Review of chapter "Plane Nuts" from JamesBrown
okay, so you're going to add Tenchi Muyo! to the mix!
after all, who could possibly be the mother of squirrel girl
then one of the Chousin; three sister goddesses who created the universe.
(recognized them from your description, didn't even need the pic at the bottom)
their natural three-dimensional physical forms are over 10,000 km high!
Glory and Eris barely reach insect level in comparison,
and the 'powers that be' are so overmatched it's beyond ridiculous.
No wonder they're getting out of Dodge while the getting's good.

so is Joyce the avatar for Tsunami, Tokimi or Washu,
or some aspect of all three of them ?

in any case, I quite enjoy a well written crackfic,
and this definitely is a good one.
Eagerly awaiting the next chapter of the ongoing insanity that is the story.
Comments from author:
Sort of, sideways, Tenchi Muyo...

Joyce is an avatar of C-ko who replaces, maybe, Tokimi.
Harmony is an avatar of B-ko who replaces, maybe, Tsunami.
Shanice is an avatar of A-ko who replaces, maybe, Washu.

As this is anime, hair colour obviously trumps divine attributes, such as which is the motherly one, and which is the mad scientist. [grin]

There is, obviously, no need for Tenchi. [grin]

It has got a bit crazy, hasn't it?

Thanks for comments.

Blinks. I have no idea what Joyce dressed up as. You got rid of the Goauld part of Eris, but still had the Goddess part roaming around. Glory seemed to be vastly demoted.

Um, since when has C-ko been promoted to one of the Tenchi Chousin? O.k. you were using the 3 fates age thing, but you still stuck them into C-ko. I guess for yet another cross C-ko could double up there as well. I'm all utterly confused, but it is fun so who cares?

I like the idea of Joyce "owning" that universe. Her first act would likely be to declare everyone there members of her group of gods/minions or what not. They've got a universe to monitor and make sure it doesn't break.

I liked that you accidentally made this a SG cross. Those reality waves going out and basically updating everyone's reality will be confusing as heck. If the Goauld were wise, they'd stay far, far away. There is no telling what will happen when they met up... I'm feeling something along the lines of Supreme Galactic Over Lord Eris has been "elected" to run the known galaxy. So there will be Goauld coming to pay homage rather than dare think of upsetting HER.

I wonder what you've done to the Ori and Ascended? They both are likely below this group of PTBs and will be surprised that the universe has been turned over to a rather powerful pantheon based on Earth.
Comments from author:
Joyce dressed up as, involuntarily, C-ko, Earth goddess Eris, Goa'uld Eris, and Glory.

A-ko = Maiden-Huntress, C-ko = Mother-Nuturer, B-ko = Wise Woman-Leader.

Things got a bit mixed up...

New story may, or may not, make things (un)clearer.

Do you think you need to declare ownership of a universe on your tax assessment? [grin]

Thanks for feedback.

Wait a sec, did the PTBs just threw up their collective hands, said "Screw this!!" and abandoned the universe!!?

Wow, woe to this universe.

I wonder who else decided to "bail ship?"

Janus must be laughing his head off right now.

Keep up the good work.

Comments from author:
The aim was to write a (metaphorical) "curb stomp" in a way which wasn't a series of "Buffy kills this. Then this. Then this".

There's actually a reason that the PTB handed over the deeds...

If I'm feeling mad enough, I might write a tidy-up story...

Okay, so now Giles own the universe? Damn. I guess the PTB just let this version of the universe somewhere else, restored from a pre-Halloween backup and just washed their hands of the whole thing.
Comments from author:
Who loaned him the dollar? [grin]

Was the dollar pinched from Buffy's allowance? [grin]

I thought of having a lengthy bit about why the PTB are giving up on this universe...

But, I didn't. Because, it wasn't funny enough. [grin]

If you're interested, no, the PTB didn't just 'restore from backup'. They don't have the sysadmin rights to do that. [grin]

So Joyce dressed as C-ko Eris and some how the Goauld thing gets tossed in there? And there is Glory as well. You got rid of the Goauld, but you still have have Glory and Eris to handle. Hmm, I'm wanting Buffy or Dawn scratched and Joyce coming out and putting a final bitch slap on both Glory and Eris for harming her kids before merging/taking over both of them.

Well, I could see Joyce having two more semi-adopted daughters out of this. A-ko her new best friend, but also Harmony as well. A Harmony/Joyce pairing would be different. I don't know if I've ever actually run across one. I think including A-ko would balance them all out and totally freak Buffy. Especially when she finds out that her mom has two girlfriends her age.

Well, you fixed the Angel soul issue. Most of the Buffy villains were handled. Heck, you even had the Spectre take care of the First Evil. They are ahead on points for sure. I can see the Mayor staying away for a good awhile.

I'm actually curious on what Dawn actually went as. I like the hints of a Dawn/Xander pairing. I liked that you fixed the missing memories or did a merger that freaked them all out. Oddly, I see Xander's stuff sticking rather well.

All of them go their Halloween tech except Andrew and his Bro. I'm wondering Willow's new girlfriend is anyone we know like say Tara.

