Review of chapter "Chapter Three." from DieselDriver
Review:
It would be pretty darned hard on someone trying to stay in the military with all the crap that would be directed at her for having all that money. Sycophants would boil out of the woodwork and she'd never, ever, have an honest fitness report. Not to mention the vindictiveness of some folks who might be her superiors might inflict because of jealousy.
Comments from author:
I think Cordy could handle it...this is Cordy y'know and she's grown up a lot.

I've known of one guy (not an officer) who was in the army who was in the same sort of position. It didn't seem to bother his buddies, they knew he was 'rich' but didn't appear to care that much.

Cheers,
D.

Review of chapter "Chapter One" from DieselDriver
Review:
Knowing how it feels to be in constant pain gives me a lot of sympathy for Cordie. But the stupid pain pills are addictive and gotta take them anyway. Running out every so often reminds you of just how bad it hurts ALL THE FREAKING TIME!!!

It's good that she can skip taking them from time to time.
Comments from author:
Burns victim here, I know about pain...but at least in my case it goes away eventually.

Poor old Cordy, I think I was writing her as having 'issues', I think she's too strong willed to become addicted.

Cheers,
D.

Review of chapter "Chapter Three." from BlueEyedBrigadier
Review:
Well now...Cordy's back in the 1% Club but knows her life as a Marine is the better path. Excellent news, since US military pensions are apparently not super-duper. Plus, I can see a good chunk of that $135M being redistributed to help out active slayers and such, since I've wondered how the whole mess from Willow's reality-bending spell that led to Buffy in jail and Riley forced to retire and Willow basically relegated to unmagical smartypants with no sense (till she rubs a few braincells together).

Can't wait to see more of this and the mainline FITA universe, DaveTurner!

Thank-you.

Review:
As always, well done.

Saw that little thing you slipped in there about Cordy's leg not hurting the next morning, guess we'll see if that was a one off or something to watch going forward. What will be really intriguing is seeing what she decides to do now that she can do anything she wants. I'm (not so secretly) hoping she retires 25 years from now as General Cordelia Chase, the first female Commandant of the Marine Corps. You said in response to another review you'll be bumping her up to Captain soon, thank you.

More please!
Comments from author:
Yep, not in the next story (for reasons that will become obvious) but in the story after...in 'Cordy' time it'll be in a few weeks.

Cheers,
D.

Review:
I can see Cordy doing so much to aid her fellow Marines from wounded vets to homeless vets. Things that her mother would never think of. Her and Her Uncle could even form a business. Well done.
Comments from author:
Yes that's a thought, after all Gran'ma Chase did hope she'd use the cash for the benifit of all.

Cheers,

Waait, so Cordy's uncle is that Major Tom??. Oooh yeah, he must have some very cool tales =)!.
And yeah, I think Cordy can buy herself a nice chopper or two, or three and put together a nice little air company when she retires.
Cool side fic to the main series, see ya!!!.
Comments from author:
Oh I'm thinking that Cordy might do something else with all that money.

Cheers,

Review of chapter "Chapter Three." from Cordyfan
Review:
Good to see that Cordy has at least one decent relative. Her mother must be grinding her teeth down to the gums that she not only didn't inherit a cent, but also can't influence Cordy. And this really is a new model Cordelia - $134m and she's still sticking to her Marine life.

A great little story - thanks for writing this.
Comments from author:
Yep, it opens a whole new set of options for Cordy, I need to think about where I'm going with this.

Cheers,
D.

Review:
Sweet! You write as good a 'Cordy' as you do a 'Faith'. I just hope she doesn't cut her father totally out of her life as the little hints you gave us makes me think he might be more like 'Major Tom' than Cordy might think. Her mother can go to Hell.

If Cordy stays in the Corps I bet a certain retired Brigadier General would be glad to watch out for her monetary interests while she is off killing Big Bads. All in all, a great look at poor Cordy's horrid upbringing and why she was as she was on both shows. Gee, now Cordy can buy Faith her own town to be a sheriff of when they retire!

PS As we have seen lately, the American IRS is not above political pressure. I wonder if the Chases went to Wolfram and Hart for legal advice? Not to mention providing the family with a little political pressure. I am sure the Chases sent money to both the Republican and Democratic Parties, just to cover all their bases.

As to Cordy's rank, I hope she gets promoted to Captain ASAP. I figure she enlisted as a private and went to Boot Camp and some sort of aviation MOS training that took about one year. Then she had to get at least two years of college before she went to OCS. This puts her at three to four years of service. Then she had to attend flight school and finish college before she would be eligible for promotion to captain. Captains and above must have a four year degree in the US Military. So if Cordy now has her degree, possibly in some sort of engineering or a hard science just because it would freak all her high school 'friends', been a 1LT for three or four years it is time for her promotion to captain. With her medals, including a Silver Star, and combat record I figure she should make Major in only three to four years.

Maybe when she retires she should go into politics. Good Lord! My mind just boggled! President Cordelia Chase! I'm not sure this would be Heaven or Hell. Lol!
Comments from author:
Posting this story (I actually wrote it some time ago) and the comments I've received have made me think where I'm going with this series. I don't want to say too much because I might not get around to doing anything about it, but, we might be seeing a lot more of Captain Cordy.

As an aside, the US armed forces do seem to put more into 'book learning' that the UK armed forces who go for a more hand-on, on the job method of training.

Like an RN sub Captain said once, Why do I need to know how my reactor works? That's why I have an engineering officer. The job of the Captain is to con the boat and sink the enemy not look over his officer's shoulders.

You saw it a lot in Star Trek with Kirk telling Scottie how to do his job, no doubt its what drove Scottie to drink!

Anyway, Cordy will get her promotion soon then we'll see what happens next.

Cheers,
D.

Good.

Now that Cordelia has more than a couple coins to rub together, she'll probably be getting a bill for that last helicopter she crashed.
Comments from author:
Now doubt there'll be other too.
