Review of chapter "She Will Have It Her Way" from Alyssara
Review:
I'll admit it, I was avoiding this story because...well, MILLICENT! But then you had to go and make this a thoroughly enjoyable, well-written story that I fear I am now hooked on.
And now I'm peeved because there isn't more to it yet and I have to wait for the next installment *sigh*

one of the great things about Rowling was how she invented some incredibly interesting charactors that were really only background. MB is one of them that of course never got enough play either in the books or movies. And of course how could there be time.

In a lot of ways it would have been great if they could have done a series on HP. Something like the Sopranos. Double or triple the amount of time spent on the movies and allow all these charactors out to play.

Your story is a excellent primer on how much there is there for more stories.

Oh and yes even Rowling admits Hermione/Ron was a stupid pairing.
Comments from author:
Thanks...
As I said in an earlier review, their pairing on my part was just a throwaway line to avoid having to write about the trio. Personally, until book 5 I thought it would end up Neville/Hermione. There was an excellent throwaway line in OotP that made me lean to a Susan Bones/Harry future, and the whole Luna/Ron crush.
But that's what's great about fanfic, there's a thousand possibilities to explore in a huge world. One or teo throwaway lines shouldn't detract from the purpose of the whole overall story.

Review:
Horrible Things: You actually were so lazy as to go with the frackin dementedly stupid pairing of Hermione and RON?!?!

OK, that's all I got; otherwise I liked this. Millicent is one of the MANY - like, durn near everyone in the books, ferChristssake!! - that are nothing more than a vague description and passing mention, so it's nice to see something being done.

Note: I read right up to where you actually brought forth that Ron and Hermione are together before I had a meltdown, so that's a /good/ thing in a story. And now I'll go back and finish it, sincerely hoping and praying that (a) Ron dies; (b) they are together merely and solely as friends and the whole vacation was a part of Harry getting out of England for a while... OK, that's all I really got at the moment
Comments from author:
Ok. I had to reread that a few times because my cold meds were not helpful.
I started writing this ten years ago, back when Hermione/Ron wasn't a canon thing. I am not terribly good at writing either character & as I knew the twins were going to be the primary focus the whole thing ended up being a throwaway line. I got hounded at the time because I wasn't showing 'main' characters and threw them in just to shut people up about it.
So i hope you can slog through the rest of this story even with this extremely minor pairing. I dont think I've mentioned them since the one chapter. If it's not this pairing, I get flak for the Ginny/Draco one so i'm used to it :-)

Interesting story so far. I hope Harry's turned out okay, since he didn't wind up with Ginny in this universe. I also hope that if, like it appears to be, that Fred and Millicent get together, there's not a ton of angst and misunderstandings first, even if it takes a bit for it to happen.

Review:
This is a good story. But in the last chapter some paragraphed got tabbed and others didn't. It is slightly confusing, sorry.
Comments from author:
New software issues. The tabbing is normally removed when I convert it to html, but this new word program somehow keeps them in instead of formatting them out.

I've mentioned before, haven't I, that I adore this story? 'Cause I do. I just have to go back and re-read the whole thing every time you update, and then I smile and giggle to myself all the way through it. Thank you for writing such a gem! I can't wait to find out who has got a grudge against Mil and why they are making her life so miserable. What are these sins she is being accused of, anyway? Keep up the great work, and I hope you can get out another update soon-ish. =]

That little jem was popped in back when my knowledge of British slang came from Red Dwarf and Are You Being Served?. I've got a better grasp on it now. :-)

I am so pleased to see this fun story updated. I find that I consider your Milicent to be the DEFINITIVE Milicent Bullstrode, and I compare everyone else's characterization to yours to see how they stack up. After re-reading the story, I really hope that things are actually heading toward a Fred/Mil pairing. They are so fun together, and the friction her addition to the family will give to Draco and Hermione/Ron is just making me giddy to consider. Fun all around! I hope your next update doesn't take anywhere near as long as this last one did. This is just too good of a story to let languish along as unfinished.

Awww, this makes me so happy! I love your witty titles, and the way you've managed to capture the fierceness of Mil without making her into a troll. I've always thought she got a bit of a raw deal, being judged forever for how she looked and acted as a second year. :(
Thanks for making me smile!
