history as a matter of course/business, without having to tell you much less petition the courts.) The banks could protest/sue/press charges for an invasion of their records on behalf of their clients as they too would be considered to have a stake or standing in the injury done to Buffy (& possibly Co.).

Plus, government bureaucracies are such that the left hand often has no clue what the right hand is doing/has done... unless it somehow directly intersects their own interests. Regardless, however, one branch or level of government doesn't have to ask another for permission to pursue something that they have a legitimate interest in. (However, it's debatable as to how legitimate the BAU's interest is in Buffy. There's also a question of how legal Garcia's poking around methods and locations are. As useful as she is, I strongly suspect that most of the evidence that she provides in the show - and the everything that comes from that initial, illegally obtained evidence - would probably be tossed out in court.) There would, however, be a serious threat of disciplinary measures... and the federal criminal prosecutor.

The British government (among others) might be willing and able to protest a (detected) cyber invasion of their financial institutions or medical records as an invasion of their citizen's rights or an insult to their sovereignty over their people/places/institutions but how strongly they'd press their injury (and what, if anything they'd do about it) is a different matter.

So the short of it is, if it's done legally, looking into financial records isn't as easy as Hotch expects it to be. But, if they did it illegally (as they so often do on the show), it's super unlikely that any American agency would have the power to go after the F.B.I. for the B.A.U.'s actions. The federal prosecutor, Buffy herself, the banking/legal institutions invaded, and whatever form of internal affairs the F.B.I possesses, however, are different matters.

...There might be a hint as to how that'll all work out in that ridiculously long spiel...

Review:
So they have taken note of the number of deaths around Buffy. Have they bothered to look up the statistics for the year(s) before? Those might prove interesting when they do. This is still a very interesting story and I look forward to more. The amount of misconceptions is leading to a very twisted view of Buffy. When they first start tweaking the profile (after maybe noticing that death rates go down after Buffy arrives somewhere or the Class Protector Award) I wonder if they will start to wonder if she's a Dexter, hunting other killers?
Hope to read more soon.

I'm glad that you're enjoying this story so much!

I've never been convinced that Buffy actually lowered the death rates in Sunnydale... or most of the other places that she visited, mostly because something about Buffy's presence makes the local villains step up their game. I suspect that most of the time she just keeps things from getting appreciably worse as a result of her presence.

Anyway! Thanks so much for reading and commenting!

Review:
Nice chapter. And I wonder how come Rossi and Hotch both jumping at the angle that Buffy was the Hermy High killer.

And I might as well add, that its refreshing when author manages to poetry Buffy's side that hadn't get much attention on the show. As in that when she has opportunity and time for her study, she can do as well as Willow and at some subjects even better.

That happened in the show too. Once when she was in collage, before crazy stuff started to crop up and she haven't got the time.
And in High school Sunnydale when she came back after she was expelled, she had to pass some tests. And her SATS are high score.

Don't know from where that she is unable to learn comes from, probably from the same that she can not cook edible food.(Thanksgiving -not master chef, but not someone who can't cook to save her life either)
Comments from author:
Thanks!

I definitely agree that, based on those details, Buffy is far smarter than she presents herself to be. I was actually sad when she stopped dating that Owen boy, the one who gave her a book of poetry, because he definitely saw facets of Buffy that not even Giles or Angel noticed. It's too bad that the writers decided to introduce a fatal flaw in Owen so that Buffy couldn't date him for awhile.

(And yeah, I'm not sure where either bit of fanon comes from, either!)

Thanks so much for reading and commenting!

I really like this. In chapter 3 you addressed the 'face' Buffy wears for her friends, and the (to other people) horrible things she has to do on a regular basis. This was both true and disturbing. Just considering the average number of vamps or baddies she 'slayed' on patrol each night and the number of years she has been active. She will likely be one of the scariest people the BAU has ever encountered.

Yeah, if you stop a moment and strip away all of Buffy's rigamarole, she's a terrifying character.

Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!
