Review:
Great exploration of the Wes/Illyria dynamic. Somewhat dark and oh-so-plausible, with a nicely plotted crossover. I'm sorry to see that you've stopped updating the series, but I'm glad that the story is still getting exposure via COA.

Review:
You have such a way with words. Better than that. A way with Wes. It really was as if I was in that sweet, crazy, Watchery, unbalanced, brainy mind of his. Picking up his frayed sanity and LOVINGLY putting it in his pocket. I really liked that part. Especially since you said lovingly. Because despite all his bitterness there is that dark sort of innocence in him. That capacity of strong bongs. Even to his own broken minds, to himself. This is the man that is ex-watcher, Demon Rogue Hunter, witty bestfriend, betrayer, confused individual. You had it all. It was warm and fractured, his thoughts, but also oddly clinical. As if they were his but they were on display. Which they are, since it's a story. But there was that effortless transition, that slight voyeurism of listening in to what one shouldn't. Made it all the better. It kept getting better as it continued on Wesley but made room for Illyria. I so do adore the two together. I adore how she had this manner of a heart. I like that you show that she isn't all cold and annoying. That you mentioned her favorite 'pet'. The moment I read she said that she was 'proud' of Spike, I knew that I would like this story beyond the Wes factor. There was something about Illyria that was so beyond ... emotion and human thought, that I always found interesting of the character. You displayed that rawness really well.

Speaking of rawness. Yay Wes for laying it on Giles.
I always found that 'evil now, so bad' excuse dumb and lame and a copout.
I'm glad he got it off his chest. They don't know who they're messing with.
Morons. I like how this ended. It was all KINDS of GOODNESS. I mean really.
I mean I woulda liked a bit more. It felt a tad rushed. But it was right. The kiss?
In the rain? After the killing of another Immortal? Oh how romantic those two are lol
It was very them.

And it was a great ending to waking up from the dead and sticking it to the Man :-D

Congratulations on your 2007 COA nomination for best Wesley.

Creepy, scaring, and wonderfully liberating.

How horrible to be Wesley and live knowing no matter what you do that you can never please. Tragic to learn all your effort and angst have been wasted, and cleansing to let it go.

Great work on the voice as Wesley finds himself.

Review:
Hm!
Not bad. A different take on the aftermath of 'Not Fade Away', surely.
I like it.
It did strike me as a bit odd that Wesley went from calling it an 'Asinine game of taking heads' at one point, to very much enjoying himself as he dueled with and then de-headed an opponent. It had looked more like he was just going to have Illyria warn off/puree any immortal who tried him.
::Shrug::
I'm always a sucker for an Illyria who softens (slightly) as she grows into her humanity, and you do that pretty well here.

One editorial note: You use the word 'lightening' to indicate the electrical effects of the quickening, but 'lightening' is a term that literally means 'to lighten', as in, the light increasing. You meant to say 'lightning'.
^_^
Comments from author:
Damn it. I thought I'd fixed that typo on this version. I'll get around to it in a bit, and thanks for the reminder.

Why shouldn't Wesley enjoy it once he's made peace with the new version of himself? He found it asinine when he viewed it through the constraints of the life he was brought up to. When he fully came to terms with what his future entailed, there was no reason for him not to enjoy himself.

Thanks for the review.

Review:
Lovely portrayal of an alternate ending for Wesley. I adore the idea of Immortal!Wesley, because it doesn't negate the impact of that last scene in NFA between Wes and Illyria, but it lets their story continue. I like the hints of darkness, the way he comes to accept her, and yes, she'd totally break all the rules of the Game and interfere on his behalf if necessary, and to hell with anyone who tried to stop her.

Love it. A lot.
Comments from author:
I couldn't bear to just let him fade away, so to speak, so I was delighted come up with a little story that satisfied my own version of how things should have been. Thanks!

It never occured to me before how fun reading Illyria can be - the way she deconstructs and dissects the aspects of humanity we take for granted. I liked this quite a bit and had no problem following along with the Highlander bits. The confrotation at the end gave me shivers. Quite nicely done. Off to read the next part. ~Ves

Shivers are good! Thanks Ves.

Wow!!!! This was dark, dramatic and wonderful all rolled into an exciting tale. And, don't forget a touch of humor... "longevity in flavor content" indeed! On to the sequel!

Thanks! I'm glad I could add a bit of humor where I could.

you get what you ask for. AI asked for no help, they recieved no help.
Comments from author:
And that would be exactly the point with the situation with the Senior Parteners.

Though, they help asked for with regards to Fred was denied. They asked for help then and were rejected. Wesley's ire is related to not being helped with Fred's illness, not the problem with LA. He may say that, but in the end, he views Fred's demise as his own death.

Everything else would be the icing on the hellish cake.

This is one of those stories that I come back to and reread again and again. It is so powerful and moving that I believe it's a classic. I cried when Wesley died in the show and you bring him back to life for me. Thank you.

Thank you. I very much enjoyed writing.

And check out the sequel.

Review:
Oh, this is lovely. Darkly poetic, and you even kept me guessing about how he had survived, so I had a nice surprise when his first challenger showed up. You wrote both Wes and Illyria really well, and I especially like the line about him gathering up his sanity and putting it in his back pocket; you depicted a man in severe shock very well. A beautiful stand-alone story, but any sequel would be appreciated also! Sigh -- I have to go read it again now...
Comments from author:
What a lovely review. Thank you for the kind words, and to let you know, sequels are planned.

Review:
Such a pleasant surprise. This fic was wonderful. I thought the dark tone was perfectly appropriate, and I really enjoyed the interaction between Wes and Illyria. I would love a sequel, especially if you included one or more Highlander characters. I can just picture the wary meeting of Wes and Methos. What about a minor character - Amanda, Kronos, Cassandra? Oooo, what about Darius? Plot bunnies are breeding like, well, bunnies. A sequel would be great, but if not, then I'll be re-reading this one. Just fab.
Comments from author:
Definitely a sequel or two planned. I enjoyed writing this way to much to leave it the way it is. I was actually thinking Amanda and Joe as possibles, since I adore Amanda. Can you imagine what Illyria would think of her. Thank you,
