The Ring Wraiths remind me of Dementors in this story. The way they bring to life the worst memories a person's ever had and the feeling of utter cold.

Interesting take on the Buffy/LotR cross.

Awww, it's been so loooong!! I love this fic (short though it is at the moment!), I think it's awesome and really well written and it would definitely be a waste if you didn't finish it. That an I want to know what happens next =P So, just thought I'd give you a nudge to say "Oy, update!!".

And btw, sooo glad Dawn isn't going to be paired with Gandalf - I think my heart stopped for a moment! Lol

Great story!! I loved Spike's dream and him running to into the forrest and then later crying into Buffy's arms. Wonderful chapter ~ I can't wait to see more, I hope that there is more.

I am in awe of the way you are deftly combining the familiar storyline with your own creation. Unlike most of the LotR crossovers, yours is subtly shifted by the introduction of the new characters, for instance, the scene at the Prancing Pony where Frodo is NOT accidentally outed, due to Spike's lecture before they arrived. Too often the added characters have no actual affect on the story, so I'm pleased to see that you are making them a part of it. And your characterisations, particularly of the BtVS people, are excellent. I especially like your Buffy. Thanks for a great story, and I'll be looking for more!
Comments from author:
I don't want to change the whole story. The Lord of the Rings movies are nearly prefect. The changes I decided to make at this point are more changes of nuance than they are great big universe redefining changes, though I suppose there will be an effect. The Frodo outing at the Prancing Pony was a little cheesy with the ring tumbling through the air and "accidently" ending up on his finger, so I tweaked it. There were already reasons for the Black Riders to believe they were in Bree, so I didn't think I really needed that.

In regard to characterisation, I put some effort into that. I already have a strong story with the LotR so the primary focus should be on the characters and not the story itself. Buffy, Spike and Dawn are each very strong characters, and I tried to think how each of them would be affected by being put here. Dawn's friendship with Merry and Pippin happened because it just made sense. The friction between Strider and Spike made sense. Buffy on the other hand is feeling a little more comfortable in a world where the lines between good and evil, so far, seem much more defined, and that comfort is playing into everything.

Thank you. I'm glad you liked it. I hope to have more ready soon.

Review:
I am a huge fan of Buffy in Middle Earth stories and Buffy in an relationship with Spike, so please continue this story soon. I like how the Ringwraiths almost remind me of a dememtor from HP. The worst memories of your life filling you entirely. Dawn and Spike present an interesting angle to add to Middle Earth. Buffy, is of course, a powerful warrior for goodness. Even though women in Middle Earth are seldom used in an fighting capacity, Buffy would convince people to allow her to fight. They need every good warrior they can find. Spike could win over the fellowship with the same argument, but what are the others to say about someone who drinks blood? I look forward to the next update!
Comments from author:
I wasn't really thinking of Harry Potter, but I guess that happened. I was just thinking of the horrible feeling that always accompanied the Nazgul and decided to play on that as one way to make them even more frightening to Buffy and Spike, who have already seen so many horrible things. In the end I guess they did become a little Dementor-like.

I hope to update again soon.

Review of chapter "Strange Companions" from Keshkreature
Review:
Great story so far. I love your writing style and can't wait to see how Gandalf reacts to the newcomers. As for Gandalf/Dawn, I think it would be cute. If you count her key years they're probably about the same age, and they've both lived through some very horrific events.
Comments from author:
Ewww!! Ewwwwww! The mention of a possible Dawn/Gandalf pairing in my author's note was a joke. A very bad joke. Let me say it again: "Ewww! Yuck!"

Oh, and I'm glad you like my style. Thanks!!
