I always found this story to be very squicky. Your version, with our favorite characters, is even more disturbing. I mean that in a good way, well, you know what I mean. However, I think the only way for it to work would be if it's completely AU, or if they have amnesia. If these are the canon Scoobies, then the suspension of disbelief is too great. They never would have let the Lottery happen. There would be some serious Slayer fisticuffs, not to mention one bad-ass Wiccan.

I disagree with your idea of what would happen. Not the ridiculous they would die by stoning, but that Buffy would beat them up. Willow would use that floating spell she learned way back in season 3 and send the stones back at the people who through them as fast as missles. THere wouldn't be any lottery anymore.

That story always disturbed me back when I had to read it in school. After reading your take on it, I have the strong urge to go pummel something with rocks... No, wait, that won't do any good. I just hope that what remained of Buffy and Xander's spirits good move on and keep fighting the good fight while they devised a way to end the horrible lottery.... Nice angsty piece. Good job!
