Review of chapter "Jenny's Honor" from eriktheviking
A well written short especially the emotions but how does this crossover apart from the child's name?

Review of chapter "Jenny's Honor" from Ponder
There's potential for a couple different sequels here.
One could be set during the Vorkosigan Saga, of course. The Kalderash clan finally tracks down that long-lost branch of the family...
Another could be set in the modern era sometime after Jenny's death. IANAL, but as I understand it, once a minor loses both parents, the courts won't enforce any trust or will that denies all contact from a minor's biological relations.
I've read about RL cases where gay couples with children have arranged things very carefully so that the surviving spouse gets custody in the event of the biological parent's death... And then despite all their best efforts, the court turns around and awards custody to the estranged grandparents, even though they spit on their gay offspring while they were still alive.
So in the event of Eric's death, Jenny can't count on the legal instruments she left behind continuing to work to keep her family away from Miles.
Comments from author:
I have no plans to write a sequel for this, but even if I did, I would not kill off Eric. I understand why your thoughts went in that direction, but I envision Jenny's defiace as having been complete and sucessful.

So Jenny's son was a distant ancestor and namesake of Cordelia Naismith's dad, for whom OUR Miles Naismith Vorkosigan got named? Intriguing idea (and I particularly appreciated the notion that Jenny's posting was a punishment from her clan for making sure that her child would NEVER be part of that whole vengeance thing).

That gives me a warm feeling. I can see Cordelia in Janna. The ladies could make hard decisions, and never lacked courage.

This is just a lovely little story. I like the idea of Miles being Jenny's great-great-etc-grandson. Very nifty idea.
