LOL
Oh goodness. Only Methos *Snickers*
Shock, after shock, and bad memories ontop of more ... and he has his beer.
There was always so much to that. :-D

Hey.
Still liking Possessive!Illyria a lot, and Methos has always seemed infinitely more interesting than Duncan.
I hate to say it, but your Joe voice was way off. You wrote him in a very Giles-like way, and Joe's speaking patterns are much simpler, more down-to-earth. Joe's a smart guy, but he doesn't speak like he graduated top of the class at Oxford.

Enjoying the series!
Comments from author:
Fair enough commentary on Joe. It had been a while since I'd seen the series so I gave it my best shot.

Glad you enjoyed it otherwise.

Review:
Love all the detail here about how the two worlds fit together. Very nice. I like Wes quite a bit the way you write him and this outside perspective is interesting. And I am always thrilled to see Giles. Nice framing of the story as well - I love it when things come full circle - ending where they started in a way. Nice. ~Vesica
Comments from author:
I'm glad the framing worked. I do try, sometimes, for a little art in my fanart.

*whimpers*

So. Fricking. Good. And damn, but I love crazy!Wes. I think you captured Giles' emotional state beautifully, and I loved Dawn's protectiveness when they showed up. And I'm *so* looking forward to the next one.
Comments from author:
I love Crazy!Wes too. He's my favorite Wes.

Review:
Beautifully haunting, with the slow delicate build up explaining Wes's past and ramping the threat level up one notch at a notch. So much so, that by the time Wes and Illyria make their entrance, you feel the same fear and interest as Methos. A brilliant job, houses.
Comments from author:
Thank you. We've seen this situation from Wes' perspective but how would someone from the outside view it? I'm glad it worked.

Review:
I think Wesley is saner than Giles gives him credit for. This story rocks. I can't wait for the next installment.
Comments from author:
Wes isn't stupid. He's broken, but crafty, and a true survivalist. And Giles is viewing Wesley through guilt colored glasses.

Review of chapter "One Good Turn" from Stacia
Review:
There's Woo, and there's most definitely Hoo! I was delighted to see this sequel. Plus, there were extra helpings of everyone's favorite ROG. Characterization was spot-on all around.

Watching Wes and Illyria dance through Methos' eyes - just captivating. I could picture Illyria standing there, unmoved by the music, but willing to follow Wesley's lead. And Wes, persuading her to move her body with his gentle yet possessive touches, as madness glints in his eyes. *shivers* Yes, please! So glad to hear that there is more on the way.
Comments from author:
Shivers are indeed good, and exactly what I was aiming for. They have a certain beauty, deadly like watching vipers.

Review:
I don't have much to add, other than it was really cool to explore Giles' position. It is deep. He was tortured by Angelus - and most of that was off camera. It may have seemed like a flipant decision from the POV of the Angel characters in the series, but with so many layers to the drama we can hope (at least in fan fiction) that it was just "poor" or "hurried" writing or the budget that caused the AI gang's isolation from the rest of the Buffy-verse in times of need. Had the Ripper series happened, maybe ASH wouldn't have been Captain Hook on stage in England... but dramatically it just wasn't his series or commericial property to be the one to mary-save the others. Thanks for sharing this series and idea with us. P.S. love Methos - so more Methos is always a good thing.
Comments from author:
Giles perpetually wars with what is right, what needs to be done, and what the petty human psyche want to do. He hates Angel, isn't fond of Wesley, and had lots on his plate. But he also would never have wished Illyria on the world. When he understood the true consequences of turning his back on Fred, it must have come as quite a shock to him.

Review of chapter "One Good Turn" from renelf
Review:
Great story. I'm just starting to get into Highlander fic and this is one of the best I've read. You've really captured Giles' conflicted emotions and Methos' conflict between self-preservation and Mac's influence. I love the tenderness between Wes and Illyria and their hostility to the outside. I look forward to reading more of this series.
Comments from author:
I'm delighted you enjoyed it. It was definitely fun to write, and I'm eager to write the next installement- though it'll likely be a while since I've got so many WIPs on my plate. Both Giles and Methos are fascinating characters because they're fundamentally pragmatic- they do what needs to get done to survive.

Review:
This is one kickbutt series you are writing. Wonderful writing with great chacterization and nifty action scenes. Poor Wes, an eternity of Illyria when he really want Fred. I think he may be in Hell. I look forward to the continuization of your epic.
Comments from author:
Thank you, thank you. It's very enteraining to write as well. And yes, Wes is in Hell. There is absolutely no doubt. He's one crazy guy in Hell, and he can't help but find satisfaction in it. Though Illyria is wearing down his defenses little by little...

Review of chapter "One Good Turn" from Yanslana
Review:
Oh yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! YES! Woooohooo! It's here! :D :D :D :D :D

This is really, really, nice. Really. Nice. First, there's the lull of build-up, with Duncan and Methos, and me the reader just KNOWS what they're talking about, and wow, that brief moment of PURE AGONIZING anticipation, making me want to speed-read, skip-to-the-action, and slow down and savor every word all at the same time.

I must say, I am very much not disappointed with your characterization of Giles, especially over his guilt with not helping Fred, seeing you address his mistake was very nice, because it's one of the issues that I believe, gets entirely too overlooked in a post-NFA fic involving the Scooby Gang. It's good that Giles openly admits his mistake, and feels the need to 'atone' it somehow, especially concerning the current state of Wesley...

And speaking of Wesley, wow, the broken-glass image, chipped edges and sharp to bring blood with a single touch, that, was delicious. I don't believe I've ever felt just HOW... broken Wesley is until hearing Giles' point of view. It's exactly what Vail said, 'intriguingly unstable', and I absolutely LOVES that moment of... tenderness he shared with Illyria through the dance, the imagery was heart-touching.

Oh, ending note... So happy to know that Angel's alive, though for good or ill to Wesley... guess I'll see, but hopefully, on purely my fangirl thinking, I'm pushing to more of the former than the latter... but anyhow, very good to know that Angel's alive. And I forgot to say this, I was als immensely pleased with the mention of Faith, and her reaction to what had happened in LA, as well as speculation on the 'talk' she might have had with Giles over his refusal to help, and basically indirect hand in the destruction of Angel's family and friends.

So yeah, I don't wanna sound pathetically thirteen-year-old-whiner-ish, but like, omgIcan'twaitfor Special Brand of Crazy!!! Because it's TEH Revolutionary of teh Game as all the old cooties around the world knows it! :D :D

Lastly, thank you SO much for writing this. You rock! Lots! :D
Comments from author:
*blushes madly*

You are such a sweetheart. And believe me, I'm still working on your story as well.

I'm glad Giles worked for you. I think he probably didn't understand what he was refusing when he wouldnt' help with Fred's illness- both that he would shatter someone so completely [Wesley] and let an unspeakable evil into the world [Illyria]. A lot of his guilt about Wes is misplaced guilt over the existence of Illyria. He knows what she's capable of, and wishes he could turn back the clock.

I'm glad Faith's involvement went well too. It was pretty clear to me from BtVS that she had a different relationship with the AI group from the rest of the Scoobies, and equally clear she wouldn't have been consulted on Fred's death. Harsh reality all around.

I'm looking forward to Special Brand of Crazy as well, though I'm not sure when I'll have the time to write again.

Again, thanks so much for the lovely review.
