Review of chapter "Chapter Two" from rafestark
Review:
Really like this - got a soft spot for superhumans and mutants that can't 'pass'. Also, any chance to cut Tony down a notch is worthwhile!
Comments from author:
Tony needs a reality check every once in a while. :)

Review:
Oh, excellent chapter, I loved this one. Such wonderful interactions...

I loved how all the girl got interested in Abby's problem and asked her questions and participated. It shows they actually think of her, adn aren't just usign her for completing their Avengers set. I won't go as far as saying they care for her, but they might be on the way, and for a girl like Abby, more friends (especially normals) can never be wrong.

Poor Tony. Though he absolutely deserves it. I have to wonder though, who Liberte and Ms McCabe are (are we talking Lindsay McCabe here?). Though Emerald and Garnet? Definitely better names than She-Hulk and Red-She-Hulk. MJ is certainyl doing her work right.

The jokes. My Lord, Betty and Jen on Tony was brilliant, I couldn't stop laughing. Really, all the conversations between female Avengers were awesome, especially the butt comparison.

Jen and Betty were brilliant. I liked them being so obviously friends who work together, I hate how in the comics they always play up the rivalry between them, as though they have to prove who's the real She-Hulk. This working together for better PR and so forth was right and good. I liked their comparison and teasing about fashion, and how they helped Abby regarding her insecurities about how people treat her and being Blonsky's daughter. Those were truly powerful women, helping others and workign together, being true heroes, and it was wonderful to see some fitting representation of them for once.

Can't wait to see Josh and the others meeting the Asgardians!
Comments from author:
Liberté is just a name at this point; basically, my thought is that there would be other regional superhero groups to handle things outside of America and that not everyone would come flying out of their home country to join "Earth's Mightiest Heroes" when they could stay local and protect their homeland. Bethany McCabe is actually a canon character; she was a female War Machine for a period (might still be, not sure) hence Kat's dialogue about her.

Corsets? CORSETS! That is getting into X-Men and Hellfire Club turf. Be VERY careful when you tread in that area ladies!!!!
Comments from author:
...um, most of my female friends own at least one if not more, and wear them out in public. Kat - the girl from Chapter 1, who's a real person I know - is a grocery store cashier who owns six of them in different colors and styles.

Review:
...I am slowly getting more invested in this story, as I begin to figure things out...

So, let's see what I got: Josh, Madison, Aberration, Rogue and Rachel are in some kind of relationship. Rachel is the voyeur who doesn't have any actual sex. Josh is the Dom, while Rogue, Madison and Aberration are the subs? Did I get that right?

So, whose was the loud exclamation that made Madison decide to confront her mother by going over to her booth, in defiance of her original plans? We've talked about the elationship she has with her sister and mother, so I get that...

So, Rachel seems to get along fine with Janet and the 'Dynesty'. Then again, it appears Emma has given her much experience in that area. I liked the little glimpses of her life we get from that conversation. So the Cuckoos were recently discovered, and Rachel was allowed to step back from the 'public heir to the Frost empire' position in favor of her 'sisters' geting some publicity. Sounds nice enough. I have to woner why Madison put on that outfit, though, if she hadn't planned to from the start?

I can see why Janet gets along with Emma. Although why would Rogue joinign Jean and Emma turn into a menage a quatre? Who else do they have there? I liked the implication that she's basically searching for a dom. Emma is clear, but one has to wonder what makes Piotr, Bobby or Mercury doms... I guess it's not that relevant to the story, though.

Janet is scarily powerful. I love this version of her, a hive queen with multiple hsbands and a girlfriend who's totally in control of everything, and seeing her knock Josh down a peg was refreshing.

I thought Rachel's dress was said to be 'longer'. Then again, if Madison's is more of a leotard, that doesn't mean much... but I though Emma went for a rather more classy style than having her ass pop out?

