Review of chapter "Dinner Settings" from Harry
Review:
I think that Narcissa is starting to realize that she has responsibilities that have to be taken care of. But with Draco and Willow aiding her out, she WILL grow, survive and be stronger for it.

Review:
Melancholy indeed, but also hopeful. A part of me wishes for more, but I also respect those choices that lead us to and away from stories and universes.

Lovely series. Thank you.

Review:
In it's a way, perhaps an even more insightful and complex exemplar. It is devastating in it's clarity. I'm truly impressed.

Perhaps it is now time for Narcissa and Snape to find a mate? I don't know about each other, given that they're cousins... but there's so much dark in their lives. They have a unique capacity to understand each others losses and passion. Both appearing distant, cold even, yet full of passion.

I really like the universe you created, even though I was sad to see the scoobies so completely left behind.

Blue.

Finally taking up this series again? I loved how you did the last story, and hope to see more of this in the future.

I'm not sure about more in the future, but this was nice to write for now.

Review of chapter "Dinner Settings" from (Past Donor)Vesica
Review:
Ye gods woman! The bleak just doesn't end. Wonderful setting and framework for this update of what has gone on with these characters. And it seems to me preparing for a party is a perfect catalyst for everything that Narcissa is musing over. Things are never cut and dry, are they? Still, despite the obvious losses and deep wounds, they continue on - which I suppose is it's own form of hope. Lovely. ~Ves
Comments from author:
Bleak, but good, right? I saw it as hopeful, that there was now a new generation, someone to take the mantle from Narcissa when she was ready to step down, but would let her rule as long as she wanted.

Thanks!

Oh, I just adore this coda to WTB. Narcissa is such a fascinating character to me...it works so well that she still orchestrates the Malfoy social life even though so much has changed. Nicely done!

Review:
Very dark and very sad. A brilliant character study.
Comments from author:
Thank you! Sad, maybe, but I think fair for her here. They're recovering from a war- and it's hard to imagine any sequel to WTB being all bright, chipper and happy.

Heh.

Review of chapter "Dinner Settings" from Booster
Review:
Very nice indeed - a worthy follow-up to Willow Tree Burning, and one of the most interesting looks into the mind of Narcissa I've seen for a while. One of the things I loved so much about WTB was the darkness, both in the events that occured and in the characters themselves. Here, Narcissa is strong, forced to be by her own unyielding will and desire to protect her son and the Malfoy no matter what or who the cost. The Malfoys are survivors above all else, and well used to carrying on regardless. After all, when you've lost it all, what else can they do to you?

A fascinating character study, Houses - congratulations.
Comments from author:
Thanks Booster, your reviews always leave me warm and fuzzy inside. It was supposed to be dark, to show her inner distress, but also to show how strong she was. Narcissa is not a woman to be messed with, and her strength is in her drive to survive.

Thanks again,

houses
