wow, I so wish there was a part two to this story... That was amazing... Oddly, in a world that painful, I *could* see Buffy getting together with two old mages like Ethan and Giles... being the light to their darkness, and the laughter to their tears... and them being the anchor to her soul even as everything gets set to fly apart.

I just love the idea of Buffy/Giles/Ethan together in a relationship. I really like the way you showed Buffy's feelings for Ethan changing and I think his for her as well. LOVED the new appearance of Dawn, brought into being by Buffy's direction and to be used as a weapon to destroy the Borg. That was a twist and well done. I can see why Buffy would want to use any means possible to take out the Borg, but I really liked the way Giles and Ethan tried to make sure she fully understood how difficult it would be for her. Nice look at their relationship and great twist with Dawn, the Knights, the Finn and Adam models...not to mention the mentions of Xander and Willow taken by the Borg...the idea of Willow as part of the collective is a terrifying image in and of itself. Could the collective adapt an ability to use her magic? Anyway, I enjoyed the story very much.