So Venezia is making a move on Rachel? Cool. I could see it happening. Maybe she's the girl Rachel would actually settle with? Who knows? It seems to intrigue her enough to chance it, even if she's not giving up on Josh yet.

Cassie was nice, I totally get where she's coming from, even if Madison just sees another sister to feud with... Nezzie was really cute, though I can see where it'd get annoying. Anyway, I like this a lot more now I understand more of it, I'd like to see more character and plot development soon, after the smut I assume is coming (heh).

EDIT: Wanda? I want to hear more about this?

It's good to be clearer on the sex situation. Sounds like a good arrangement for them all, and even if Rogue didn't have much choice in her selection, she seems happy. Though I'm surprised Madison isn't in counseling...
Comments from author:
Josh and Rogue are a couple, yes. Rachel is the closest they have to a third partner, although she is indeed "just" a voyeur at this point. Madison and Aberration come and go for the sex; Madison is a borderline nihilist and so she sees Josh as a means to an end when she has "urges", whereas Aberration requires someone... sturdier... than most of the student body can provide.

As for Rogue... as you might have missed because the allusion was rather subtle, she does NOT control her powers yet. She can move about NYCC safely because Josh is suppressing them with his powers. What he giveth, he can taketh away... or not give at all. So if you remove Josh from the equation, you limit her to those who she can safely touch: Emma (diamond form), Bobby (ice form, not fun for sex I imagine), Piotr (steel form), Mercury (liquid metal form). As for Emma and Jean's trois... let's just say that there's a reason that a professor Josh mentally monologues about in Chapter 2 no longer uses their canon codename.

616 likes. ;) I like that. ;)
Comments from author:
There's some fun little winknods scattered through the art. One of the pieces will be a Skype conversation, with a call duration of 16 minutes and 10 seconds. :)

Well, that is one way to get a picture. Especially when you don't realize that the picture is that of the REAL THING!
Comments from author:
With how good some cosplayers are getting, I wouldn't be surprised if that sort of mistake would happen in a world where the heroes were real.

Is this part of Blue Bells? Cause it feels like it is.
Comments from author:
Well, considering that in Blue Belle, Josh and Rogue and Janet van Dyne are peers and yet here Josh is a decade younger than Rogue while Janet has a daughter Josh's age? I'm gonna go with no.

Review:
Well. Um, I don't have much to say. I mean, we knew this was pretty much the premise of what would go on. I liked the interactions, but there wasn't much of anything meaningful besides Rogue learning what kind of Assholes show up at cons, and Aberration meeting Kat. I enjoyed Kat's enthusiasm and open-mindedness... otherwise, I guess I'm waiting for more?
Comments from author:
Well, the story is being arranged into eight pieces that will each have a piece of fanart associated with it, documenting the group's adventures at New York Comic Con. So I had to cut it there because it's the rough segue between the Kat/Aberration part of the scene and the Rogue/cosplayer piece that comes next.

Really liked the pov. Not something that I would have thought of. What would a mutant do at a comicon? This ought to be interesting :)
Comments from author:
It's partially autobiographical, to be honest. A mix of "wouldn't this be a wild idea" and "this one time, at a convention...".

Note 'partially'. That'll be rather important to remember toward the end. LOL.

Wow Josh, you've really grown up to be a jerk. Flatscans, really? Do they teach insulting Brotherhood-speak at Xavier's now?
And still hot for teachers, I see.
The adorable selfie is a great touch though.
Comments from author:
Well, he is a sixteen-year-old dating an older woman who used to be a member of the Brotherhood. And his squad includes the daughter of a woman who was a long-running member of the Hellfire Club.

Keep in mind that when someone sets out an alternate universe, trying to apply what you think is correct to it often ends up being an exercise in futility.

Nicely done! Now, how about doing one for a Doctor Who convention? It would be SO much easier for a character from that show to blend in there!
Comments from author:
I don't watch Doctor Who, just like last time you suggested that crossover.