On the broken star gate... I have a suggestion. Make every star gate that they connect with or attempts to connect with them get infected with the bugs and of course its not something any one out there other than the Ascended could fix.
Comments from author:
Joyce didn't plan to dress as anyone, or, at least that's her story. Whether she was carrying a ribbon device, or a stuffed shoulder snake, when the spell hit...

The PTB have chucked everything and the kitchen sink at this problem, in the hope of handling Squirrel Girl. Double Eris, i.e. Earth god Eris (Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy), and Goa'uld god Eris, was part of it. Dawn gets chucked-in to justify Glory being there - Joyce gets to be Glory's host, instead of being the sacrifice to pay for Dawn's arrival. No Ben. Maybe Hank dies instead? Buffy's maternal grandmother?

I thought setting daughter against mother was about the level of nastiness the PTB would use...

C-ko needs to be dealt with as well - in her own way she is very powerful and dangerous.

Dawn didn't exist before Halloween. The PTB fast-tracked the Monks of Dagon to send her to The Slayer, so they could justify throwing Glory into the mix. If anything, Dawn probably has false memories of dressing in a squirrel costume.

I suppose I'll have to admit that this is a SG:SG-1 cross-over, as opposed to them being fictional in this world...

Pity about the broken Star Gate.

As for the rest...

*spoilers* [grin]

Thanks for feedback!

[Latter addition:

Those aren't bugs, they broke the reality... A phase change, aka a 'collapse in the false vacuum', propagates at light speed. If someone tried to dial Earth, that might mean the same change starts spreading from their gate, at light speed. Faster-than-light ships might also carry the change, elsewhere, if they drop out of FTL within space the change has spread to, then go FTL somewhere else.

Okay, that hellgod will need a better army...
Comments from author:
Hellgod powers, combined with stolen Ancient tech, combined with Earth god magic, and C-ko general indestructibility plus uber-cuteness/charisma, isn't a bad personal power set. Goa'uld racial memory, and mental toughness, is just icing on the cake. Oh, and, being someone the most dangerous hero wont fight.

The army is an indefinite number of totally loyal Jaffa troops and support equipment. That's a lot better than most Big Bads, in any setting, get. That's nearly as good as an army of parademons! The battle space in the library is pretty big, but I think you'd be lucky getting anything bigger than a Death Glider into the fight.

What sort of army do you think Eris should have had?

Thanks for the feedback.

Oh, so Dawn is smart? And they are slowly losing their powers?
Comments from author:
Being the Key doesn't just mean physical security is useless against Dawn, barriers like different languages, maybe even ignorance, can't stop her. I'm claiming that her linguistic abilities are canon evidence for this, she rips-down and through all barriers, not just inter-dimensional ones. And, it's fun this way. [grin]

So, no, Dawn isn't, exactly, smart. She's just unstoppable.

They lost all their powers when the Halloween spell ended, except for some memories. So they only had some knowledge and skills, left.

The ones that held on to everything were Shadowcat (Kitty/Willow), Cypher (Doug/Xander), Magik (Illyana) and Forge (Warren). Because of the shielding gadget that they'd built using Cypher's belt, and the Runestaff.

Oh, and Buffy. Halfrek's wish means she kept all the squirrel stuff. Dawn is benefitting from being made from part of Buffy, so she is combining being the Key with Squirrel Girl powers. Angel is being dragged through everything by Buffy. Generally, backwards, with lots of bumps on the way. [grin]

They are trying to stabalise everything, in the library, using a gadget built on the Hellmouth, but they are needing to work-out the theory and tech needed to build the gadget, on the fly, using Watcher books, and other books Magik goes and fetches for them.

Their best super scientists are trying to stay sane while re-creating all the tech that the Halloween spell gave people. Anyone who depended on magical artefacts for their power can't be helped - they haven't got time to rebuild all those, as well. That's one reason there aren't more people in the library (that, and cramming them all in).

All but six of them lost all their powers when the Halloween spell broke. Buffy is the only one with totally stable powers.

Joyce is in a slightly different position...

Exactly who A-ko's parents are is a bit of tricky point...

If you're talking about canon A-ko, I think her parents are Superman and Wonder Woman.
Comments from author:
Yup, you're quite right.

Parents who look suspiciously like Clark Kent and Diana Prince are shown, right at the end of the first episode. Though, the spelling of the newspaper name, and the hair colours, are a bit unusual. [grin]

I was just referring to some of the long-running, and arguably seriously nit-picking, discussions about whether A-ko is adopted. [grin]

Me? I wouldn't mess in shipping wars. [grin]

I just reread your story for the third time and laughed nearly as much as I did the first time I read it. It is all marvelously squirrelly. Or should that be nuts? Sorry about that. No I'm not.

But shouldn't your summary be "The SQUIRREL of the Hippopotamus..." instead of "The Square of the Hippopotamus..."? More please.

I am only upset at Dawn being a Squirrel.

If she is one of the squirrels hanging around Doreen, Squirrel Girl, Dawn might be one that gets to play with a light sabre. Do you think Dawn would call this a good trade? [grin]
